Everything right here! I've absolutely had it with people acting like women brought all this crap on themselves basically because we stood up for ourselves after centuries and millennia of towing the line. That's the part that people don't get. Even when women were doing everything right following every single social protocol dressing perfectly from head to toe etc etc we were still being treated like crap and we were still being forced into a corner.
And the disconnection isn't just present with men as we all know! And I'm convinced that the women who go along with this stuff and who yell and scream at us too are actually in some kind of survival mode. Yup. I was raised in Purity Culture and the men there were TERRIBLY abusive and even more entitled. I actually think being a fundie is what ruined my dad over time. He started out semi decent to my mom, even built her a house by hand, but had a lot of trauma that was never addressed and eventually developed a porn addiction. He has a lonely old age ahead now because of how emotionally abusive he's been to his whole family. Meanwhile, my poor mom struggled so hard to deal with having to be a bangmaidbroodmare and not getting to fulfill her ambitions, all for what? It's been so nice to help her get away and see her start to glow up and be happy again.

There's a great book I want to check out called the Great Sex Rescue by Sheila Wray Gregoire. She and other Christian women wrote all about how damaging the purity culture is and was, and it's supposed to be a better healthier more balanced way to look at things that's not woman hating or shaming! Also it does not excuse or condone legitimize or justify men's s***** behavior or their lust/appetites!
I'm glad to see more people catching on to this and I've been especially excited to see things like some of the Duggar girls separating from their family and doing things like wearing pants! And hearing stories like yours where you guys were able to get away although I wish it wasn't happening at all! 💖🥰

I'm no longer a Christian but I did find out some crazy ways the Bible translations were twisted - like eshet chayil which is translated "men of valor" OR "women of virtue." Virtue used to have connotations of power and potency but over the years has come to have only moral meanings to most people, so they never realized that the Proverbs 31 woman is supposed to be BRAVE and STRONG.
Or the keeper at home verse in Titus which is actually "guardian of the house" or essentially being in charge of all the household decisions.
Or ezer kenegdo, help meet, which ezer is most often used to describe God himself as a strong savior, and kenegdo means in front of or corresponding to.
And plenty more where the original meanings were deliberately twisted by scrotes.

YES! I just recently found out about that last one for the helpmate! Wow, was that one eye opening! And finding out about the original Greek for wives submit to your husbands and then it does not mean what we've all been taught it means and it was something actually way more awesome and empowering although I can't remember what it was off hand because I've only heard it once!
There's a verse in Jeremiah 31 where God talks about doing a new thing on the Earth and it says something like a woman protects a man or a woman should compass a man. The explanation on that verse in my notes was something along the lines of when we're in heaven we won't need the protection of men so blah blah blah and I was like well why would you need the protection of anyone? Like that literally makes no sense and it felt like a way to undermine that verse.
Had no idea about the brave and strong aspect of the Proverbs 31 Woman but that totally makes sense!
