Why do SOME men get offended when height matters to women?

Shorter guy here. (5'7 after a heavy squat day).

I don't look down on women for that. But its hilarious. This applies to many, not all women but women who care so much about height tend to do it in one of the following manners:

(1) Height is a must-have requirement over other things that are actually more important for a long term relationship. Literally nothing else to her is nearly as important as a mans height. He can be a deadbeat but tall. Abusive history but tall. Doesn't matter, he is tall!

(2) Women who justify it by "I like to wear heels". You wear heels maybe, once a week for an hour when you go out with your man. (I am being very generous here) so you want a taller man for that hour? lol wat. And then later in life you go out with heels less and less (maybe once a year?) and you need him to be tall for that?

(3) Upset when men have requirements that are less superficial. You can change your overweight ness, he can't change his height.

So I am not salty at all, its just a great way to filter women who are personally too dumb or naïve to actually question why that is an important quality to have in a SO.

Have media campaign about fat acceptance of females
Have a social movement fighting against female beauty standards
Constantly say men are superficial pigs while women are the fairer sex
Teach their son/men to care about women's personality and achievements more

I am a woman and the ONLY reason it doesn’t matter as much to me is because I am 5’2,

IME short girls are height picky to compensate.

And women's standards for height easily cut off 80% of men, so while "they do what they want", it's safe to say they're pretty darn stupid to think they have a chance to have all their standards met.

Probably because it is something they cannot change. Being fat, broke, bad skin, lots of stuff can be changed if you put in the effort. Being rejected for height or race isn’t fun though.

This is a black pill for many people since they can never improve their height and will never be "good enough" for a girl. Did you know being 6-feet tall in the United States is the 84th percentile? I do think disrespecting a short guy is unacceptable.

This is what most non incel types have an issue with.

I don't care about women's height requirements. I do care when they go on and on about how short men are disgusting or not real men or how they think we shouldn't be allowed to be seen in public.

Men get offended by height when they see tweets of women making fun of a man’s height. When a man’s height is made fun of it’s no big deal because we need to ‘man up’.

Yet when a guy questions a woman’s weight he’s immediately called a misogynistic pig that just wants one thing and one thing only (sex).

The frustration is also directed at the 5’2 women that want 6’0+ guys because that same 6’0 guy could’ve dated a 5’10 woman, while the 5’8 guy could’ve gotten with the 5’2 girl. A very short woman and very tall man creates an imbalance that screws the 5’10 woman and 5’8 man over in dating. It also goes against the claim women make that “we only want someone taller” (although I do believe this is the case for the majority of women. Your dating pool is very large as a guy if you’re over 5’10).

Women’s Height preference and men’s low n count preference are over exaggerated by the men on this sub. As long as you’re above 5’6 as a guy and have an n count less than 10-15 by the time you’re 30 as a woman (which most men and women meet this criteria).

The red pillers just want to take a minor slice of the female populace and extrapolate that level of shallowness on to every woman. However, while there’s nothing wrong with having a height preference it’s rude to make fun of a dude’s height. It’s no different than having a weight preference and calling people fat fucks.

Im not offended and i am 5'0. But i guess many men feel offended is because short means not attractive. Yesterday i watched a video where a girls asked guys if they prefer skinny or slim thick girls And most of them liked slim thick, also if they liked tall or short women and they all said short women, in both comment sections women were HEATED. People just get offended by everything

It’s not being offended though, they feel sad and angry there were completely counted out simply because they’re under a specific number for inches, and there isn’t much they can do. It’s not like being fat, fat you can lose, but you can’t grow taller once you’re an adult. Men don’t take offense to it, men just are sad and defeated they can’t do anything about it. The “what’s your weight” thing, which I believe you are talking about isn’t an insult or offense to them, but it’s to show the hypocrisy.

Also, I have to say that you are in the outlier. Many short women want tall men, height matters to them. Look how many women create, like, and retweet memes making fun of short men. I’m 5’6, my female friends are shorter than me, hitting at about 5’2 for the tallest. And they all require a guy is 6 feet and their dating habits all kind of reflect that. I remember one time hearing them discuss a guy one of them was dating was like 5’10 and she was like “yeah I know he’s not that tall, but he’s super cute so it makes up for that”. “Just go for shorter girls dude” doesn’t work, because with every inch you go down in height is the smaller pool of women would be interested in you. That’s just the reality of it, do you think every 5’3 dude is going for women who are 6 feet? It’s never that at all.

1-How can you not be offended about something criterion that excludes you and you don't have control about?

2- 6'2 tall men only represent a few percent of the total male population - so that means it's unrealistic as a standard

3- Women who are short have genetically more chances to make short babies who will grow into short men who therefore will be unattractive and the cycle is endless.

I’m not short. I’m 5’11. However, being 5’11 doesn’t really make me “tall” either. I’m of “average” height.
I’ll answer this question as someone that isn’t “short”.

As a man, that isn’t short, I do find it to be offensive and distasteful how women are so openly superficial and discriminatory towards short men.

I’d actually argue that men being shorter than average isn’t about them being less attractive, per se, but about women being too insecure to be with men that are short. I also feel like women are worried about how they might be negatively perceived by other women for choosing to date a short man. Yes, I understand that being tall does add to a man’s appeal and perceived attractiveness. However, there are men that, by every other metic, that can be very physically attractive despite their stature.

Secondly, why does a man have to be taller than the woman? Can you provide an actual reason for why this is necessary?

There’s also the irony of women that are 5’0-5’2 that insist that they need a man that is 5’10+. Hell, some of them even insist they need someone 6’0 plus. It’s cringeworthy.

It’s also clear to men that there is a highly hypocritical double standard with women regarding appearance. Height is 100% heritable (granted you didn’t grow up extremely malnourished in places like North Korea). Clearly, someone can’t help or control how tall they are. These men can be openly discriminated against for being short by women with impunity. Yet, if a man is to be critical of a woman’s weight, he will be condemned for it. This is despite the fact that a woman’s bodyweight/ size is something that (in most cases) she can control.

Heightism IS wrong and degrading but many men think it’s okay to shame women for having standards

First of all height preferences aren't preferences but they are requirements. I prefer brunettes but doesn't mean I won't date a blonde girl, however women just discard a guy completely if he is not tall enough. Women's obsession over height is looked down upon because of its prevalence in dating, if it was a small percentage of women that preferred tall men than it would be a completely different story. There is NOTHING like height for men that affects the attractiveness of women. There is no one single trait other than male height that you can point that has the same impact on a person's dating pool. We have studies to confirm this and your point about girls want a taller guy is just not true, we know from studies that the minimum acceptable height difference for a man increases as the height of a woman decreases. Furthermore, it really pisses me off how women justify their preference by mentioning things like heels. Like do you really think that wearing a pair of shoes is that important??? The issue of male height is far more complicated than the way you painted it. Women's universal preference for tall men is not just a preference, but it is deeply influenced by how society views short men. From the media to the job market, short men are seen as inferior and this is part of the reason why women find them unatteactive because they learn froma young age that tall=good and short=bad. Think about it, is it just a coincidence that tall men are attractive to women and tall men also happen to be the most powerful people in our society? Height requirements are just another form of evidence for female hypergamy.

I think that most of those men are pointing out the hypocrisy when women will only date tall men but when those men say that they won't date women that are overweight, the women get upset.

I wouldn't say offended is the right word, but it just seems like a random reason to like someone. For a guy to like a woman, he would probably pick 20 others things that are more important than height. But for a women, it seems like it's in the top 3 reasons to judge a guy. To a lot of guys, it seems backwards. And then when women complain about men being too judgmental or caring only about looks, it makes women look hypocritical when they care so much about height.

i don't mind at all. the more far and wide this is accepted, the more short men (or even average heighted men for that matter) will be more sexist and try to check out of society. let's be real here, you don't want a guy that is merely taller than you. for many women it's a must that he has to be at least 5'11/6'/6'1 or taller regardless of how attractive they are themselves.

Not it is like if a 5ft2 woman only want a 6ft2 dude, it is a bit unfair to the dude who are taller but not above 6ft, but hey i dont see a lot of men complaining about that IRL, because i dont see a lot of women only wanting 6ft2 even if they are 5ft5 (i think the average women height), they are happy with 5ft10 (the average men height).

I mean majority of girls are like you, if the dude is taller, 3/4 inch more thanher, it is enough.

And i have no issue with that, btw.

The height stuff is really not that big of a thing IRL, i am 6ft1, fat tho, and i dont think my height helped me that much, dude who have better game, style, physique, are more successful.

Height is often overestimate as an element of dating success, at least imo.

No shit. The issue is that it is essentially the only thing that women care about. And then they hide behind "everyone has preferences!", as if they were talking about eye color or something and that all women didn't have exactly the same "preference".

and 100% of women could get a taller guy but that's not what women want. Women don't want a taller guy, they want a tall guy. This results in women bashing short men and endlessly complaining about how men aren't tall enough. Only 50% of men are tall, that means that 100% of women are chasing 50% of the men. And that would be fine if women would just accept their status as a concubine in a tall guy's harem, but instead they bitch about how "men" (they mean tall men) won't commit and be faithful. Well why should tall guys be faithful when they have so many options?

And here is the truth, even most tall men aren't really good enough for women. Women will take a 5'10.5 guy simply because they know they can't do better, but that's not what they want. If women had their choice, they would never date below 6'5 and really short women would have a hard 7' requirement. It's pathetic.

I don't think most men would be mad if women were realistic about their expectations.
For example, in the US, a 5'4'' / 163 cm woman shouldn't be complaining that a 5'9'' / 176 cm man is too short for her. Both are average (in respect to their sex) and there's still a 5'' / 13 cm height difference between them.

A big minority of women on tinder writing "swipe left if you're below 6 feet" instead of "swipe left if you're below 5 feet 9 inches" signals to men that most women are unrealistic about their expectations.

A woman who expects a 6' / 183 cm man should be at least 5' 6.5'' / 169 cm tall, statistically speaking.

I'm a pretty tall guy so this isn't personal. But short men tend to be healthier than tall men. So women are literally making each generation less and less healthy by mating with tall men. It made sense in our evolutionary history though. Tall men were more likely to be able to defend the tribe.

Height is part of looks and we we know looks do matter when it comes to attraction

I think face matters much more, if you look at male movie stars stars women see a sex symbol you will see very few of these guys are tall but they all have good faces, symmetry, square or chiseled jawline, good hair..

Being tall without good face is not attractive to women, lot of these men are clumsy and awkward, just think of how many tall men you know who fit into this category.
