If you were my client, and you felt the way you do, I'd immediately tell you to sign up for some charity like working at a soup kitchen or something for a month.

I'd also tell you to tell me about a time in your life that you legitimately felt happiness, joy, peace and oneness with the people in the world around you. Maybe even if it was just for a short time.

Then while you were working at the soup kitchen for a month, we would explore your motivations. What causes you peace, love and happiness? Then I'd amp on that stuff and help you navigate how to get from where you are, envious, scared, angry, sad, frustrated - and take you away from all that and actually help you discover that inside there's probably a pretty cool guy buried behind a mountain of shit that life threw your way, perhaps, or that you brought upon yourself.

But if you can think back to a time in your life when you were a little kid, innocent, free, happy, you felt safe.. . If that feeling was ever there, that's the feeling we can get back. We just need to let that part of you feel like it's ok to come back out and stop hiding.

I believe the trick is not to explicitly change your personality, but play on the strengths you do have. Yes being social and funny are all traits that will get you very far, but if you are shy for example, portray yourself as the strong silent type

A trick is that "personality" isn't really a thing. IMO it's split into two main parts.

> Social dominance

>Adherence to social norms.

If you're socially dominant, people will consider you "confident", "funny", etc etc. If people don't you generally offer little value. Value is like money, status, social connections,humor, leadership, etc. You want to be as socially dominant as possible.

You can also violate more social norms with more social dominance. Even if you're a complete bully, if you're socially dominant people will let you get away with it. If you violate a social norm but you don't have enough dominance, you'll be labelled as having a bad personality.

First of all, stop viewing yourself that way, it only makes things worse. Prob the best way to work on your personality is to expand your interests and activities and travel. The more stuff you do, the more you learn and the better perspective you have on yourself and the world. Just be kind to other, be kind to yourself, and try new things all the time and people will find you more interesting and you'll have more to share with others.

Pick up on their manerisms and the way that they talk and use them in your own interactions. Before you talk to her think about being the leading man in youre movie and it will come across that way. Confidence is key. Think smooth to be smooth.

We all are interesting . We just don't know how to show it. You have some passions. It may be playing guitar, be the dancer at a party , reading a lot , playing sports. When you have a passion about something and you talk about it you portray good energy which is addictive to normal people. We need to have good energy around us. In order to be interesting in social situations you must be comfortable talking to new people. Talk with anyone. Girls and boys . Get good at flirting. Get good at getting new friends. Travel. If you don't have the money or time, go out with your friends to bars and have a conversation with the barman. Why not ? People with high social intelligence built it up somehow when they were young. You must meet new people and all the types of them. Get into adventures. You may find yourself in situations when it's risky to enter them. Do it. And regret it or not later. If you have lived interesting things good or bad you are interesting. Listen to good music. Get into the lyrics and try to explore new horizons. Get into the mind of the people who wrote them. Don't stay in your comfort zone. Risk it. Do some crazy shit. And you will become interesting. It takes ball to be interesting. Good luck, believe in yourself and most importantly explore yourself.

I use to have the same issue, I could attract girls but they’d be turned off once they hung out with me.

Work on being more outspoken, often times you don’t realize but your holding back because your afraid of offending people. Take more chances, you’ll go through some embarrassment but you’ll improve. Also always work on speaking clearly and with cadence. Like others have suggested watching good comedians can be helpful. List to the podcast king and the sting, the way they play off each other is brilliant.

It might not be your personality that's the problem. Maybe it's just some bad habits that can be fixed?

So first id say you need to figure out what the problem is in order to fix it. What is it that you're doing that you think is garbage? Do you talk poorly about lot of people? Do you tend to have a tendency to show up 20 minutes late? Sit down and write down some habits that might be turning people off and pick one to improve and then after that one gets better pick another one that you'd like to improve

If you think you're not funny enough on dates maybe dont put all the blame on yourself. Maybe your date doesnt have your humor ad you can find someone who does have your humor.

Honestly it’s a matter of practice.being self aware of what issues you have going. If you can’t accurately diagnose yourself turn on the tape recorder on your phone and talk to some people working in retail. They have kinda have to talk to you. From that point you can identify what you did right or wrong.

I use to think I was a terrible conversationalist . Then couple years later when I got the hang of it somebody pointed out that I I’m really easy to talk to. I was actually blown away when they said that.

Read more novels or watch tv shows or comedies of people or characters who appeal to you.

This entire sub is dedicated to helping people become seductive. Keep reading and keep learning. If you think you have a garbage personality, then you can probably recognize parts of yourself that aren't seductive. You can change things about you that you notice turn people off.

Personalities themselves are a difficult thing to define. It's not something that can be boiled down to a short message. It's not that simple. You should search out things that relate to you, and focus on the desire you have to better yourself. I wish I could help you and every other dude here to "just get it", but all I can really do is invite you to join us all in self improvement. We're all here to be better than we were yesterday. Different goals and intentions provoked us, but we've all ended up here together.

I know that you can be better. I have absolute faith in you, but you need to have faith, too. You have to try better today than yesterday.

So which message is attractive and which message isn't? I thought up both ways to say something, but with two different messages. One of them I know is more attractive than the other. One makes me feel like I come across as a dick head. One of them makes me feel like a good big brother.

I don't enjoy being a dick head, but I do enjoy having brothers and sisters in a common cause. It makes others feel like they're part of my community, my society. The other thing makes me feel like I want to piss someone off and reject them. If I'm a social creature, wanting to be social and be enjoyed, then I cannot act like a dick head, because I want that community feel. Inside a community is where you'll find others that enjoy you. Outside a community is where you find loneliness.

I heard that charisma is how you make people feel around you. Eg, making people think they're funny by laughing whenever they make a joke; smiling a lot at them.

Check out the book The Charisma Myth. It has some amazing information. Part of it will tell you to stop thinking negatively of yourself as you did in this post.

Another great book is How to Win Friends & Influence People. The latter is a must in my opinion.

Both these recommendations focus on being a people magnetic and is not isolated to woman. You will find that attraction applies to both genders.

Love and understand yourself

When you have patience, tolerance and love for yourself is when you start externally giving those great emotions.

I recommend the book no more mr nice guy to see how to love yourself. Very awesome book

Be grateful for what you have, it improves your mentality a lot.

Stop judging others. Understand them, but first, stop judging yourself, know that you're perfectly imperfect

Understand that you're enough as you are, you deserve to be loved, be heard and be seen, but first you have to do it from the inside to understand your worth. Because you can always grow.

And that's it, just... Let go. You don't need to be more, you need to be less. Like when you meditate and you are present, that's the way to go, just shed off the stuff that is holding you back, be it internally or externally.

Be emotionally open with yourself. Learn to see things from other people’s perspectives. I would highly recommend reading books about emotional awareness in your self and understanding the emotions of others.

The least likable people I know have traits that are the product of being inconsiderate/unaware of how others feel. They talk over you, only want to talk about their own things, say things that reflect their insecurities but out you down, they make outright comparisons with you. Etc.

Some of the most likeable people I know are considerate of others but also respect themselves enough to not compromise and give endlessly.

So I'd say the first step is finding what qualities make you different from everybody else.

Life leaves little clues everywhere as to what these qualities are so just look back to your childhood till now

Once you know what they are start "feeding" them, let's say you're really open to new experiences, start putting yourself in more new situations.

The simple two word answer so you don't have to keep a lot of info in your head is "Have fun"

I'm learning different accents, more idioms cause I like incorporating them in my talking, learning a few dance moves, literally just 5, that I practise thoroughly. Bruce Lee once said something like " I'm not scared of the man who knows a 1000 kicks, I'm scared of the man who has practised 1 kick a 1000 times". How to sing, but I already sound decent, just to be better for myself. Cocky humour and following my gut more.

First, identify what it is about your personality that's an issue. I'll go out on a limb and say you complain or whine about things or always bring up the negative. Stop doing that. For instance I know we are in a bubble and it's going to crash at some point and wreak havoc, I predicted the last 2, warned people, they didn't listen, just viewed me as negative. I don't talk about negative things now. Trust you will survive, don't bring up negative conversations unless its imminent, like a bus is heading right at you and people need to get out of the way like now. 2. Focus on other people and don't argue with their opinion, it's a battle you won't win. Instead focus on commonality. In general, don't debate or argue with people, especially women, she isn't going to open her legs if you win an argument. That doesn't mean, don't disagree, just don't need to be right. Let things go.

Seems like you're worried too much about how you come off which is hurting your social performance. I could give you a whole list of things to practice and incorporate to your daily routine, most notably meditation and exercise.

But I think you'll find success trying 2 things; 1. Loose your inhibitions and act. 2. Interact with 10x more people than you do regularly.

The first one will lose you up and bring you into the present, naturally increasing charisma. But of course acting without second thought might lead to mixed results. That's why when you mix with more people it allows you to try out different things and socially push the envelope without "ruining " relationships. You need to run a social self learning algorithm. Maximizing what charms others and minimizing what makes them annoyed. Don't wait long enough to consider potential social consequences, just act.

Lastly you need to reprogram your thoughts. Stop saying shit like, "I'm not funny" "I can't flirt" etc. Telling yourself that over and over again programs you're subconscious to act in that manner. Rn you have to consciously think only positive thoughts about yourself, and believe it. After a while you'll find you're acting that way

I will give you the classic community advice and tell you about "value".

Many people have a lot of theories and ideas about "confidence" but from my studies and the products that I bought, one of the things that women (all people really) find appealing and attractive, is your "ability to give off value". What that means is your ability to make people feel valuable when it comes to interacting with them. This is what people call "confidence".

So when it comes to your personality you have to learn the habit of adding "value" to someone's life (with a compliment) rather then making someone feel worse after being around you with an insult.

I am still working on this, one way you can do this is with just picking one trait that someone has and accepting them for it.

e.g. Someone that is loud and obnoxious and kinda rude, what you can say is:

"You know John I really like how open and honest you are it's really cool"

and you will notice that this person becomes better and nicer when they are aound you.

This also works with women when approaching.

e.g. A HB8 with glasses you are talking to.

"I like your glasses it shows how intelligent you really are. :)"

and you will notice many of those girls with want to spend more time with you since you are making them feel really good.

In conclusion: Your goal when it comes to meeting people should be about adding "value" to other people's lives and not making them feel worse after spending time with you.

Step 1: actually listen. Shut up and listen. Stop talking, and listen. A lot of people in conversation are just waiting for their turn to speak instead of listening to the conversation. Hell, I take care to NOT do this and it’s still something I find myself doing. If you have a point you want to make, don’t disregard what the other person is saying. Think about what you want to say and how bad you want to say it. Now realize this feeling you currently have may also be felt by the person you are talking to about what they are currently saying. How would you feel if this thing you are dying to say is completely ignored or disregarded after you say it.

Step 2: not everything needs to be turned into a joke. Humor is good. Too much humor is bad. Comedians have a saying which I guarantee you’ve heard: “know your audience”. As you are getting to know someone, your rapport developing, you will learn what subjects they have a personal connection to. As a general rule of thumb, when I first meet a person, I only make fun of myself.

Step 3: have empathy. I already alluded to this in step 1, but it’s important enough to mention again. This will help you build a genuine connection.

I'm somewhat a people person, but I found that when I would get too deep in playing some video games, I would lean towards being a recluse. All I would do is work, sleep, and play video games in my free time.

When I would meet people or get in social situations - I would notice myself being a lot more quiet and awkward than normal, cause I was so used to being in my own world on counter-strike. going out for groceries, or even meeting people, would seem like more and more of a daunting task.

I would say I am overall happier and a little more outgoing / social now that I've given them up. It frees up my free time. Now when I have a day off, I try to get out of town, into nature or such. Thinking about picking up a new hobby, mountain biking.

I strongly think that when you stay in and just play vidya, not only are you not developing as a person, but it might even take you a couple steps back, depending on your personality.

You don't have to be the "funny guy" to improve your personality. I'm the "funny guy" and I'm awkward as hell sometimes - i hate that. but no one's gonna be perfect.

You should focus on expanding your view/hobbies. When you find something you really enjoy doing, and make a hobby out of it, I think the good parts of you will come through.

Look at your flaws, fix them one at a time, with daily practice.

You will feel like wasting your time some days, but once you look back a few months in the past, you'll definitely see change.

Focus on one thing at a time that you would like to change, and set up a daily practice.

Keep things simple and easy, but be persistent. Imagine you're doing pushups or something, you don't expect to double your strength in one day, but over the months you'll see progress. You only need to practice daily.

Also, be patient. You'll improve, but change will be slow.

I think you can't completely change your personality, but just being aware of your own flaws and controlling them, having practiced other ways of being, and knowing what response you can give, will help you a lot.

Do not give up. You willing to change and improve yourself is the first step that you seem to be willing to do.

If you feel like sometimes you suck and life sucks in general, keep on telling yourself that you're working toward something better. If sometimes you're sloppy and fail and are lazy, tell yourself that you accept that you messed up this time, but you'll stand up and continue walking forward like a fucking hero.

No valuable change is easy or happens over night.

Also try to be open to new experiences. Many of our personality flaws are there just because we keep on doing the same activities every day without changing anything, and these may be harming us. For example, playing videogames, eating badly, sleeping too little... Keep a healthy lifestyle. And given the choice, try new experiences and different things. You never know what you are missing in life, if you turn your back to new experiences.

My take on self improvement is introspection. You gotta figure out yourself. What drives you. What makes you happy, what makes you sad, what hurts you. What do you do when you're scared, when you're excited. You need to figure yourself out, and then do things. Do things that scare you, do things that you enjoy, do things that you've always wanted to, do things that you're unsure about. Experience a myriad of things, and reflect on them. Experience is how you mature and change as a person. But you have to decide how you want to change. It's a very personal thing, and the journey is more important than the outcome. You have to surrender yourself to the process.

I don't think any personality is considered "wrong" or "garbage." I think it comes down to how well you know yourself and the qualities that you like most about yourself, that you decide to share with other people with a similar appreciation of that trait. I think if you "fake it until you make it" so to speak, people will tell that that's not you and be put off by you, because you aren't in touch with yourself. Which then makes you think of the problem internally which develops the insecurity that your personality is garbage, which isn't the case at all. I would just try to develop things that you like about yourself and can be confident in, and with due time you'll realize that your "garbage" personality is just a bunch of traits about yourself that you haven't explored fully and don't know if it's actually you or not. Find you, find friends, find love. It's simply complicatedly difficult, welcome to life!

You're in luck though. Seduction doesn't rest on being "funny." It relies on connecting, not comedy.

How to connect? Let's rewind to what "seduction" is, just another form of social interaction, which uses the same core skills you use to talk to ANYONE.

Step 1.) You broadcast some sort of message:
- Verbally, by saying something, tone of voice, word choice, etc.
- Non-verbally, through body language, eye contact, gestures, facial expressions, etc.

Step 2.) The other person, if they're paying attention and listening well enough, will receive.
- This step is fucking crucial because if you're not listening and paying attention well enough, you're missing the information you need to continue well in the interaction.
- Think about it like a tennis match: if you're not hitting the ball back, the match isn't going to last long and it won't be fun.
Step 3.) After the other person receives, they process what messages they've gotten, and then broadcast something back out.

Step 4.) You receive what they broadcast, process it, and then you're back to Part 1. Rinse and repeat.

In this case, you're concerned that the problem is that you're not saying (broadcasting) the right things, basically. You're not funny enough, etc.

But here's the thing, if you focus on what THEY are saying and following up on what they've said when you respond, then you're dealing with material that's most likely to matter to them.

So bad that i turn off people that are into me. How can i prevent this and actually be a decent human being?

Focus on Step #4! Connecting with people requires active listening, not better jokes.

Trying for laughs is not important, and trying could very easily become trying "too hard," which is unattractive.
