(EDIT: Just want to say thank you all for your kind words and advice! I was truly blown away by all of your kindness!!! So Thank You. I have taken your advice on board. I have talked to my dad and a lawyer as the police have taken down a statement. We are looking into pressing charges against the woman who physically assaulted me.

Having anything done in regards to my boss is a bit more complicated but I guess I will see what can be done..if anything.

Thank you to those who gave me an award! It was very thoughtful and kind and it does mean a lot to me.

To those accusing me of lying, all I can say is, if that's your opinion then that's your opinion. I'm not going to try and change it. Believe what you will. But I will say that: You don't know me or my life if you don't have anything nice to say then please move on. )

So I was absent-mindedly going about my business at work when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a female customer with an eye-catching design with writing going in two different directions. I (still somewhat absent-minded) turned because I wanted to know what the shirt said..something about "if you can read this you are one of the top 30%- slap. Apparently I was staring at well...her boobs...according to her anyway.

A whole big thing ensued where cameras were checked, I had to defend myself over and over from angry customer and boss and try to avoid sexual harassment labels and charges. I explained everything in detail even said the shirt was eye catching etc indicating the shirt...was told " stop pointing at her boobs you perve...

Sigh...

By this time word had spread to the rest of my co-workers and public opinion had set in.

I had had enough so I stopped customer and boss mid rant/discussion (they hadn't stopped talking at me and discussing back and forth about firing and charges) I sadly thought my boss would try to look out for her own workers...sadly she didn't. I hadn't had any problems with my boss in all my time working there so this was surprising.

I said something along the lines of "ok let's really sort this out, I'll call the police myself and lay charges of assault" Silence....just Silence. Then "why would you do THAT?" My boss. The customer appeared very pale and didn't seem to know what to say all of a sudden. "Well I'd rather let someone else deal with all this seeing as how I know what you both want"

Then I guess the customer found her voice " It's fine I'll let it all go, you don't have to worry about sexual harassment charges, really don't worry. I will just leave it and your manager can deal with everything." My boss seemed to be of the opinion that I had made a mistake and latched on to the police idea. So she insisted on it and so I, (uncomfortable) customer and my boss waited for the police.

The police (two of them) arrived, talked to myself my boss and customer. Checked cameras, talked to four people who were still shopping around the store to "see if they witnessed anything or offer insight" Police were pushing for my charges of assault. Yay. " But he was sexualy harassing me! He was staring at my boobs!!!" "Staring doesn't give you, let alone anyone the right to physically assault anyone." "I was NOT staring! I was caught off guard by your shirt and wanted to know what it says" I say for (what felt like) the thousandth time. "LIAR!" "Lady even I have to admit the shirt is very noticeable" said one of the police officers.

This goes on and on for a while......a while. Eventually the customer apologises and says she "may have gone overboard" I dropped the charge. I was tired and hurt by everyone's reaction and assumption at this point and just wanted to go home. The customer and police leave. Police give firm warning to the customer beforehand. Leaving me with my boss. I ask "Why? Why did you immediately take her side? Why didn't you at least hear me out? The answer I got was infuriating. " Well it's not the first time a man was caught looking at something he shouldn't, come on you'll get over it. Just don't be a pervert next time."

I got up (shocked and sad) silently. Unsure of what to do or say. And went home (boss was angry about that to) early. No co-workers reached out or cared..public opinion at its finest. I had only been working there for four going on five years and hadn't given any reason for anyone to think negatively about me. Called my dad on the phone and he immediately offered support and a job (he owns a small little grocery shop two hours away) Came back to work the next day, gave in my resignation papers(to a very annoyed boss) and left without saying a word to anyone.

Someone might have hit the fire alarm on the way out..oops. Thankfully the alarm is just that an alarm. Forces people out but doesn't notify the fire department.

I'm sorry for any errors, there was a bit more to the story but this is the gist of it.

If you made it this far then truly thank you for reading.
