I think you are right on your assessment, I never call anything a date, it sounds weird to me, like you are playing by someone else's rules.

You just have to flip it around on her - 'why? are you going to buy me dinner?' ' if you play your cards right ' all that stuff. Whatever feels calibrated, but the underlying frame is that she is trying to get in your pants and you are not into labels.

It seems weird to me that you get asked this question. Is it not clear that it is a date? Are you framing the situation so that it might not be a date if you ask her out one on one?

In terms of an answer I would like "Jeez I dunno, I just thought you were hot/sexy/cute so we should hang out". Date probably means different things to different people I guess. As we most shit tests, just be honest with your intentions.

First. You havent even had her ask this question yet? Seems to me like you are already over thinking things! Be careful about this. Remember you are the one showing HER a good time - it shouldn't matter what she thinks of it or says if you're living in the moment.

Secondly: If you're taking her to a movie you really need to up the physicality EARLY & i mean before you even get into the cinema. Guide her through doors, lines, the ticket booth by hands on her back & hugs. When finding a seat straight away lift the barrier between you two (if its possible on the seats) & pull her over to you so she's hugging or resting on you already. If you cant pull the barrier then play with her hands by stealing her popcorn & holding her hands or something so that after a bit of play & you rest your arms on the arm rest you can maintain contact.

If you don't escalate before, then the whole movie you will be sitting there looking at her hand wondering if you should grab it yet lol.

I'm still uncertain of just assuming attraction because I'm still friends with her and we have a lot of mutual friends. If she was somebody I just met, I'd have no problem assuming attraction, because there's no risk if she just rejects me. But even if she rejects me here, I'll still be around her and her friends.

It might even seem somewhat arrogant to assume attraction here. I've only known her for a few months and she hasn't shown any signs of definite attraction here, only mild interest. Requires kino, escalation, etc. So if I were to just assume attraction, she might reject me, tell her friends I assumed she likes me, and then I'd look like the douche who thinks every girl that talks to him wants his dick.
