Yep it's a one way ticket to icksville if a man acts like a toddler, pretends to be a toddler, or you start treating him like a toddler.

And don’t fake orgasms for men! I’m sure all of us here know not to do this, but unfortunately this is so common due to our socialisation and this has led to men having huge egos yet being terrible at sex.
If he doesn’t make an effort and doesn’t give you an orgasm, boy BYE!

I’ve NEVER understood this. Why do we reward men for doing something that doesn’t work for us? I know sometimes it’s just to “get it over with” but we are just training men to think that their hopeless skills and lacklustre pumps are enough to get you off. Why are women so ashamed of the fact that we don’t cum on sight of a penis or the merest touch of a tongue? You don’t see men pushing us away saying “It’s ok, this is taking too long, you don’t have to keep going”. Make them work for it, sis and don’t reward crap efforts.

Eh, in the past it has been to make them stop. Some won't until they think you've "finished" and you just want them to stop. Not saying it's the best reason, nor should anyone stay with a person like that, though. Gross.
[–]WildUnitFDS Newbie 25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh I totally get it. There were many times in my 20s I would think “Oh, FFS, just cum already because this is doing nothing for me, I’m bored, you’re heavy and it’s bloody hot”. I just refused to ever lie about in a way that “saved their feelings”. I would sometimes moan etc. but when they asked afterwards, I wouldn’t say that I came. I would say I enjoyed it anyway if it was true but would just leave it hanging if it wasn’t. 😉
[–]pangolinplatypusFDS Newbie 27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, this was also in my 20's. Nowadays I would be less shy. The boredom was real. Just remember thinking, "Can we be done now? Can we? Please?" Books to read, taxes to do, walks to take, decisions to reflect on...
Some of them have this thing with "I always make women cum."

That’s why the sooner you gently move their hand or tell them what works, the better. Otherwise, it becomes so much harder to extricate yourself later. (Always bearing in mind to trust your gut - women often report they’re scared to upset or offend a guy in case he becomes violent and/or abusive).

The lie that we didnt DO enough to keep them 🤡 if they leave its because they want something new to play with because theyre shallow. Men are the real hypergamous gender 🙄 you could be doing everything right, IT DOESNT MATTER we have no control over what they do.
Machine gun kelly said loving someone is how much youre scared to lose them.
You dont need to do anything to keep a man if he actually loves you. And if its mutual its golden, no questions in your mind about how they feel.
PS first bf said it didnt matter if the next girl is inferior to me in every way its just about newness. Its never you, they just dont know what they want. Even if the grass isnt greener, its not their grass so they want it to sow their own seeds 🤢 which i guess means men dont really care that much about looks, some men just cant fight the curiosity of what sex will be like with more women. Thats what he told me. It reminds me of the song 'Lets have intercourse' from the Crazy Ex Girlfriend show.
[–]gluckkkFDS Newbie 39 points40 points41 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I LOVE Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It was such a realization to me when I heard the “Love Crumbs” song. So many of us women hold on to the slightest ounce of attention from the person we like, turning every little thing they do into a positive “sign” for us to continue hoping. Rebecca has some serious pick-me tendencies but it’s very eye-opening to watch it all play out.

I always wondered this... what do you tell people that ask you "what do YOU bring at the table?". I know that people love using this phrase (not necessarily romantic interests) if you God forbid have standards and say that: hey I want a x amount of characteristics in a man.
This stuff always caught me off guard.
[–]applestormFDS Newbie 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You just don't answer. Stand up and leave or block and delete. You don't have to explain yourself. He either knows your worth or he doesn't.
[–]Express_Chocolate_60FDS Newbie 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'm talking about people in general IRL that ask this, not dudes.
[–]applestormFDS Newbie 32 points33 points34 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Then you proudly say "NOTHING". You are the table. Bear in mind that anyone who asks you what you bring to the table is malicious and just seek to belittle you. They already know what you 'bring' but wants you to explain yourself anyway.
[–]thinktwiceorelseFDS Newbie 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If people who are close to you ask this question, it's really weird because they should already know what your qualities are. I can't imagine asking my friend who I love because of who she is: So what's that great about you anyway? You don't deserve a good man, because you're nothing." That's basically what they're trying to say. They wanna hurt you, nothing more, nothing less. And I wouldn't talk to people who want to hurt me. So block and delete, or at least ignore them, is the best thing you can do.

Southeast Asian, combination of East Asian culture and Islamic values 😩 unfortunately this happens to women in my upbringing too. They are so misogynistic despite them being women themselves. I was raised that if your husband leaves you for another woman, it's all your fault because you're not a good wife. Also there are some concepts on being "real women". My aunt was in labor for 47 hours and ended up getting emergency c section and her in laws mocked and disparaged her because she didn't give birth vaginally unmedicated.

[–]SayNadFDS Apprentice 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ugh even when the daughters literally losing sleep taking care of their sick parents, what comes out of their mouth is "Where is my son? I miss him". And that 30-minute visit from their son is all they talk about. The daughter overcooked the porridge once? She literally the worse sinner to ever exist. Ughhhhhh.
It is not even with parents tough, I notice within social circle too men can be the absolute worthless POS and everybody is like "Chill, that just how he is" but if us women make mistake once you literally got ostracized for weeks, even years by both men and women. What the absolute fucking hell is this.
[–]caramealsFDS Newbie 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hahahaha this is true about the 30 minutes visit from sons. My uncles never take care of my grandmother. They only visited on Christmas day. My aunt on the other hand, has to live in small city with her, working as store assistant making minimum wage despite working everyday in order to take care of my grandma. Yet almost everyday she talks about how she misses my uncles and literally prays for them 🤡🤡
One of them is in the brink of divorce because he's a LVM and his wife couldn't take it anymore. Grandma called his wife to "give him a chance, he's just stressed you know, you should make him feel like a man again, don't be a selfish woman, look at the kids they're gonna be the victims if you're divorced" 😩😩🤡🤡🤡🤡
Men who are above 30 and single: he has no time to date, he's busy working, he's a hard worker, he's independent. Women who are above 30 and single: she's too picky, she talks too much, she isn't feminine, look at the way she dresses! She must settle down now because no man would want her as she's too old!!!

Ugh I hate our older generation pickmes the most. Like they are literally unhappy every single day - we all can see that as clear as day. And they are complaining about their LVM manchild husband every freakin' holiday!
Yet when we the younger generation refuse to enter such toxic marriage, suddenly marriage is the magic of unicorn farts and whyyyyy aren't you married yet??? You must marry NOW or else you will die rotting alone! Nobody wants you past 30! You are not a real woman if you don't think about men and their "greatness" 24/7!!!!
I don't know who they are trying to desperately convince, but that sure ain't me. The best they can offer when I asked why I need a man when I can get anything myself - it is so that I won't be lonely eating out alone, or watching movies alone.
Literally need to sacrifice your entire life cleaning after a lazy POS manchild so that people don't see you eating alone in public like ???? What in the bloody hell is that nonsense???

Agree, and add that you have to be careful of men you’re not friendly with at work too. I had a supervisor who didn’t like me (he blatantly told me I was weird in front of our whole team) and he would constantly make me do more work than everyone else - even on holidays - and I would also be set up for failure. And I kept trying because I thought that if I just persevered, I would have a wonderful career. I kept thinking that until his actions (there’s a lot I’m leaving out) led me to a mental breakdown.
So yeah, be professional, but be cautious, and learn to say no.

[–]sahu_FDS Newbie 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Love this post! Thanks for writing it! I've always somehow played it very cool in the workplace and set boundaries from day one - no overtime unless it's an emergency and other than minor scuffles I have earned the respect of my superiors at work over time. They do see the unique skills you bring to the table if you dole it out in small amounts.
That being said, sometimes I've seen that the 'killing yourself at work' is a double standard. You're not supposed to look like you're working that much but you need to work that much to finish all your tasks on time anyway. Still struggling to strike that balance to make my life not all about work haha.

Common for them to seek assistance in the guise of friendship. They're lightning fast to take the complete credit and lap up the resulting promotions.
Then you have those hellbent on fucking you. Firing off compliments and suggestions of better pay. I've seen colleagues target young starters, gunning for nudes to spread or gossip that ruins women's careers.

When I was much younger (college aged, I’m 46 now), one of my friends’ mothers told us we needed to do these things because men had to be babied. I thought it was bullshit. Later I found myself doing these things for my second husband and I made the mistake of thinking he was worth it. He was higher value than my first husband and better than a lot of men, but.....he did not reciprocate with maturity in the relationship, and he pretty much immediately blamed me for everything if I ever dipped on worshipping his worthless ass. The only thing he brought to the relationship with me providing first was money (and I was still well employed). Everything else I had the emotional and physical labor of leading and hoping he’d reciprocate. Unsurprisingly, that is exhausting. I have come full circle. This is all bullshit.

I needed to hear this today. Thank you. I’m currently dating a depressed guy and I’m doing a lot of this “because he’s depressed”. Maybe. Or maybe he’s a LVM and I shouldn’t waste another minute on him.
[–]dzgataFDS Disciple 126 points127 points128 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
He needs therapy, not a gf, rn. You don’t owe him that labor unless he’s paying you an hourly rate for therapy. The only way I’m doing significant emotional labor for a man is if he’s proven to actually love me, we are married and settled in our marriage- and he does the same for me when I need it.
It’s easy to feel guilty for not doing the emotional labor for random men bc society constantly pressures women to feel obligated to do free unreciprocated labor for any and all men. No.

Even if he is depressed sis, it’s not excuse.
I just recently called out and then blocked my depressed ex who was my friend. I told him once that in order to be friendship with me, the bare minimum is to let me know how you’re doing and if you need time alone. Doesn’t matter if it’s a day, week, or months. It takes 5 seconds to tell me this. I am not going to be spending my nights worried sick over a friend if they can’t even reassure me they’re ok after they say some concerning depressed stuff.
Don’t let men tell you it’s because they’re depressed. That excuse only goes so far. You shouldn’t be the only one holding up this relationship. If you’re already having these thoughts, you already know what to do.

I did this “because he’s depressed” dance for 4 years. It’s not worth it sis. I read a comment on another thread yesterday that said something to the effect of “we get less than what we settle for.” I settled for the depressed guy who turned into the guy whose depression made him chronically unemployed and it got worse and worse and I got much less than what I settled for. Don’t let guilt or sunk cost fallacy keep you there longer than you need to be because it does not get better.

even if they actually want you to do these things at the same time they can also tell that you have no respect for your own time or emotional labor so they won't even respect you in the end if you do or appreciate it. men are MOTIVATED when you stop putting up with their shit - they outwardly want you to but secretly hope you don't so they can be inspired to be a better man so if you can't do it for yourself at first know it's better all around no matter what. I wish I could get my best friend to read this... she’s incredibly bored in this quarantine and (I know y’all, I know, before y’all read this next statement...) the man she’s planning on being with isn’t divorced yet. This woman MADE A BINDER of all the steps he needs to go through to get his restraining order against his wife and attached all necessary documents. Granted, this man really is in a terribly abusive relationship, I won’t take that away from him ever because it’s horrible to go through that, but a binder?? Girl... please. Make sure he leaves this relationship first at the very least... I’m so worried about her but she won’t listen to me. She’s doing the most and this man didn’t even buy her a birthday gift... I guess I’m just as bad because I’m trying to make up for his nonsense and am buying her gifts for her birthday and cooking her dinner for Christmas. My worry for her is outweighing my morals....

I keep saying to her, “Look, I’m well aware I may end up alone but at least I know I won’t end up with someone who treats me like an afterthought”. My boundaries took a coercive marriage and some solid therapy to come to life but now I have them, I look back on myself with compassion and sorrow - why did I think the very least was all I was worthy of?
I hope my friend gets it one day too. She’s just so terrified of being alone and hasn’t done the work in therapy to find out why she keeps getting involved with the same kind of losers over and over again.

And then they coo about how thoughtful their male spawn is and how cool it is that all of a sudden he knows his way around wrapping paper.

My friend is a hardworking single mother to 3 ungrateful boys. The day before her birthday, she reminded them it was her birthday tomorrow. On the flipside, this woman saves every penny for her boys, foregoing food so that her boys can have the best etc.
