How would you want your son to be raised?

I’d want him to socialize and be successful with women. I’m probably not the person for that. That’s what fathers and other men are for.

I’ll give my own POV if requested, but I doubt it would have any value. I don’t know the first thing about being a teenage boy or a man in general. I can recognize my own limitations.

I would not allow Tate or RP in my home though. I don’t like them.

Involve him in sports and other activities young and ensure he’s socialised as much as possible. Being sociable from a young age is really important for development, confidence and interpersonal skills. My fiancé and I are both pretty outgoing so I hope this would be passed down.

I would leave most of the rearing to him and be very happy if he inherited the same morals/values and approach to dating and socialising

I have a 9 year old son. My husband and I encourage socializing as much as possible. He’s in little league and MMA. We limit screen time and use a merit based system of “earning” more time through chores or school achievements. He can also lose time when he’s messed up. We also make sure he’s capable in traditionally “womanly” things liking cooking and cleaning. I’m latina and the amount of times I’ve seen boys allowed to do nothing while the girls had to cook and clean was ridiculous. Luckily my husband and I did not grow up in such households and have instilled in both our son and daughter to be capable little humans.

I don’t expect anything other than letting him cultivate outside friendships in things he likes to do. I do believe outside extracurriculars are the key to being socially competent and having a good male role models in his father and my father. I think by pushing him to things outside of the home with his peers he will naturally progress to have a dating life but at this age I’m not really thinking about that. Just having a good foundation will lead him to where he needs to be.

My biggest responsibility as a woman is picking a good man who will be a role model for my future son. You get to pick your husband, your kids don't get to pick their father. I would want him to be traditional, respectful to women and to treat them well.

Well I have an 8yo boy, and so far he's a happy little weirdo with a mixed gender group of weirdo friends, and he's really into gymnastics, roblox, coding, and soccer.

I think some of the most important traits kids should be raised with are emotional aptitude, self esteem, and resiliency, so my husband and I are trying to impart them in our kid. I think once he understands those virtues he'll be able to navigate his dating and social life with relative ease.

It also doesn't hurt that he's a good looking kid, so hopefully puberty doesn't fuck that up for him.

I let my husband take the reigns on most of that. We’re on the same page that traditional masculinity is a positive.

It’s my duty to show him what a nurturing mother looks like and not to act like he can never love anyone but me. My mother in law already does that with my husband and it makes me nauseous. I also have a responsibility NOT to display any erratic emotional behaviors in his presence so he doesn’t find “crazy girls” to be comfortable or normal

He can approach it whatever way he likes so long as he's not hurting others and he is happy. He might be more introverted or more extroverted, he might want to date women or men or both or none, and I'm fine with whatever. I wouldn't try to control it.

I’ll facilitate his social life, I’ll meet parents and invite kids to parties and events and drive him to same. I’ll encourage him heavily to try a few sports and join as many clubs and group activities he shows interest in. His friends, both male and female will be welcome at all times. I’ll also facilitate community service opportunities so that he is comfortable speaking and working with people of all ages and develops a sense of charity and pride in his accomplishments.

He will be proficient with tools and basic household care and repairs, so will his sister. Both will be encouraged to pursue tasks which require dexterity and skill so each understands the importance of competence.

Critical thinking will be taught from the earliest possible age, as well as confidence in his own ability to determine fact from fiction.

Same way I was raised. Parents wore themselves out ensuring that we all had friends and activities and skills.

I want him to be socialized by the father I picked out for him and value female non-sexual friendships. I’d want him to be moderately but not overly successful in dating, I don’t think being a player is ethical. I’d want him to be assertive in his values but humble in his approach. I would also want him to walk away from women who are users and value personality first then sexual attraction.

I have a 7 month old son. This is my plan to ensure he is well-adjusted, resilient and successful in life:

encourage him and support him in making friends, set the expectation that we want him to succeed academically, and pursue some activities (eg sports, music). Sports especially I think will be good for a young man’s self esteem, provided he is at least somewhat athletically minded. This will help ensure he is physically fit and interesting to prospective partners.
encourage him to take age-appropriate risks and have as much independence as possible so he can build a sense of self reliance (eg climbing on play structures, walking to school with other children and no adults). Competence is important in attracting women.
spend time together as a family - family meals, hiking and camping, board games, what have you. This will ensure he has a strong attachment, which will help him to be confident (and will thus help him in relationships.)

My husband is also a great role model, and good looking to boot. So genetically hopefully he is set, and he has a great example to follow.
