Emmanuel Macron wants to ban men from following women and asking for their phone number under new plans to end the 'macho' culture in France.

The 39-year-old French President vowed to crackdown on harassment on public transport and in the street when he was on the election trail earlier this year.

A Brief Summary

"A working party set up by, Marlene Schiappa, the under-secretary for gender equality, is now looking to produce legislation making it illegal to harass people in a public place - and this could mean outlawing wolf-whistles."

To Conclude

This proposal gives women the power to claim harassment if she is at all feeling uncomfortable, and if convicted, you'll have a criminal record. The fact that this type of harassment is very hard to prove makes this law a very deadly weapon which can ruin mens' lives. Also because noone likes being harassed, this proposal's true intent is hidden under a mask portraying the intent of stopping harassment while in reality, its to promote censorship and the supression of men.

J'ai vécu aux USA (en fait j'y ai fait mes études) ne t'attends pas à des miracles pour ce qui est des femmes; ceci dit elles sont moins "policées" qu'en France, mine de rien.

Je ne sais pas, la mentalité française... Je la trouve finalement moins "ouverte" que dans les pays anglo-saxons. Je suis d'un naturel artistique bien que finalement aussi un bon geek de première; aux USA ou en Angleterre on te regarde moins de travers si tu t'habille un peu "bizarrement" ou alors que tu expliques que tes centres d'intérêt sont: la compo musicale, la philosophie et les algorithmes de compression audio/vidéo... En France j'ai l'impression de devoir dire que mes centres intérêt sont: le foot, le foot, les apéros entre "amis", et le boulot.

J'ai connu la France et de manière générale la vie avant tout le bordel mélodramatique du politiquement correct, des réseaux « sociaux » et tout se passait finalement pas si mal que ça. Les relations hommes-femmes étaient beaucoup plus simples et satisfaisantes sans avoir à gérer les délires du féminisme "third wave". En même temps peut être je me fais vieux...

Man, my girlfriend/friends will not go out alone a SINGLE day without being catcalled or simply called a slut for ignoring the catcalls.

This is something that struck me, coming from a country I thought progressive, tolerant, multicultural, etc etc etc.

I don't know how will this be enforced tho. Most women here I know just shrug street harrassment off and go about their day without making a big fuss about it. It also doesn't happen when they are with males.

I've been living in Paris all my life.

10 years ago, you would have been able to witness intergenders interactions in every day life settings. Now men are too afraid. I was talking to a friend of mine whom I did street pick up with 10 years ago and he told me he stopped hitting on girls on the streets because 9 times out of ten the girl calls the police.

You should know that this is nothing new really. There has been campains from the governments taking position to end "harrassment" for a few years now.

And right now, there is a law being voted to allo all women to use random men's sperm to get pregnant. Which is replacing the male.

On top of that, add the migrants who doesn't get any prison time or fine for raping French girls.

I fucking hate what my country became. It took about ten years to go from average to bad.

I live in a northern european country, nobody wolf whistles here, not even when drunk. People are too timid/beta to aggressively open women (not an effective strategy for getting girls anyway). You will not believe it, but most women will probably welcome such behaviour as it would make them feel WANTED (and something to complain about to their gfs lol). Many women have become like beta men (and probably enjoy feeling feminine/vulnerable), and a lot of men have become effete and even effeminate, so women lust and respond well to raw masculinity. I see this in the gym, just by approaching a girl (including the truly cute girls with a plump ass in tights) her face will light in all smiles, and laugh at even my lamest jokey little comment. I speak French, let me translate roughly.

After a string of harassments in a public street, the Secretary in charge of Equality between Men and Women (the title sounds more official in French) is looking to codify punishments against street harassment like propositions, catcalls, and suggestive gestures.

France does not have a "total freedom of speech" culture like in the US, that means hate speech and the like are illegal. It does indeed mean that sometimes what is considered hate or racism or misogyny is defined in very broad terms, not always rightly so.
