Why are you trying to justify cheating? How ever bad things & their options might be, men are entitled to not be cheated on if they themselves aren’t cheating bastards as well.

I don't think anyone should relent to a cheater. They did it once, they will do it again. The lifetime of disrespect and a lack of self esteem isn't worth one pretty lady. It may take time to find another, but that's better than being trapped in misery knowing there was a chance at something better.

By "cheating" I presume we're talking about a situation where both parties agreed to a monogamous committed relationship, and she cheated on him.

In that situation, the relationship must be dissolved and there must be absolutely zero forgiveness.

This standard is applied bilaterally. If you cheat on someone you agreed to monogamy with, the relationship must end, and the transgression is frankly unforgivable.

If you cannot practice monogamy, be a fucking adult and don't offer it in the first place, or renegotiate the terms of the relationship (or dissolve the relationship). Ethical non-monogamy exists and there are communities which support it. Cheaters have no excuse.

I would be willing to be more lenient in a world of culturally-mandatory monogamy or widespread oppression on the basis of sexual orientation, but here in the West those pressures are rapidly eroding across almost all of society (thankfully). People can be fully open about their relationship preferences and desires and can pursue those, and in such a world where they can do this, they should do it.

Generally, I would say NO. Unless this person is very well off financially. Then consider it.

I know it sounds harsh. But if you're dating a millionaire who gives you a very comfortable lifestyle, it might be worth letting them have a side piece. I say this to both men and women.

But that's the only situation in which you should even consider it. If they aren't really rich, then you're better off single than with someone who cheats.

i don't think it's impossible for a cheating gf to eventually become a good trustworthy partner after a lot of regret over one's actions, self reflection, and working on oneself. but i'll never put it to the test myself. she can go be someone else's problem if she's already cheated once. though tbh, i would be hesitant to even date someone who cheated a very long time ago but has worked on themself since. maybe others won't have the same preference, which is fine tbh. but it would definitely irk me.

Considering how much time and effort I had to spend to become attractive enough to be in a relationship and how much time and effort I have to spend and will forever have to spend to remain attractive enough I am not willing to accept cheating/non monogamy.

Considering what would it take for me to accept/forgive that is an interesting thought experiment.

If no longer have to spend time and effort to remain attractive enough to keep the relationship and it's benefits I could consider it. After all we would be talking about having enough time and freedom to live a lifestyle I can enjoy for myself instead of spending all the time and effort into having a lifestyle that I hate but it makes me attractive.

I appreciate your candor here. You got a lotta balls. And you make a good point about the "take it or leave it" nature of dating for many average men.

A clue for men: take women off the pedestal for once and realize they cheat just as much as men do, possibly more these days since they have greater opportunity than ever before and are encouraged to chase happiness and not say "no" to virtually anything they want.

This is one of those "treat women like human beings" moments that most will recoil from.

You've got a lot of good points.

I've heard a lot of men say they'll do anything for sex and love, even die for it.

So I think forgiving cheating is less than risking their life.

But on the other hand will forgiving a cheating hurt them more than being alone for the rest of their life? Especially if they like their life.

It's not really logical to leave a cheater instead of forgiving to them and especially risky move for men to make considering relationship/sexual scarcity.

They could just forgive the cheater or be willing to never love/be loved/or have sex again
