Whenever anyone asks that, I feel like the subtext is, "What personality flaws are you really hiding so that no man wants to be involved with you?"

The answer: No one is qualified to date me. And I'm totally fine with that. I'm not settling for some whacko man who offers nothing to improve my life.

Yeah I fuckin hate this question the most because they NEVER EVER EVER want to hear the actual answer.

I have started just honestly giving it to em. Snapping my fingers and everything, and asking “do you see a man around here good enough for me?” puts hand above eyes, looks around, like a sailor “because I sure do not!!!” Shuts them up, usually with an uncomfortable laugh. And I get a little kick because oh, you have to uncomfortable laugh — for once.

I’ve started being completely honest about this question and I reply with “Well, I could’ve been married twice already but decline their proposals so I could focus on my goals instead.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

EDIT: What’s interesting is the difference in men’s reaction to this versus when I used to JUST mention my decision to focus on my career instead.

There’s something in sharing that other men wanted to “wife me up” that somehow results in them respecting me more.

Men love saying this to attractive women especially as they can’t understand why an attractive woman wouldn’t be making herself available and opening her legs for a man & catering to him. They think they must adore men & their attention. Most men see attractive women as community sex /ego supply. They all want a piece and feel entitled to it. It’s usually the opposite- attractive women get harassed too much & know how fickle they are /how many play the same games. It’s boring.

The more women get approached & harassed by men the less they see value in them. Just keep seeing the same loser with the same tricks & monologues. Ohhhh pls trust me & give me a crumb of pussy I’m not like the otheeeeer guys :( except they are. And women get bored of it. It’s not funny. It’s not cute. It is mind numbingly BORING. I’d rather watch paint dry. So I won’t budge unless he’s doing the most.

They think women must be assigned to men & there’s something wrong if they are not. It’s because men desire us more than we desire them.

Realistically smart attractive women get enough of their futile attention & don’t want it unless the guys worthwhile.

It’s funny because it’s usually low value ppl who are most likely to settle down fast & be ok with having anyone or putting up with bullshit. Ppl with esteem aren’t in a rush to be tied down to someone just for the sake of it. So when the manosphere calls us ‘undesirable’ I just laugh. They know the types of women THEY desire are fussy & don’t roll over. That’s why it scares them the big cats are spilling their notes cos they’ve had enough. And women who get approached by men often have bibles worth of them. Lol. Their games become so predictable it’s boring.

A man once asked ‘why’s a nice girl like you single then?’.....I said ‘cos I’m smart’....he said ‘lol yeah that’s true 95% of men are immature & the other 4% is gay or taken’.

I said so wtf are you asking me why I’m single as if that’s weird then? Point A. Because I’m smart & don’t want to be tied to a sinking chump. Men are very afraid and perplexed by women who see through them.

Most women are overqualified- it’s the men who aren’t suitable.

Today a man saw me getting into my car and said having a nice car means I must not have any kids. He then asked my age. I told him and he was surprised then I drove off listening to my music before he could ask me out.

I’ve been asked why I’m single so often it’s like a broken record. I don’t even respond to it anymore. So what. I gave many guys a chance and they flopped or were regularly disrespectful lol.

It's not even just the question in this case, it's the entire scenario. How absolutely inappropriate. Sure, the guy who does it at the bar/hangout with friends is also annoying but at least you're already in a casual setting and people say all kinds of dumb shit when drunk. Next time you find yourself in a situation with a scrote like this and you can't leave... don't answer and instead ask them "what does this have to do with me flipping a house?" And then start leaving.

You really should let your friend know what this scrote said and embarrassed him for being so unprofessional and using it as a tactic to sell his houses and feel you out for potential dates. Flipping houses is something I would like to do in the future and warning others about his unprofessional behavior could help others dodge the bullet too.

I mean the bigger issue is asking a flipper for advice. This is the wrong way to go about it. Flipping is originally a derogatory term used to describe someone who does the least to get the most profit. You’re trying to buy a historic house, you want someone who is sympathetic to and knowledgeable about these sorts of houses. A flipper is more likely to poach the listing from you and buy it behind your back and then tear out all the elements of character and paint everything grey. And predictably he tried to turn your consultation into an economic or sexual opportunity for him by trying to make a profit off you with a sale and asking inappropriate questions about your relationship status. I would never trust a flipper. You would not believe the predatory immoral crap flippers are doing in my neighborhood.

I’ve owned two historic houses. This current one was/is a big fixer upper that I bought with cash, so since I did not need an inspection for a mortgage, I called up contractors I’ve previously worked with and had them check each of the major systems of the house. If you are getting a mortgage, pay for your bank required inspection and take notes of anything that is concerning and then call out a contractor for that specific trade and get their opinion and estimate. Your best source for appropriate skilled contractors is other historic home owners in your neighborhood. Neighborhood associations or neighborhood online forums are good sources to make connections.

To answer your question about “why are you single “, I’d just respond “because I want to be. It’s really nice” and depending on how spicy you are feeling, maybe turn it around and say “Why are you married (single as the case maybe)?!”
