Why would I care? If I see a couple that looks like they might have some big difference between them (obese/skinny, young/old, polished/sloppy, etc.), I might spend half a second wondering if the disparity causes any tension between them, but that’s not a judgment of either one. It’s just me being nosy, lol. And I forget all about it as soon as they’re out of sight.

I use to play, coach and scout baseball. There was an old saying that you should never sign a prospect with an ugly girlfriend. The thought was that it was a reflection of his true inner confidence. It has proven to be true in my life. If a guy or girl is a 8/9/10 and they consistently date 5’s, they have some issues to work through.

Leagues for me are based on character, not looks. If someone with bad character consistently runs through relationships with people of good character, my assumption is that the person with bad character is using the other people.

If someone with good character consistently dates those with bad character, well, then their character isn't as good as I thought.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say yeah. It may not bother me (because I mean...what kinda saddo would it make me to be that invested in other peoples relationships) but it does give me pause. TBH though looks is one thing, I see couples that are not "looksmatched" all the time to the point it just doesn't garner any interest. But, according to OP, not only is Jo's wife better looking but also more accomplished, higher earning, better educated (at least I think, could be wrong) which does make me suspicious of women who choose to date down like that.

Why? Because insecure and low self esteemed women have become the rocket fuel of bullshit misandry and the belief that "all men are trash" rhetoric that's taken hold today. OP isn't exactly a complete anomaly either, I've seen tons of women who choose to date down dud to their own poor self esteem and then saddle all men with the failures of their poorly suited partners. I read way too much garbage on here about exes with no work ethic, bad hygiene, excess bodyfat and shittu sexual capabilities to the point where I start to wonder if said complaints say more about a woman's shitty dating choices than it does about men at large.

Too many times have I dated someone and the women in my life would judge me based on how pretty they found her.

My baby mama hated my ex and used to call her ugly, skinny, say she had no lips a bad smile, etc (all wrong she was just hating) but it did incite competition.

I’ve even seen parents judge their sons based off their partners. “Mmph, I didn’t think my son would go for a woman like that….” AKA a fattie.

I think gold diggers are generally looked down upon. When there isn't an evident financial benefit from a relationship, I don't necessarily think people are against it.

When someone dates out of the person's socially perceived "league", especially up, I would assume that the person has brought something to the table to convince the other person to do so. I don't think dating is like charity for most people. "Oh dayum" isn't my reaction, but I just think there could be more than what meets the eye.

It depends on your sex.

A woman that does that tells me that she's naive and is just having casual sex with dudes hoping they fall in love with her which will probably never happen. Just based on that I respect her less.

But also, the reality is that her entitlement is making life harder for men on her level, so hate might be an appropriate way to describe her.

If it's a guy, It's almost certainly just luck so I wouldn't hold that against anyone.
