There's a degree of annoying arguing about the nature of "AWALT" (All Women Are Like That), so I'm going to clarify what it means and why it's used:

First disclaimer, there is NO situation where all ANYTHING is like anything.

There will always, always be exceptions when it comes to people. For fucks sake, you can't even say "all humans dislike eating shit". So no, no one believes ALL women are like that.

When someone says "all women are like that", it means "the overwhelming majority of women are like that, and if you're told or you think the one you are chasing isn't, the extremely more likely to be deceit or self deceit."

And more importantly: it's useful. Very fucking useful. It is potentially slightly misleading and might offend a few people, but it prevents so much more harm.

To make it easy to understand with an example:

We tell young women (12-17) that EVERY man that says "you're mature for your age" is a groomer -or we should, if we don't- Yes, every, no exceptions.

I'm sure it's not true. I'm sure there's some pure soul somewhere that has uttered those words without being a groomer. At least one.

But every fucking groomer will claim to be the exception. So that "ALL ARE LIKE THAT" isn't as much an observation of reality as it is a warning. "You will be told he's different. You will believe he's the exception. He isn't"

Which will be true 99% of the times it's needed. And it will suck a lot for that one guy that isn't a groomer.

AWALT isn't an observation of reality. It's a warning to all those guys that are yet to open their eyes and believe that their one crush isn't like that. Odds are, she is.
