This is actually a good way to find out whether he's emotionally intelligent. If you find yourself laughing at his jokes frequently, he knows how to read a room and can make you feel good with his humor, that means he is likely to have high emotional intelligence.

They say women aren't funny, because we are not ”open minded” enough to be bigots, misogynists or rape apologists, so we ”lack a sense of humor”. Also we don't find offensive and perverted ”iT wAs jUSt a jOkE” shit they say funny, maybe because they actually mean it before you get offended. We don't laugh with them at someone else's expense and misery, because empathy exists, so that means we lack comedy. I'd rather be ”not funny”, than fake enjoying their offensive, low-value toilet humor.

It’s certainly been co-opted by the alt right now, but years ago when it was happening, it was in young, liberal spaces. It’s one of the things that really was the foundation for the current alt-right movement, and shifted many otherwise liberal young men to the right.

I watch chiropractor videos for ASMR and all the top commments are just guys making thirsty “jokes” about the woman getting adjusted. Even if she’s wearing leggings and a tshirt. Aw, that's so sad! There's a ton of helpful comments about the pros/cons of training with electric collars. (We use one on our dog, but it's at a very low setting. The idea is to remind the dog of where the yard ends so he doesn't get run over by a car. You never want to have it so high that it hurts!)

That's true - or they ask if you got the joke. I got both the joke and the second-hand embarrassment. I refuse to fake laughter; insincere laughter is worse than crickets, and I know from personal experience as not all my jokes land either - I just don't take it out on my audience.
If a woman tells a joke unsuccessfully, women aren't funny; if a man tells a joke unsuccessfully, you must have no sense of humor. At least that's how that kind of guy frames it.

Yep. All the funniest people I know have been women. I can count on one hand the men I’ve met who are genuinely funny. Most male humor is immature and vapid. I’ve noticed women tend to have humor that’s more complex than pushing down on people who are ostracized/oppressed.

Anyone that thinks girls aren't funny has never actually listened to women talk.
Back when I was "not like other girls, I only hang out with guys" girl, I had a friend who had the same interests as me- books, we played clash of clans, liked watching cricket etc. So we were bros. One day this dude goes "my gf is coming to visit me in college. I want you to meet her. But don't judge, she's kinda boring, but very pretty hahahahaha... " Even then I felt weird about why would he be in a relationship with a girl he found boring. So she comes around, we are having food in the college cafe and me and the gf get to talking, and guess what? She has the exact same interests as me too- down to being a tomboy and hating to wax hair. So this girl had so much in common with her bf but he didn't know fuckall about it because he just wouldn't listen to her. I didn't figure it out that time but it sort of clicked when they broke up.
We became friends after that. She's still my friend today and I distanced myself from the dude after they broke up.

It’s because our jokes go over their heads, they just can’t grasp it or even know they were jokes. Our humour is a lot more dry and satirical.
Remember that women are more socially complex lol. There are a lot of things we see that they don’t see or understand.
We’re “not funny” because we need to explain the joke to them, which makes all jokes unfunny.
Not helpful that feminist comedians only joke about “muh vagina” and try to be as crude as male comedians. They are just lowering themselves to speak their language.
TLDR: they are not the target audience of our humour, they are usually the target lmao! The jokes not funny if it’s about you. Women usually make jokes for other women not men lol.
Edit: Also I want to add, two women could be absolutely brutal and cutting with each other in a group setting and no one would be the wiser and think they are just having a pleasant conversation. We’re just on a different frequency honestly.

Hmm...does anyone else get the feel that it's also a situation where guys find exactly what they see and look for? There's a lot of weird men that can't at all perceive women's agency/character at all (imagine the guy that doesn't at all perceive a woman having a job and/or doing stuff at home and childcare as "work" or "effort", and he only counts it when he himself does it) in the way he feels it's a fact.
So basically you have a ton of men having no standards or looking primarily for whether or not a woman seems cute/easy, then 5 years of dating her later he's whining about her lack of humor, not at all conceiving that this was the woman he picked...and even if she had humor, it'd be likely he doesn't even see it.

My ex narc basically stole all of his misogynistic jokes from standup comedians. No jokes he ever made were original. I found it interesting that he would laugh the hardest whenever a comedian would talk about cheating and how all men do it and if they say they don't they're lying. I asked him why that was so funny to him...he of course gave me the iTs jUsT a jOkE lighten up line. So I said if a comedian was joking about being a pedophile would that be funny too? He literally just turned it around and made me feel like I was crazy because I couldn't take a joke. I told him if u think something is funny that means you agree with it to some degree.
