The term "exclusive" has become a way for unsuspecting women to sleepwalk into situationships with men who want nothing more than sex. Even though the term implies that you are the only one he is seeing, the reality is that he will not see you as his partner unless he explicitly states that he wants you to be his girlfriend.

Do not be fooled by semantics and end up wasting your time with men who only want to smash. Men have clocked that more and more women are saying no to one night stands. So they have come up with a term that gives them all the benefits of an exclusive relationship without them actually having to be exclusive. They will be keeping their options whilst expecting you to be Wifey/Girlfriend. When you then call them out on their lack of investment and commitment, they will turn around and tell you that you aren't in a relationship. Furthermore, men will use this "exclusive" arrangement as a reason to duck out of taking responsibility for their own contraception and will start pushing for bareback (whilst you suffer the side effects of hormonal birth control). Say no to that.

You are single until a man tells and shows you that he wants to be in a committed relationship with you.
