Back in my student days a gay friend of mine had their birthday bash at a gay club. Honestly, it was unbelievably affirming and a hugely positive experience being hit on by people I had no interest in. It's the closest a straight guy can feel to ever having inherent value and it was wonderful even taking into account the drunks who were too pushy and those who didn't like hearing no. Being objectified and harassed with sexual messages is so much better than the alternative it is unimaginable for those who haven't experienced it.

I would feel like I'm a very attractive man who is most likely pretty fit, or looks pretty fit.

In my experience (not gay, but have been hit on by gay men and heard of other men's experiences of being hit on by gay men), gay men don't come out of pocket to other guys like straight men do to women. Gay men typically don't send dick pics or send overtly sexual messages. Maybe because there is a possibility of getting your ass whooped, or more subtlety of trying to figure out if a guy you like is gay first.

It happens all the time. On the surface it's not a big deal. I take it as a compliment and make it clear that I'm not into that.

What does piss me off is the comments from the peanut gallery about how I'm not open minded enough, or that I should 'just try it', or that I'm homophobic. Apparently only women and gay men are allowed to have preferences these days.

It has happened and I didn't like it.

At first it was weird and a bit flattering but as it kept happening over time it became off putting.

It also is a bit threatening sometimes once this creepy guy at a club grabbed at my balls while I was dancing with a girl and it kind of hurt.

But I'm bisexual I doubt straight men will ever have this experience consistently enough to understand women. When I was being straight for all intents and purposes I only had the experience three or four times. Even now I doubt it happens as frequently to me as to women, since it mostly happens in contexts where people know I might be interested and also gay men are a lot less aggressive about it than straight men.

Men are more straightforward and agressive in their advances. I can only imagine how tiresome it must be at times for women. All the women I know have felt threatened at least once in their lives. Some men simply can't take a 'no', especially if a woman was sassy/flirty before the 'no'.

For me, the few instances where men made advances were jolly and in good fun. I've had my ass groped a few times in a crowd, too, but it never bothered me (don't know if this were men or women). If anything, it's a compliment imo. But I am rather confident in what I don't want and more than capable of defending my boundaries, both verbally and (if needed) physically.

Most men could die and most people wouldn't care, someone wanting you is quite the improvement, even if it is just for sex.

Sure, we, heterosexual men, would prefer women, but to the enormous majority of men such proof of wanting is between indifferent/slight annoyance to out right flattering and desirable.

The only ones who do not like it, are usually because some of those men can enter sexual harassment and rape territory. Which none likes it, invariably of the sex of the offender.

On my phone, when a call comes through, I can either press "Accept" or "Ignore". If I don't want to talk, I choose "Ignore". Funnily enough, real life often offers that same option. Just last Tuesday, a man tried to provoke me into a physical fight, and I chose not to partake. I've had gay men hit on me in the past, and I chose not to partake.

Sometimes, of course, real life does not offer that option, which has been the case when I've been physically attacked by individuals or gangs of individuals intent on doing me harm, just as it is when women are physically attacked. But that's a whole different kettle of fish. My point is: if you're being assaulted, you have my sympathies. If you're getting unwanted approaches, maybe not so much.

Really annoyed. The difference is that annoying men believe that they can convince a woman who is into guys to like him, while they believe that the gay guy should know that he doesn’t have a chance because the guy that he’s hitting on isn’t gay.

That’s why a sometimes suggested response for women is supposedly to tell a guy that she’s not interested in that she’s a lesbian, although some guys really high on the jerk ladder might continue to harass her anyway.

Being approached by gay men all the time would bother me, because i find gay men, and gayness in general, kind of obnoxious at this physiological gut-instinct level (even though intellectually im fine with it). I tend to avoid interacting with gay men more than strictly necessary because I can't really be fair to them as human beings, because I just find them irrationally annoying.

A much more fair comparison would be getting approached by unattractive women all the time. Which would more amuse me than anything else...

Idk, I don't think you can really construct a situation where men understand what it's like, that's a pipe dream. Men are bigger, faster, stronger, less fearful/anxious, more comfortable with the idea of violence or fending someone off, etc. After decades of being me and having my neurological pathways shaped into those of a hunter-killer by testosterone, I'm incapable of thinking like you, someone approaching me for sexual attention will never be a big deal to me, not when I have had people approach me with guns and knives and gotten in fights and so on.

You can't make that entire psychological framework go away with the use of a rhetorical situation... let alone one that, because of the whole unneccessary gay bit added in, doesn't really make sense.
