Hey ladies and gents,

I wanted to give back a bit to the community for some of the help I received yesterday evening. Below are some responses that I've learned from and have used over time. I don't claim them as my own, as some of them I learned from others, but they have sure come in handy and I wanted to share. The basic idea is to have two or three ready to go so that you're ready to respond when finding yourself in a similar situation. The ideal would be come to adapt / come up these into your own versions that are in sync with your personality.

Also, the majority of them depend very much on delivery and attitude and much less so on the actual words. The ideal attitude to have is to be outcome independent, that is don't lose your state of mind when she says I have a boyfriend with a bit of a playful attitude. For all you know, she could just be testing you to get a feel as to how you react and may not have a boyfriend at all. Now, without further ado:

  • Hey, nobody's perfect
  • Cool, can I crash your wedding
  • That's great, then you'll have something to do when I'm not around
  • Well [pause] have you tried setting traps?
  • Does he make all the decisions for you?
  • It's okay, we'll be discreet :)
  • When it comes to meeting new people and having a good time, I'm sure your boyfriend's not insecure as to let that bother him
  • Great, then we can meet for a drink / activity without worrying about something happening
