Men are overwhelmingly in favor of abortion. Holy fuck, it's our only way to make up for bad horny decisions and accidents. In fact, the line between being for or gainst legal abortion in all/most cases isn't drawn along gender.

Also, please, this is an international sub. The US is basically the only country in the world which goes into a backwards direction regarding legality of abortion. This is not about men. This is not even about US men. It's about ass backwards religious conservatives. Mainly white evangelical protestants.

I wouldn’t say this is exclusive to men, but Republicans in general. If they truly believed abortion was baby murder and truly cared about babies/children after they were born too, they’d be approaching the whole issue differently. This would include a national ban on abortion AND funding toward helping families raise those children. This where I have some respect for Catholic Democrats, they tend to be pro-life but at least have some follow-through on the “what do we do with the kids people can’t afford to raise?” part. Meanwhile, pro-life Republicans have no answer for that because they’re against funding for social safety nets.

But that’s not really what it’s about, they just want to punish women and increase the birth rate without having to actually pay for those children. And if they or their mistress or their daughter get knocked up, they want to be able to access abortion, because that’s always different. These people simply lack the empathy it takes to be either pro-choice or (actually) pro-life.

The political right is currently pandering to the religious right in a lot of ways while clearly not actually sharing their values. It’s always been so, but is more obvious now. I’m sure Trump gives zero fucks about abortion and has probably paid for a few of them, but he knows a large portion of his fan base cares, and that’s what matters.

Second, this shows smart Republican policy to make it a states' issue because the Federal government has become too powerful. That's the way it was supposed to be.

You have social issues tied into a power problem and you can't distinguish the difference. God bless Trump for overturning Roe v Wade and keeping it a state's issue. One of the best social issues he's ever handled.

The republican party is the party of the 99% right now, everyone is backing them thanks to the bad blood against the democrat becoming the 1%-and-their-slaves party.

So banning abortion would go against a good chuck of their voter base, So they elected to just leave it to the states. I think it is a good compromise.

They are doing the job of a party, that is, to balance out the policies pushed by all their constituents instead of enforcing their policies from the top down like the democrat party.

I hope that it is as some commentator said once "In 20 years the democrat will become a minor party, and there will be only 2 possible futures, either the republican party will divide into 2 or the libertarians will take the role democrats have now"

The truth is that it isn’t a winning issue. Pushing it nationally would end up with it being allowed nationwide at any time in the pregnancy. To someone who is anti-elective abortion, that’s a worse outcome.

Abortion is not murder, and there are strong reasons it should be legal.

First, history. At the nation's start, English common law allowed abortion until "quickening"—when the mother first feels the fetus move, usually around 20 weeks. This was not a crime. The so-called originalists overlook this.

Second, our laws shield a personal space free from state meddling. The First Amendment guards your thoughts. The Third and Fourth Amendments protect your home and body from unwanted intrusion. This creates a right to privacy and freedom from state intrusion for all people for all people. The state does not have the power to force a woman to stay pregnant against her will.

Finally, the law never forces a person to use their body to keep someone else alive. For example, you cannot be forced to give blood or an organ, even if it is the only way to save another person's life. A dying person has no right to another's body. Why should a fetus have more rights than a born person?

Let's leave the tough medical questions to doctors like we do in every other case, like is the case in separating conjoined twins. The state has no right to interfere here.

I am a Christian, so I believe that abortion is murder (from a moral standpoint at the very least). If a woman decides to get an abortion, God will deal with her accordingly on that.

Now, as to whether abortion should be PROSECUTED as a form of murder, I don't know. Even if that were the case, I think that the doctor who performed the procedure should be prosecuted, not the woman who sought it out. A woman should face the moral consequences of her actions, not necessarily legal ones.

I think that's where some of the disconnect is (morality vs legality) and why it seems to be a case of hypocrisy and cowardice on the part of some men.

I’m very much against abortion in all cases except where the mother may die. I’m also practical. There would be no way in hell we ever get a chance to ban it nationwide, and pushing it would more than likely have the opposite effect. It at least gives us a fighting chance to have it statewide for the moment.

The actual change will come when the culture changes to start valuing human life and purpose, responsibility, and duty instead of blind hedonism. That will take a long while, so we do what we can for now.

Men are brave on abortion. We know what happens when women have all of the rights to make the decisions while the fathers have absolutely no say. We also know what happens when women talk about equal rights, yet men are still working dangerous jobs like construction.

We also know what happens when women talk about equal rights yet can not physically or mentally compete with men and easily lose their nerve in situations that men have been trained to handle. I don't think that most women have the mental fortitude to handle tough blue-collar and first responder jobs like men do.

Show me any lib who is willing to have women match the physical and mental requirements for military and police work. Show me any lib who is willing to have women take up the same draft as men did during the Vietnam War.

I think abortion should be legal. Potential babies who are unwanted would be better off if not born. Potential babies who would be born in bad situations, such as a broken home, drugs, domestic violence, abuse, parents unable to afford to take care of their child properly, etc., shouldn't have to go through those things.

Any birth defects, mental deficiencies such as severe autism, downs syndrome, I believe those can be avoided with abortion, if detected early enough.

I don't exactly take the stance of my body my choice. I care more of what's best for the potential child, who could end up having a hard life. Besides, it's not the human race is underpopulated.

I dont think most men are cowards when it comes to it i think in many cases most are more realistic then most women.

And see abortion as way to small a thing.

With 27 different contraception Forms.

I think its not bad to say that when a abortion is needed you already fucked up on a big level when there is first contraception and plan b.

And I think most men have the opinion of sure your body you're choice. But why we gonna dance around the fact your killing a baby.

But also the fact women have all the choice but men have no choice at all if they a father or not.

Women can kill a child but men can't abandon it. While women can kill it and abandon it. But men have no choice there always gonna be financial responsibility if the women choice is to keep it even if he says it does not want it.

I dont see that cowards. When there 27 contraception but literally only 1 men have control over condom. But even after sperms leaves or body. Men have no control.

In many ways the lack of control on one side makes it that more people vote in away that makes the lack of control more equal. Cause equality is what many women keep screaming for. But when that means that you get the lack of control men also have. And can only lean on all the anti contraception.

But honestly I rather have that women AND men don't get forced to be a parent if they don't want to. Being forced to be a parent when you don't want to for obvious reasons don't make for good parents at all.

But even do im all for havwing the choice let's not all be hypocritical and just agree your killing a baby cause you fkd up. Why dance about its a clump of cells. While how early on it already has its own heartbeat. People should just be honest about the fact they are killing something. I always was disgusted about changing the words and what your doing like your doing something morally good.
