Obviously this is fucked up and I don't blame you at all for being livid over it. Not to mention the fact that I would've done the same (found them). But there also is an opportunity here. You could walk around all excited singing various songs about your wife. Swing a dick around like a helicopter, and even fake have phone calls with buddy's (or real) and say "Its so awesome to have her finally gone bro!, BBQ this weekend to celebrate!?".

If you're still leaving the cameras where they areat, when the kids aren't there- walk thru the house naked like there is no camera. I wouldn't even acknowledge out loud that you know about it, just go about your life. Be careful on finding it cause it might have a battery as backup.

So.. I am pretty tech savvy.. set up my Unifi network.. e.g. a gateway plugged in to modem, switches, etc. I can enable/block any wifi or wired device, etc. I have blocked specific kids devices at times when they aint doing their chores, etc.

That said.. as far as I know we have the one modem in the house (isp provider) and my gateway is the only network (wired) connection to it. It does not have wifi on it. I can see ALL devices wired/wifi on my Unifi app..

So.. as far as I know.. no spy camera/etc works without wifi or bluetooth. If its bluetooth it has very limited range and wont be accessible via outside right? Unless there is some paid for cellular service option that I am not aware of.

Even so.. as far as I am told (I live in a 50/50 state in the US).. NOTHING can be used in any way against me in a divorce (contested or not) UNLESS it was a crime like murder, rape, etc. But if she somehow caught me looking in her closet or drawers.. or recorded me saying some shit to a friend/family/lawyer on the phone.. it cant be used against me because I did not give her permission to record.. and vice versa. I have a couple cameras set up as safety against her doing something stupid like making up bullshit against me. But otherwise I cant use any of it.. audio or video in divorce. So really a camera is only going to protect against something pretty drastic. For example.. if she calls the cops and claims I beat her in an argument (we have a few kids still living here as witnesses too).. I could verify with video that it didnt happen.

When my stbxw became violent towards me during our in home seperation, I notifed her that I would take additional steps to protect myself and my daughter. She went on her beach vacation with my daughter and I went ahead and setup cameras in various common areas of the house including the kitchen, hallways, living room and so on. I placed them in areas we had the most arguments where she would get angry. They were never in the bathroom and required to be plugged in for power so now battery.

She came back and was pissed. I informed them that the cameras were there for our protection while we ride out the remainder of the in home 1 year seperation. Well the presence of the cameras didn't deter her violence against me.

Over the next several months, the cameras recorded how violent she got when she didn't get what she wanted. In one event, she went behind my back, reached for a blunt object and nearly smashed it behind my head. During that conversation I wasn't cursing or being threatening and she came at my face. I remained calm. It wasn't until after I reviewed the footage how close she came to striking me in the head. It could have been fatal.

Even though she knew there were cameras in the house, that didn't stop her from making a 3 hour sex sequence with her paramour. Unfortunately he is in another country so no physical contact. Just a lot of nudes, videos and picture sending , masterbation while screaming his name. She put him on speaker phone so I could hear the convo.

Came back to the house and she acted like nothing happened.

Talked to the police and they said because she stopped herself from making contact, there was nothing I could do.

I would just behave your self in the home and act normal. If she starts questioning or telling you why you are doing a normal activity then just blow her off. I would use a recorder app. Some smart watches have a recorder app on them as well. If she records your convos with other people and try to use it against you then most likely it will be tossed.

My lawyer is still fuzzy about the sex act with the paramour over video in the marital home being recorded since it wasn't physical....however she said that in combination with social media posts of her kissing him, text messages and pictures between them do line up where it is strongly implied that she is engaging in sexual activities with her paramour.

How sure are you that there are hidden cameras? The small discrete spy cameras need to be hooked up to permanent power source. You need skills to hide these cameras that can be powered by line voltage from light fixtures or smoke detectors I would imagine. The consumer grade cameras are larger and hard to conceal.

Ive been wondering the same thing. Checked my router mac address connections and they all seem like our home devices. Except the wired connections. There should only be my computer but there are 4 other. 2 amazon based devices and 2 unknown. There shouldnt be any other mac addresses if my PC is the only hardlined device no? Do the ethernet port switches around the house register with mac adresses?

If the cameras connect to wifi just change the wifi settings New WIFI password or different WIFI SSID would do the trick for the camera devices to loose connection.

* Cameras placed in private areas, especially those used for dressing or bathrooms, can be legally questionable ven in a shared home. Check your state/country specific privacy laws that could work in your favor here. If this is a violationyou could bring it up with your attorney, who may advise you
* Use a network scanner on the wifi or better use the one provided by the Internet provider. You should find a list of all connecte devices. Try to scan it at a late hour when tv, computer personal usage are stopped or low bandwidth so only camera & autonom devices still working
Usually a google query with the name could tell u what is it. If not, just take the device outsideof wikfi reach & scan again. If the device disappear from the connected device, you have find it.
If you cant find it:

Hidden Camera Detector Apps: they use your phone's flashlight to detect small camera lenses, or the phone’s magnetometer to pick up electromagnetic signals.
Lens Detector:they emit red or white light that reflects off camera lenses, making them easier to spot
Thermal Imagers can pick up on the heat , especially if the camera is actively streaming. You can find thermal image plug to usb smarthphone from 200$/500$ range so u use your phone'screen

You can access the router, and identify every device by MAC or IP. or device name... anything you don;t know you can MAC address block.

EDIT : If you find it/them... you can remove them from your wifi, yes. Perhaps they are wifi connected to your next door neighbor's wifi? Ugh... just thought of that. I would examine all the secret camera devices Available on Amazon or other websites to get a lay of the land... as to what kind of devices specifically to look for. If you don;t have time to get a camera detector... THen casually look for them. If you can't find them, I would power down the router/cablemodem and scour the house.

Another idea... If you are able to find them, you might be able to figure out the maker and get the app to connect/control them. Of course you wouldnt want to actually do this, but wouldn't it be something to power it down, move it to a private/privacy expected area, and get lots of video of you doing private things, and then show it all off to the court. Pikacho suprised face!

Depending on where it is (once you find it) I would just block it with something inconspicuous. If it’s a cellphone charger block plugged into an outlet, I’d just move something infront of it sometime and once she moves it, I’d move it back again. Or lean a broom up against it, maybe a big pile of clothes.

If it’s like a fake smoke detector, I’d go and buy a new one and swap it out. Tell her the hallway one was dying and you bought a three pack and just figured you’d replace them all now before they die.

I’d have some fun with it for sure.

Knowledge is power. You know the camera is there and she doesn’t know that you know. Unless you have something to hide leave it there and act accordingly.

When the trial comes inform your lawyer. Discovery should be a blast. A picture of the device and a screenshot of its connection to your WiFi will be a bonus.

If you have Xfinity, the app is really clear about what devices are connected. And easy to boot off. I’m sure it’s the same for other providers, but I’m only familiar with Xfinity

The first thing I did was change the WiFi password when my ex left.

She’ll know you are onto her if she sees the camera go offline. You could get pretty creative if you wanted to….

You really need to find the cameras first because they may have offline storage capabilities.

It has to be transmitting over your home wifi network. If you can’t locate the camera itself, go into your home network and disconnect any device you don’t recognize. Then password protect the network access.
