I don't think it's particularly controversial that companies love married men because they can't just flip the bird say FU and walk out the door.

However, key on the 'regular girlfriend' part. TRP plate-spinning can be a big detraction from your "mission", I think the happy median a lot of guys find is just having a good girlfriend.

I think, with the data that married men earn more single men and married men live longer than single men there’s definitely something to suggest having a partner is beneficial to men being able to earn more. If you think about it, you and your partner are both working, you have joint incomes coming into 1 house, you can spilt chores together whereas if you were alone you’d have to do it all yourself and wouldn’t have as much free time or emotional support.

IME when a dude finds someone he's really serious over and wants to build a life with they'll usually proactivley take extra hours. Having a girlfriend can be expensive and planning for kids many times more than that.

As a single man the income needed to get by isn't that great. But throw in a woman you want to spoil and start thinking about kids and suddenly things get costly.

No. Having constant girlfriends is a distraction and it costs money to keep them entertained. If you divert all the time and attention you give to women over to your job/interest/career then you'll end up making more money and also not spending that money on dates, gifts, and all of the other expenses involved in dating/having relationships.

A bossy girlfriend just clouds your thoughts and emotions and sends you to work in a shitty and u productive mood.

There are so many different things that could be going on that we'd really need some actual data to even start. Maybe dating a lot causes people to prioritise love over money as a way of finding happiness or discourages them from taking extra hours to spend time with their partners. Maybe they're encouraged to make more not due to being "bossed around" but to save for marriage and children in the future. Maybe making more means that you have better resources to meet people or certain demographics, such as older people, are more likely to both make more and be in a relationship. Maybe there is no strong correlation.

No. I'll elaborate. The halo-effect is quite obviously real. As is the committed men will work harder because they have responsibilities, and the committed men have more structure so they will be more on point. But this just obfuscates correlation vs causation.

What I mean by the above, is that the time expectations of relationships with Women today, do not result in a net higher income over time, all else being equal. Sure, if you have more confidence and less risk adverseness that will help you to create your own business or be more able to sell yourself. But, that does not make up for the lost time/effort versus someone who was primarily focused on making money.

Look at a last decade's billionaires list. How many of the people on that list would you consider cool? Maybe Mark Cuban and Steve Jobs? That's a pretty low percentage of people, especially when you consider that Steve Jobs very likely had ASD...

The point is that socializing and being an 'alpha' will help you on a higher income trajectory path ceteris paribus, but not at the expense of being solely focused on wealth accumulation

Source: Grew up in a top CA neighborhood, exposed to a lot of the top tier men in CA, would be considered an 'AlphaBux' based on a top tier job and dating.

Either way, it would be pointless, because that stuff would just show that men get a better income over time as they get older. I doubt there’s much difference sexless or not.

There is information that shows married men with families are more likely to get promotions and such, but that’s more due to discrimination and positive perceptions having those things are associated with in corporate culture.

Since most jobs are mundane and trash, an external motivation to work harder can often be found in family.

I dont think so. I mean having kids and getting married/divorced will definitely make you more motivated to work to provide but simply sex and gfs??? Maybe in your 20s or for men who havent dated much but I think men who make the most money are already very motivated, business savvy, intelligent, worked hard.

Also making money for most men takes time and a lot of work, med school, engineering school, law school, building a trade business over a 5 to 10 year span, business school, etc. The average guy doesnt hit his financial stride untill at least 35 years old. When men are on that grind they may have to step back from relationships and their social lives for awhile. Not all but most that I've seen had no relationships when they were building because they were studying and or working 80+ hour weeks. I got lucky with girls because I had no responsibilities in engineering school aside from internships so i had time to date in the summers and most semesters. But there were months I was in the library and had no social life.

I think when you are more successful and have your money right you tend to attract more women. When I more than doubled my salary I definitely noticed the quality and amount of women I was meeting went up. My female friends were always telling me that such and such friend of theirs was interested in me. Part of that I think is because I also have degrees and certifications in addition to being a semi attractive dude. Also women talk, about everything especially their friends. This is why I encourage guys to have genuine female friends and not try to get with everyone whose nice to them. Having girls as friends when you're successful/accomplished helps 10 fold because they will brag about you or just talk about you to their friends. "How tf is he single, hes cute and has his shit together." It cam definitely help meeting other women.

There's so many other variables this would be really hard to study. But I don't think being too easily "bossed around" by women or relying on others to dictate the direction of your life would generally be an attractive trait in a man.

I am supporting my partner to make the career change he didn't dare to do until now, he started courses to get some extra qualifications and will hopefully soon start an entry-level job. Will mean less money at the start but more money in the long run. Meanwhile, his ex wife completely stifled his motivation and ambition, telling him he wouldn't manage to do something new. So depends highly on the partner you got I guess.

But if u want kids then u will need to work more to afford a place that they can grow up in and give them inheritance.

I think a lot of men are motivated to work harder because they think doing so will be more likely to land them a good relationship but I also think that men put more pressure on themselves than women actually care about.

So there’s certainly truth to it - I would be that guy with the viral meme of the lawn chair and tv in the living room of a 1 bedroom apartment and nothing else if I was happy being single forever.

At the same time, most women have their own jobs and are probably fine if you’re in an okay spot in life and can cover your own bills/have even a lower middle class job, but men often run with that to assume women want you to have a private jet.

Tl;dr - I think women typically do have higher standards, financially, than men do. But men also assume those standards are far higher than they actually are.

I'd argue it's just much more likely that any man who's motivated and driven has better odds to succeed professionally and romantically than those who aren't. Some will still succeed in one, or both, if they're not that motivated but they usually start off in a wealthy family, or have some sort of natural ability with a given field or career path.

I also only specify 'man' because it's well known that lots of men are unfairly turned off or flatly intimidated by successful and driven women, and also that women have a harder time coasting through the ranks in many professions.

A stable relationship is usually a better place to build a successful career than on your own.

If you can rely on someone to help back you up, and to share the load of just existing, it’s a hell of a lot easier to have the drive to push ahead with a career.

Also - people in successful long term relationships that last tend to be good at negotiating compromises and working with other people. Pretty important skills in the workplace.

Honestly having a. Woman in your life or the potential of a woman in your life is an extreme motivator. Like nothing else. Hell it's better than Adderall. The other side of this are the people who don't believe they could ever get a woman . These people will be less motivated to work harder than just to pay their bills. There's a reason why married man earn more it isn't just because woman are picking the winners. It's also because as many you know you have to provide, so you will do extra shifts at your job, and upskill during your of work hours.

This is true To an extent.

But in my experience, for example, the best performing med students I have ever come acrosss have just one single SO they’ve been engaged to for several years now. Sometimes kids also motivate you as much as having multiple GFs but they still are a huge distraction. The single most powerful motivator imho is just having one SO who you love and no kids (yet)…

The man with multiple GFs on the other hand are easily distracted and don’t really have much internal motivation so as soon as the attention fades for a while their grades slip, while single sexless men like me have decent enough internal dialogue/autism to get by with zero female interaction, there’s not much internal motivation besides “I gotta do this for a comfy future or I will die in debt and become a failure to my family…”

If you don't have a girlfriend and aren't lonely - that might be good though. No distraction. But most people get lonely without intimacy/companionship.

Correlation, not causation. I suspect the two are interrelated, but I doubt that one causes the other. In other words, an attractive guy with good interpersonal skills is more likely to have regular girlfriends and more likely to be successful at work. One doesn't cause the other. Being attractive with good interpersonal skills causes both.
