No. Visceral disgust comes from bad hygiene/smell or behaviors and personality. I’ve never felt disgust based on looks alone.

Yeah, some skin infection can do it. There is also the "they remind me of someone who terrified me or behaved in a disgusting way", so a pattern recognition kicks in.

Extremely rarely. Me not being attracted to someone doesn’t mean I am viscerally disgusted by them. They have to look uniquely bad for me to be viscerally disgusted, and I would feel sorry for them for whatever problem they have that makes them look this way. I am keeping this separate from hygiene but am talking about looks only.

Yes, but only if i can feel that theyre hitting on me. Im quite friendly normally, and also have winking tics that can look like flirting. Sometimes older men or other people can misinterpret that and I get a panicky feeling

It really depends on the setting but like if I’m just going about my day very very few people are notable in either direction. If I’m grocery shopping a person would have to be really good looking for me to break out of my shopping mode and think wow how gorgeous. Like model or actor level.

Similarly a person would have to be really ugly in the other direction. The reverse brad pitt or Angelina Jolie.

If we’re just being super honest here I don’t think I’ve ever disgusted about anyone just facially. No one is that ugly without open wounds or literal deformity like burns or something. but yes for really big people but probably based on the prejudice /anticipation of bad hygiene. Maybe it’s because they would be taking up the entire aisle at a grocery store? I’m not talking just could lose a few pounds. More like my 600 lb life level of how are they walking?

Is it nice? No. Do I show it? Also no. But yeah that level of morbid obesity triggers the same disgust reflex as a wound or burn on the face.

Of clean and societal men, only very fat men. I'm talking 500+ pounds. It's difficult to see someones body like that, it does look gross to me. But I mostly felt pity. And I was still kind to them and tried to be helpful (this was when I had a retail job)

I remember this happening like once or twice in my entire life but it was because they tried to talk to me about their sex life that I didn’t want to know about. I also didn’t even know him.

All the other times I was disgusted with men it had nothing to do with looks, like having corn shit breath and trying to tell me a secret.

Yes. Actually earlier in the week I was so disgusted by a group of 3 men that I moved seats on the train.
They smelled, didn’t have their trousers pulled up so hairy bum crack on display. Stood way too close to me. I was sitting and they were standing so their arses were almost eye level for me. I was thinking I’m less than a metre from this man’s bum hole and it repulsed me.

In general I don't really notice people. Unless they interact specifically with me everyone is invisible. That goes for men and women btw. I only notice people that are outside the average range. So exceptionally pretty or exceptionally disgusting. Exceptionally disgusting is usually a lack of hygiene. People with dirty clothes, bad breath, body odor. Walking in a supermarket behind a guy that smells so bad it makes me gag - I will notice him and get disgusted. Look wise they would have to have something very negative. Like extremely greasy hair, very very unkempt hair/beard, flaky dandruff all over their clothes. And I mean really bad. I don't care if someone has some morning hair or the beard is a little too long or whatever. It has to be extreme to give me a visceral reaction. Otherwise I see people and instantly forget them again. I have no reaction to normal people. They leave no impression on me.

Only if they have rotten teeth that are visibly loose. The idea of teeth falling out horrifies me. I'm not one for freaking out. I can stay calm and rational in most situations, but not when it comes to teeth. The first time my partner ever saw me cry was when my gum started bleeding randomly, and I lost my shit.

So long as their teeth are either in their head or already out, I wouldn't have a visceral reaction to how someone looks.

Agree w the other commenter (there's only one other at the time I'm starting this comment but that'll prob change bc I tend to be long winded)

Hygiene is honestly the 100% biggest one: I feel repulsed by men with dirty and/or way overgrown fingernails, hair that is somehow both dangerously dry/frizzy and dripping in grease, unkempt facial hair (esp overlong beards/mustaches that dip into food/bev), stained/soiled clothing. And omg, ODOR is a major issue: body odor is bad enough, but the absolute worst is bad breath (from chronic neglect of dental care, not just like "it's the end of the day and I'm not as fresh as I could be"). At my HS graduation I was sitting next to someone whose breath was absolutely atrocious and I couldn't focus on anything else, so all I remember from that ceremony is trying not to breathe through my nose too much: the smell of food/plaque that has been rotting between unbrushed teeth is absolutely nauseating - if you don't believe me, floss your teeth when you wake up (BEFORE brushing) and then smell the floss.

Another immediate NO factor for me is Machitos/wannabe-chads: men who display obnoxious macho bravado (LOUD, aggressive - sexually and otherwise, cocky/bragadocious; etc) in appearance/attitude/speech, to signal their ~~frantic coping~~ supposed virility as an "alpha/chad/whatever your preferred term for supreme clown is;" and who harass female friends, acquaintances, and strangers at will. They feel entitled to women's time/attention bc in their eyes, they are such elite men that they're doing those women a favor by even glancing. They use those tryhard MANLY MAN™ personas to torment/intimidate/manipulate those around them (men and women alike) and they throw absolute toddler-style category 5 TANTRUMS if they feel that their superior masculinity has been questioned. This sort of dude is common in clubs (not rly my scene anymore but I've had my Moments - i.e. "Benders" - in the 2017-2023 lol) and their whole vibe is absolutely repulsive to me. They're of course disgusting because they display gross misogyny in how they treat and talk about the women around them.... but genuinely the biggest reason these dudes repel me is the CRINGE factor - their whole schtick is claiming to be the pinnacle of charisma and magnetism, yet they constantly strike out with women, have few (if any) close friends, and are still convinced (or at least trying to convince others) that they're the absolute hottest shit since sliced bread. It's just like... kinda embarrassing to watch them in the clubs making complete fools of themselves: like whoops, he fumbled yet another woman, and this time it was bc he decided to hop on his soapbox that he doesn't believe in condoms bc spreading genetics is the male biological imperative - yep, he described using condoms as being cucked by science again.... he's had one too many whiskey sours again, and who tf gave him a bump." Highly recommend observing wanna-be chads in the wild if you get the chance - definitely an endurance exercise in secondhand humiliation (luckily they don't have any humility so they don't feel any firsthand, no egomaniacs were harmed in the making of this comment) but in addition to painfully embarrassing to watch, it is also fabulously entertaining. But yeah those guys always fascinated (in a scientific specimen kinda way) and repulsed (in an attraction kinda way) me in equal measure, and I even had personal favorite Machitos in my local club scene based on their personal trademark method of crashing and burning romantically/socially lmfao, they might as well have approached each club night as a new opportunity to very publicly (and often epically) strike out with every single double X chromosome in the building. I'm married now, but even when I was single I never went to the clubs w the intention of finding someone to sleep with, and I never ever went home w someone I met in a club - for me, club nights are like an industrial conveyor belt of drugs and liquor directly into my body with a side of dancing, so idk... sex loses some of its mystique once I'm flying high on several different substances that release the same neurotransmitters that sex would, but More Efficiently. So, it was always interesting watching the people who were looking for a hookup, which of course included the Machitos as a revolving, repeating cast lol.

No, not really, unless he's got some kind of visibly contagious flesh-eating disease or something.

I used to have an eating disorder and still struggle with body dysmorphia, so I actually have quite a visceral reaction to obese women. I feel genuinely really bad for that and try not to react outwardly because it's totally my own issue to deal with.
