One thing I appreciate about the younger generation of women is that they are indeed less shallow attraction-wise. I have no doubt about it.

However, what hasn't checked out is that their actual strategy of getting a man remains primitive (i.e., "action" doesn't align with their "thought and attraction").

The biggest problem is women have to rely on occasion, excuse, or a fellow woman's approval to feel comfortable enough to socialize with a man. A "stage", a "venue" (made externally) is needed to set women up for a good mood and make socialising comfortable (i.e., a kind of excuse). Then, they conflate that good-vibe with the guys in that venue. We all know what types of men plant themselves to those venues and events most frequently.
A common dynamic is flocking behavior towards some extroverted narcissists (as other women approved him first), even if they don't actually enjoy being around that "center guy", they still "follow" because it is uncomfortable to be left out of the good-vibe crowd. Hence also the "invisibility cloak" for the other men.

I know for a fact some friends of mine are highly attractive, hardworking, and honest men who would have no problem attracting a woman (and honestly checked all the boxes my women friends claim). But those guys don't put themselves in those special venues...and voila, they are still "invisible" to women. Or slowly, those honest, hardworking men have also seen enough of the above primitive/contradictory women claim vs behaviors and checked out of the game.

To connect with a man, nearly all women have to rely on external circumstances bestowing onto them. They don't have the internal determination when it comes to dating and simply get with the easiest available option in the venue that makes socializing the most comfortable, even if a man of her type lies just two blocks away (it is a metaphor).
