As someone who dated a couch creature, it doesn't work. It isn't even remotely worth it.

Even if you decide to fork out the effort to raise them like a child with extra steps(arrange their appointments, buy them what they need/want, teach them every week how to do basic personal care and chores, sleep with them even though the sex is bad, etc)...🤮🤮🤮

All that effort could have been put into something more practical. Basically, anything else.

Even if they don't leave, they have no respect or love for you. They aren't even grateful and they won't get a job when you pick up a second one (unless you find them one they actually qualify for). They'll still find a way to cheat if they want to.

How is being by yourself and living on your own seen as worse than that?

Don't shoot the messenger, but beyond a certain age, people who are broken are broken because they like being broken.

I come from a background of massive abuse (like, been the prosecutor in multiple court cases, that level of abuse) and the resultant mental illness, so I feel qualified to say this. I go to therapy, I take medication, I work hard to have a lifestyle that keeps me stable, I cut off the wrong people, I refuse to work too hard or binge drink or go without sleep... wait, this isn't about me. What I'm saying is, strong people aren't broken, they stay out of relationships until they are ready to have them. Till maybe age 25 I can excuse people being troubled and not realising what they need to do to fix it, but at some stage a reasonable adult decides they don't want their life to be like this and they do what they can to get better. Some things you can't undo, but you don't need to spend your life being defined by being "broken".

People who go around looking for romantic partners to fix them, aren't fixable, because at some level being "broken" works for them. They enjoy being able to take from people, then pull away, do no work in the relationship and be like "Yeah well you knew I was broken." Then have the handmaiden give him all the attention and sex anyway while he does nothing.

Be real, if a man finds that being broken gets him laid, would he ever find the motivation to stop being "broken"?

Also, I'd never go with a guy who was trying to "monkeybranch" from an existing relationship. Staying in an unhappy relationship is LV behaviour. If he's willing to use that woman he'll be willing to use me.

The thing with such broken males is that they often aren't mentally healthy to begin with, thus their problem with working on themselves, fixing themselves, personal responsibility etc. If you now take care of him at the expense of your own growth (and we all need to grow and work on ourselves and our goals constantly) you neglect yourself for a lost cause.

In case you might have some success he won't respect you for it, but he might search someone "better" (if you are lucky this happens sooner and not after years of marriage and raising his offspring) as he takes you for granted, thinks he can now do a partner- upgrade, and probably isn't now suddenly a mentally or emotionally healthy and good person, and you probably have downgraded yourself while redirecting a lot of energy into another person who just didn't want to do it himself.

All this has nothing to do with a healthy relationship in which both people can help each other grow.
