I think smart people probably aren’t that religious, can see through shady manipulations, and also be fully aware of what they want with who they want.

“Relax, it’s just sex” is probably their mindset more than “oh, I hope he really likes me! Oh, the church better not find out!”

If you spend any time reading the rights plan known as Project 2025, they are doing everything possible to reduce or restrict access to information and it is strangely focused on women.

The goal is and has been for a long time to remove access to education for women because of a lot of the outcomes we see in this space specifically. The more educated women are, the less likely they are to marry young, stay indoctrinated into a specific religion or even allow their children to be indoctrinated.

The more you can convince women that settling down young and having babies is the right thing to do the more you can pivot back to a space where people have kids while poor and create more mindless drones to work for the big corporations.

A lot of TRP and super conservative speak is very similar. If women know too much like how sex can and should be enjoyable for both partners and that they have options besides being a bang maid they want to limit access to that information.

I can explain as an intelligent person

Basically, all the smartest people move to cities for job opportunities.

So you have all these smart people with money and weaker social bonds.

These smart people aren't in a rush to settle down (life is good) and prioritize hobbies and other things.

Of course people are still meeting and dating. So these smart people have a long time to accumulate body count. Also smart people are rational and if they are horny, they will f*ck. Not as many hangups.

I prioritize intelligence pretty highly in a partner. A lot of the more promiscuous people who i've known were high intelligence extroverts. The shyer intelligent people I've known have tended to have lower counts, though.

Intelligence is probably the trait I'm pickiest about. And I agree that education doesn't necessarily equal intelligence, but the correlation is strong enough that I had better luck just not dating anyone who wasn't in college.

More intelligent people drink alcohol, use drugs, better at manipulation, and go to college where promiscuity runs rampant.

They also may strategize dating as a game. Sleeping with more people can increase your chances of landing the most desirable partner.

Just so you know, the source you are citing is from a right wing think tank that is not well respected in academic circles because of the bias in their studies. The argument being made about promiscuity and intelligence is a part of an overall right wing effort to demean, undermine and stigmatize knowledge and intelligence. Also, just in my experience as someone with a PhD who spends a lot of time around other people with PhD’s, I don’t find the link between intelligence and promiscuity to be particularly strong.

By “intelligent” they functionally mean young professionals. People less likely to settle down young, therefore giving them time to rack up more sexual partners.

It’s not complicated, and doesn’t have anything to do with intelligence being attractive.

I'd imagine it might have something to do with social groups. I've been in these circles a lot and know they tend to hook up with each other, it's not the healthiest environment. It's important to me that I have a partner who is intelligent, it's okay if they're not as smart as me but I'd like us to be able to have conversations we both understand that aren't about basic topics.

I find it impossible to be with someone who isn't at least somewhat intellectually stimulating. Ideally I'd want a partner with a similar level of intelligence as me but those are hard to find because, in my experience, intelligent women tend to be extraordinarily prickly, or flat-out hide their intelligence.

I'm actually surprised that there seems to be a positive correlation between intelligence and getting laid. Perhaps, again, religiosity is the mediating factor.

Smartness makes people more secular which makes people less inhibited.

As for the happiness issue, religion has been with humanity for hundreds of thousands of years and was historically critical in holding civilizations together. It wouldn't be an human universal if it didn't provide some sort of benefit for the believer. Even Nietzsche's vicious critique of Christianity was premised on this idea - the revenge fantasies of your enemies burning in hell, the moral self-assurance that you were the good people and you would be rewarded - these are all psychic benefits to many people.

So it doesn't actually surprise me that more secular demographics are subjectively less happy.

But we should also keep in mind, this study is from the Institute for Family Studies, which has a socially-conservative bias. There's also a Social Desirability Bias issue with self-reported happiness studies that compare secular populations to Christian populations (which is precisely whom the IFS are going to be seeking out for their religious comparison group) - Christians may be inclined to overstate their self-reported happiness in order to make Christianity seem more attractive and thus to attract more converts (therefore "saving souls" and spreading the "good news").

And we all also know that low intelligence is required in order to think with your dick or get railed by any thug that winks "come hither" to any low tier woman. The majority of single moms are not the brightest bulbs, as are the deadbeat dads that these women breed with.

I think it comes down to religiosity at the end of the day. The whole idea of tying promiscuity to immorality is that of religious dogma. The more intelligent an individual is, the less likely they are to adhere to religious dogma. Intelligence is correlated to promiscuity, but it isn’t the cause of it, the linking piece is religiosity.

Also, more intelligent people are going to be able to learn the skills needed to get their needs met in a social group. Communication skills, reading body language, spotting receptive partners, reading non verbal cues, etc.

Having said that, in my limited experience, women who are educated feminists are generally the most uninhibited in private.

Aren't intelligent people faster bored as they start to see patterns and thus there is nothing new and they then seek out something new to stimulate their intelligence? Thus, they change partners more as they get bored as their current partner doesn't give them something new (intelectual stimulation) and thus they seek another partner to get that dopamine hit from something new and unknown.

If I had to guess, there's probably an overrepresentation of voracious erotica readers among the women who scored high on the vocabulary test.

Also, the women with 150 or more partners (the top 1% of promiscuity) were less likely to report being "very happy," whereas the men who had 150 or more weren't. I guess that's kinda interesting.

A vocabulary test can definitely predict intelligence to a certain extent, but I think it's foolish to assert that a 10-question vocabulary test can tell you who's in the top 1% (or even 5%) of overall intelligence.

For example, my ex-fiance had excellent verbal reasoning (top 5% for sure), but she struggled mightily with quantitative reasoning and spatial reasoning. I have a decent English vocabulary (probably barely in the top 20%), but I scored in the top 1% for spatial reasoning and top 5% for quantitative reasoning on multiple tests that I've taken.

It might be a bit of a chicken and egg.

The more intelligent you are the more likely you are to move away from home to a larger city for school and work. This also leads to more liberal views.

Many super smart women I know try to out think their own instincts or what narrative they were told. This sometimes makes them miserable. Like the logic out why it shouldn’t matter if they are super promiscuous and then the various consequences surprise them.

Total shot in the dark the more intelligent you are the more you understand the complexities involved and history of sexual regulations meaning you can more easily navigate the issues that arise from multiple partners and the less likely you are to feel beholden to societal expectations of prudishness.

I don't think the method this survey uses will give a very strong signal for top percentile IQ - they're using a 10 word vocabulary test with a middling correlative factor to real IQ tests. You can probably tell who is in the top 20% with it but there's likely a drop off in correlation for the top 1% or 5%.

Regardless though the general idea of promiscuity correlating being a SD above in IQ is probably correct. Having higher IQ makes you more likely to get into the college system, which means you're likely moving around more (higher exposure to varied and larger dating pools), have a higher income, better health (including mental) outcomes, and marry later. All these are likely to correlate with higher counts and lower fertility.

So likely it's mostly just that higher IQ is more likely to put people on a life track which correlates with higher promiscuity rather than any particular effect of IQ itself (very high IQ, especially for men, seems to have the opposite effect in most studies despite what this survey is saying).

I may have seen a hundred of these by now, the majority of which are almost immediately contradicted by another study. It's to the point where I see studies around intelligence and don't even bother reading them anymore.

And the only thing that seems more pointless, contradictory and inaccurate than intelligence studies are happiness studies.

I think intelligence is a weird metric tbh. Intelligence is so malleable and can be focused in certain situations I fail to see how they came up with this lmao. Intelligence is pretty hard to define since it's either one-dimensional(IQ) or a container word you can associate with anything such as socialization aka EQ

There's a lot of people with doctrines/PHDs who are absolutely dull because education says nothing and it's often highly intelligent people who struggle in school but for l would say define intellect is someone interested in ideas-openness/creativity

"Women are wonderful" advocates want to attribute it to something positive but honestly it's a negative. From what I've seen, very intelligent women have more sexual partners on average but not because they're "curious" or some shit, they just are more likely to have a revolving door because they think nobody is ever good enough for them.
