Dude, there is no equality. This is not a union. Every member of society has to optimize their competitiveness on the marketplace. A union is what is implemented in order to protect the weakest and least competitive members. But that also impedes the most competitive members. So even if in your fantasy every loser is assigned a wife and she is not allowed to leave you under the threat of imprisonment, keep in mind that you won't be able to leave her either. Maybe you are happy with this arrangement, but for a guy who can have any woman he wants this arrangement is horrendous.

At all times, in every relationship, there will be someone who's getting more from it, and someone else who's giving more.

All of human relationships are people manipulating and using each other to extract maximum benefit from others while giving as little as possible. Everyone does this - men and women both. It's just that right now, all of society is set up for women to "win". All a woman has to do is say "You want pussy, I have pussy. Do what I want, you MIGHT get some pussy." And of course, men do.

All you have to do is not accept treatment you don't like.

If you are a man:

Don't like being made to wait for sex? Find someone who doesn't play games and is attracted to you.

Don't like paying for meals? Don't do it.

I believe there's no going back at this point, technology will continue to advance, OLD will continue to evolve and be the normal. As more and more men continue to become socially awkward, shelter themselves for better or for worse, or just continue being "simps"; It's just going to continue to cause problems in the respect of "dating equality".

The only thing that will potentially bring any balance back is if guys collectively stop acting so desperate to get laid and creating such a supply and demand mismatch.

True equality, as a technical matter, is almost practically impossible between things that are not identical, such as genders. It is theoretically possible, but in practice, how would we know what metrics to use? How to weight those metrics? Etc.

But I do believe it is possible to get close enough that one cannot really know, and thus one won't care, who is advantaged. But you need a holistic approach to society and the common good to get there.

The other issue is that while I do believe that the genders are ultimately complementary and share more in terms of common goals than what divides them, there are strong tensions between there more primal sexual strategies. So the more that society is focused on and prioritizes sexual novelty, pleasure and hedonism, the harder it will be to find an equitable balance between the genders.

I don't think it's possible. Mainly because there would have to be more women than men to balance out all of the easy male attention women get for simply existing.

I'm not sure what that golden ratio of men/women would have to be but I'm fairly confident that it's not realistic without some sort of excessive intervention by the government or something crazy like that.

No. Equality does not exist in nature, and dating is the practice of using a great filter to get rid of most people so you can get to know the individuals left. We cannot expect for the established roles of men and women to become equal when these categories themselves are comprised of unequal individuals. It will never work.
