It has been like this for years. Rewind to 1998......

I was working as a departmental manager for a section of a large Top 20 Australian company. New GM gets formally appointed so the first job is a business planning week away in the Yarra Valley. About a dozen of us. Good week and we got to know each other a little better socially. Enter the Dragon. "Karen" the Admin manager was your typical mid 30's mother, couple of kids at school, married to her high school sweetheart and a good 20 kg overweight, which for a woman 5'4" made her look like a berry.

So.... to put some context to it, with a project if we went over budget by 5% we needed a supplementary expenditure application. Our section wasn't the glamour section of the business so for the same project scope our budgets were all less by about 25%, but we had to deliver the same. I would run my projects at about 103% of budget to comply with expenditure rules, but to get the job done.

The final dinner and Karen is off her face on the free drinks. At this stage no issues and her and I got along professionally and having kids about the same age and being about the same age kept it nice and social. Night ends and we all head back to our rooms. A little while after, knock on the door and she forces herself into the room and makes advances upon me. "we're both married, Karen" I respond before she starts getting all touchy touchy.

Net morning I try to avoid her and then head home. Monday morning comes and she has complained to the GM that I am spending company money recklessly etc and not ethically all that sort of stuff. GM laughs and says I'm OK, but to be seen as being neutral and fair calls for a HQ toecutter to come down and investigate me.

The toe cutter goes through all my past projects looking for things to trip me up on, the only thing he can get me on is the "overspend" which I tell him complies with the rules and to see how my projects compare against the other section. Suddenly one of the toe cutter's minions claims to have found "a major discrepancy". Turns out some capital expenditure which should have gone to cost code A, went to cost code B (safety). Toecutter berates me in front of the GM and Karen, tells me that this is a sackable offence etc etc. I calmly ask to see the "major discrepancy". Sure enough it happened, but it was approved by someone else and Karen was the one who raised the purchase order and signed it off to go to that cost code.

Bottom line. Walked away unscathed after being prodded and poked. Karen got off scot free and the whole thing was a false claim that started when I rejected her advances.

Moral of the story. If you are a male who works for a large company, do good work, don't joke with the females at work, don't offer to help them with their work, limit interactions with them at the workplace and outside of the workplace. Remember they will not react the same way as a man does to a bad situation. It is never their fault and they are always right. Victimhood mentality rages. Do not expect any help from HR, expect HR to be on the side of the female.

Lucky to work in transportation. No women anywhere on docks or warehouses. Physically too demanding and not..."prestigious" enough. Thrice a week, a quick trip to the administration (99% women) to pick up or drop my binder. Hello-how are you-here it is-thank you-bye, 4/5 minutes top, less if I can. I don't even look at younger employees. Guess what? Somedy went to HR and complained because I was considered "not warm and friendly enough"...Go figure. And we're not in the US.

Not so much uncomfortable but i keep my guard up. "Luckily" for me I'm short so just kind of get ignored by them most of the time. When I do interact with them I have to make an effort to stay out of the constant psychological games they play on each other and everyone else.

I work in IT which also helps as the only women in the company are in other departments.

It doesn't even have to be accusations of a sexual nature. Over the course of five years, I saw two guys get fired, courtesy of an ambitious Karen (whose name was actually Karen). She removed the man at her own pay grade by constantly reporting him (for laziness) to an infatuated middle manager who was stage-managing her STEM career in molecular modelling. By that stage, she'd already targeted the next obstacle in her path, the lab manager. She wanted that job. So, any criticism of her work by the lab manager, young Karen was round at the office of the middle manager, in tears. Soon, the lab manager was on a 'remedial' course on people skills..... where another young woman (#2) chose to pick a spat with him.... and was left in tears (of a crocodile nature). His card was marked, as soon as he got back to the lab.

At least there was some eventual karma. Karen got her promotion, left her husband and two kids for a Company man, stayed a klutz, and had an eventual nervous breakdown. Woman (#2) got caught with her knickers round her ankles with a different manager, was transferred abroad, and her husband divorced her.

Jeez.... I remember that lab before women were 'encouraged' into STEM. Peace, quiet, no drama, and high work output.

I'm honestly terrified of it. I was falsely accused at work, lost my job and couldn't find one that paid a similar wage, so I got evicted and was homeless for about 6 months, on top of having the love of my life leave me for it. Now any time I have to work in close proximity to a woman alone I get real bad anxiety.

You can do absolutely nothing wrong and still have your entire life ruined.

Try to put yourself in situations where there are witnesses. Keep a recording device, and if there's something that makes you uncomfortable, make a point of mentioning it so that it gets recorded. Stay as professional as you can. Don't make jokes, don't talk about gender issues or politics.

Somewhat uncomfortable. I'm middle-aged and strange-looking, and I've no illusions that I'm going to be made the subject of an unexpected advance by anyone. I've also been in a very committed long-term relationship for more than a decade, so I'm not interested. My concern is that I occasionally find myself in approximately a boss role. If anyone gets annoyed with me, which obviously one tries to avoid but which is more or less inevitable at some point, then there's a risk of being accused of something.

I don't know how that would end and honestly I don't want to find out. I recently made the decision not to hire anyone for a position that I would normally have filled because it would have required spending two or three weeks working together in a small, dark room. By far the best candidate was a woman, and it wasn't until that became clear that I realised how bad an idea it would have been to do that. I wasn't going to take someone less good on the grounds of gender so I simply didn't hire anyone. Now it'll take longer and a youngster won't get what I hope would have been valuable experience and well-paid work, but I avoid the risk. Obviously, a woman could have hired anyone she wanted, so I guess the forces of feminism will celebrate this as a victory somehow.

I hate the fact that the world is this way, but it is this way, and I didn't make it this way.

Fortunately not in the situation. I was 45 working retail. About 1/2 the staff were high school girls. Even being cautious, I was told I made an associate uncomfortable. Fortunately for me, the girl told the HR manager, who knew me & worked with me for ~15 years. She brought me in, because she needed my help at the store. She (manager) asked me what happened, I told her (what I said), she told me to get back to work & she'd take care of it. About 6 weeks later, this girl that said I made her uncomfortable was acting friendly to me. My manager then told me, this girl seems to like the attention/stir up shit. Worked out ok for me. That time.

long story short got fired for a 3 year list of “comments” i allegedly made over my time at the retail store. waited all that that time to bring up everything. i was talking to an older coworker going thru a divorce and said something along the lines of “it’s so hard to raise a daughter or any kids now, i can’t imagine what the internet does to people”…. and end up getting called into the HR office a day later. “so….. modern_ketchup, did you ever say soemthing like “i could never see a woman having a baby because i can’t imagine a woman coming out of another woman’s vagina?””

…. still trying to figure out what exactly that one means. worked with mostly 20s girls being the 2nd most senior person there and 1 of 2 men on the whole team of 25 people. trained and knew almost everyone.

edit: new store i started at. 3rd day HR lady tells me to “go rip that hat off her head then. she shouldn’t have it”, referring to a black girl i worked with who got the hat i was assigned. I did not ‘rip the hat’ and ended up having a ‘he said she said’ situation with the SD. quit after being threatened in bathroom

It feels like if you have a disagreement with someone as happens at work if they are female and mean which a surprisingly large number are then they can use the present bias in HR and company politics to get you fired through false accusations. Too much power given to women now and they know it and will use it. Best to keep everything 100% work related. No friendships or jokes or chats about the world.

I'm a physician and do my best not to socialize with the nurses or female physician. I talk to them about work and that's it. No jokes or chit chat. They even invite me out with them sometimes. Of course the answer is always no.

I'm not getting falsely accused of SA. I'm not trying to be introduced to one of their fat friends. I'm not even trying to date any of them. Just want to do my work and be involved with them as little as possible. And even that small bit of rejection irritates them and has them nagging and talking to me even more. I just continue to be avoidant toward them. Mike pence has it right.

I’m 40, and happily married. I don’t mind working with women, but I don’t have direct contact, and certainly do not want to be their supervisor, mentor, etc.

In my experience, it doesn’t turn out well. I work in a high pressure industry ( transportation sales) and it’s a hard learning curve for both young men and women

Young men either figure it out, move on, or you put them in performance plans to expedite their future. Women will fight you, make excuses, and try to fight you while not making the effort to either figure it out, or move on

It’s never their fault it doesn’t work out… I don’t have time for that headache

A friend was the "head" of his department in a small company of 60. His department was him and two others. One of the two put in notice and he had to hire a replacement.

Near the end of the hiring process he came to me and asked my advice on which of the final two prospects he should pick. I asked what sex are then and he said one male and one female, I said hire the dude, less problems.

He didn't listen, he found a good reason to favor the woman (as he often has done in his life). He mentored her in the career for two years and then she reported him for improper behavior and he was fired.

The improper behavior was not defined.

After two years looking for another job he ended up in the hospital with a heart attack from the stress.

Sadly I am not sure he learned his lesson. He still talks like a feminist.

Actually any woman in general -- young or old. I get those looks from woman all the time for no reason at all like I am some sort of predator. Since following this reddit, I've been actually noticing this a lot more throughout my daily life.

Went grocery shopping the other day and kept crossing paths with the same woman and her daughter while going up and down the different aisles as is a very common thing to have happen. Came time to check out, I happen to be in the same same lane as her and she kept giving me these stranger danger look like I was about to assault her or something while I was trying just unload my cart on to the belt? Give me a fucking break people. How do any of these woman think a man would ever want to be with them like that?

We've been told for our own protection to never be alone in a room with a female at work. There was a particular contractor who was suing over some sort of transgression. She was still working for us but had multiple accusations out at the time. She seemed very nice to me but I was cautioned specifically to be careful as she seemed to be seeking lawsuits. So now everyone has to make sure no man is ever alone in a room with any female because it's too much risk.

That was before COVID got us all working from home, which is a policy that's been ongoing for years now. Really beneficial to quality of life on top of not having the rish of sexual accusations for now. Over time accusations will begin even for people in remote locations talking to monitors. But at least for now things are good.

Almost impossible to fire them regardless of how incompetent they are, scheming and always looking for a pretext to play the victim card. Never have 1x1 meetings, not even informal. No. There are some horror stories out there about guys getting railroaded, but I haven't really experienced anything personally.

Unless you figured out a way to work in an all-male company, I don't see how you could avoid working with women.

Be nice, be polite, don't make any sexual jokes and don't comment about their bodies or hair or probably any physical features. And that should cover it.

The vast majority of people, men and women, just want to do their jobs in peace. If you are a chill person, then you shouldn't have any issues.

If you get the sense a woman doesn't like you, then avoid her. The less interactions you have, the easier it is to piss them off.

Or, if you are worried, don't be alone in the same room with them.

I make sure I’m never alone with a woman in a workspace and if I am I stand in the doorframe whenever possible. Never compliment or talk about their looks as well as actively avoid staring in their direction if not having a conversation with them. And as everyone should in general I keep my hands to myself. No friendly pats or anything.

Regardless of gender of my coworkers, I treat everybody at my job as a potential person who would report me if I got too comfortable around them and said something that could open me up to a potential HR situation. Why both genders? Because I learned that lesson when I got chummy enough with a male coworker, and he reported me to HR for some mutual locker room talk that he was also partaking in.

Anybody can be a snake. Best be a consummate professional within your profession. These days I don't even accept friend requests on Facebook from coworkers until either they no longer work with me or we know each other in a capacity outside being coworkers.

It isn't young or old specific. I don't like working around women in general. Many of my best supervisors, coworkers, and employers have been women for whom I would go to the ends of the earth, but I've never had to worry about dodging HR because of a man.

Any woman who vocalizes any amount of liberal/democrat belief without being prompted is a complete red flag and I will not talk to them about anything except work, for as brief as possible that I can keep the conversation. I don't care if people have social or political views that I don't, but if it is something that they feel the need to talk about at work, then I can guarantee they are ready to fuck up work for anyone who disagrees with them.

To answer your question, yes, I'm uncomfortable working and being around both girls and women because you never know what your answer or action will irritate them. They'll make false allegations on news/social media and false police reports against you, take you to court, and lock you up, and you'll end up on the streets with no place to live, no money to eat, and your life and career destroyed right in front of your eyes.

I stopped going to places where there were a lot of women present, and if I had to go, example like hospitals, I would take extra precautions. Where I work, there are a lot of women present as well, and they are my coworkers, so I only talk about work-related matters. Men should avoid talking interacting socializing with women, and saying unnecessary and Unimportant things to women no matter where they are, whether at home, at work, or in public places. Men should always stay alert, be extremely vigilant and cautious with women,(Specially with younger women) both known and unknown women female-coworkers, women in family members, and stranger women.

Another thing to remember is to avoid talking to teen girls.

I never even talked to her and still got hit !I run my small IT business in my home basement. I noticed two neighbouring women had some kind of light crush on me. I have heard them laugh while they were gossiping standing on the balcony while I pass below to my basement office for work. Each tried to communicate with me but I kept my distance because that is where I live for the rest of my life (home office) and I dont want to sully my reputation in my home place because of silly games. I even avoided eye contact with them. On top of all this they both were married with a kid each and decent husbands.One shifted to a different locality because her hubby changed jobs. The other then started trying harder. In one instance It became obvious to her I was avoiding her like hell and took it as an insult. After that she went on spreading gossip and rumour about me that I am a recluse mad man. After that everybody in that building started talking to me in a different sympathetic tone as if I was really a mental patient. Thankfully even she vacated her place and went away. A similar case happened with another woman down the road who had caught me in a paint shop even though I clearly was not interested in her married with a kid ass. Women are dangerous indeed.

I was put into such a situation against my will, and chose to take the risk of allegations because I also knew that the circumstances meant I could be very good for the little girl in question. She's had a blast (as I expected) but I need to wait 20 years to know that the risk of any misunderstanding, mis-remembering or indeed plain malicious allegation is over. It sucks.

false allegations come from sh*t people and/or people that are seriously not right in 'da head. Generally avoid working with such people, and false allegations from workplace should be vanishingly rare - and will likewise solve a lot of other workplace issues/risks at the same time.

40+ years of work history, I don't think I've ever come anywhere close to seeing a false allegation at work - at least that was of any woman directed at any man ... though I have seen lots of other sh*t over the years ... from both men, and women - and yeah, they generally come from sh*t people and/or sometime bit more generally from highly sh*t employers and their employees thereof. So, stay away from sh*t people and sh*t employers, and should generally not be an issue. Ah, if only "real life" outside of work were that simple - have certainly seen and been aware of fair number of false allegations (and threats thereof) outside of work environments. Alas, sometimes harder to avoid sh*t people outside of work.

Most of you aren't that high class that someone will try to blackmail you for money and the vast majority of women aren't maniacs.

I am fairly regular guy. You know what works? DON'T FUCKING BE A CREEP. It's that easy.

Treat women with respect to boundaries, be a decent human, treat them as whole humans and no accusations will come your way. In fact, if you see somebody actually harassing another person, regardless of gender, just be there for the other person harassed.

Don't believe me? Statistics show that the above 90% of women's reporting harassment is deemed very true and a lot of harassment goes unreported still. Do you think women really are out to fucking get you? Most of the time, they are trying to avoid harassment and endangerment by the creeps.

Ask any woman in your life what they have done to be safe and you'll see.

Personally; I am sooo damn tired to change the path even literal street - way I was walking in; because I have come into close proximity with a young woman. Literally increasing what is supposed to be a short stroll; or walk in this boiling heat is a literal torture.

I worked at McDonalds as my first job. I made a dumb joke once. My male manager wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulled me against him, bit my neck like a dog in heat, and whispered "you are so bad" before releasing me. I stood there, shocked, waiting for someone else to react. Nobody did. He was the adult manager. We were all teenagers. We sort of expected him to set the tone for normal behavior, I guess. I was 15.

Just saying, it's not so great being the girl working with all the older men playing out their fantasies at work, either. You guys seem particularly appalled by the concept of false allegations, not nearly as devastated by the very real me-too stuff happening until it's your daughters.
