Right as I was hitting my groove with a workout routine, book reading, creative hobby, balanced diet, and heightened confidence and sex drive, I got sick with a fever and cold.

That's fine, we get sick sometimes. For a few days, I backed off of working out, eating well, etc. I took it easy. And easy meant laying around in bed or sofa, playing some video games, watching Netflix, etc. Ahhhhh.... it felt kinda good.

Ok, then I got better. It took all my energy to jump back into my daily routine, but I did. Then BOOM. I needed dental surgery. I'm suddenly on heavy pain medication and I'm back on the god damn sofa playing god damn Call of Duty for 4 hours at a time. My LTR has seen me just laying around like this for days. Not good.

A captain shouldn't leave the wheel for too long.

Now that I'm healed, it's been 2 weeks without a steady routine and I'm wrestling with my inner beast about jumping back in. Like trying to pull yourself out of a raging whirlpool. Feeling a bit guilty. But, so what? I'm 10 dead lifts away from feeling the surge again. Can't make it to the gym? You're 40 pushups away.

Get sick. Get better. Get off the sofa. Get back into it.

On a side note, perhaps a conversation about how to deal with illness, surgery, and other physical obstacles. How do we, as men, deal with temporary weakness while maintaining a strong frame?
