My marriage lacked true intimacy. A year's worth of sobriety and lots of counseling has helped my understand that. But at 45 & having zero sex for over a year, the concept of finding even a hook up seems improbable. The apps are truly pointless, every woman on there has ludicrous expectations and more than 90% of them are not attractive to begin with. Meeting women in real life? That seems like a lot of work... I kid! But, not really. A casual hook up with someone in the wild so to speak, is that even possible?

To me, if you combine the cold covert narcissism of my wife of 15 years plus the complete let down of the dating apps for the past couple months (if you do the math, someone my age, Bumble, Tinder, etc seemed like a boon to guys) it's enough to start understanding the Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) stuff and I don't want that.
