I've been separated 3 years, officially divorced for 1. I reconnected with a woman I met 20 years ago and we hit it off as if no time passed. She was all in, helping with my 2 kids, being extremely thoughtful in decorating their rooms, taking care of us etc. She's literally my best friend. We moved into a house she bought last summer and things have been going well. She's never been married or had kids, but she's really close with her nieces and nephews who walk on water for her. Anyway, yesterday started off fine. We had sex before the kids were up, breakfast together, and then getting stuff done. After a minor disagreement about how to discipline or parent my son, she suddenly wants to break up. She doesn't want to be a step-Mom. I figured it was menstrual emotions because that's at play. She's also in menopause. But I've spent the last 24 hours completely shell-shocked. I can't believe she says she wants to walk away from all of this. I wasn't even sure what to say. She doesn't want to be tied to this region, all because of my Ex and kids being here. She doesn't like the house we live in, the job she has etc. I point out that she took this job specifically so she could get this house, that a better job will come with time. My daughter loves here and has a Mom nickname for her, and my Son likes her too. I'm not sure what to do. I've told her not to make any quick decisions.
