It’s not that money doesn’t matter, it’s that money isn’t my primary concern in dating.

I think financial stability and responsibility is attractive. Financially stable meaning, can afford their own lifestyle, housing, bills, etc. Which means that varies with location. But you can be financially stable and responsible and not be making six figures. I think it’s important that me and my partner are aligned on long term goals of owning a house and being able to travel more and having a family. But you don’t have to be fabulously wealthy to fit that criteria. I’m already on track for all of those independently, and I’d rather be with someone that is as well as opposed to someone who would need financial supporting. Does that make me someone who is obsessed with money? I don’t think so. I think being responsible about money is mature and I try to embody that myself.

Every woman is different, and sugar babies and gold diggers do exist. Some women prioritize money over looks, some women will date broke leeches and work three jobs so their man can sit around playing video games all day. So you’re gonna get different answers.

It's not that money doesn't matter, everyone wants a financially stable partner. However, having a home gym isn't going to make up for some kind of more serious dealbreaker for a lot of people. Some people would gladly date a rich person, regardless if they're compatible or not, those people are just looking for someone to provide a stable and/or luxurious existence for them. Other people wouldn't want to be with someone they find unpleasant just because they can fly them to the Bahamas.

I mean.. I don't really care if the person I'm dating buys their clothes from a thrift store or from a Nordstrom or some way high end boutique brand. That does not matter to me. You don't need to be rich to be worthwhile and interesting. You do need to have some real employment, show some sense of economic stability and financial responsibility though. Those are important traits in life and the long-term.

I don't care if you're making 1.5k a month or 5k a month. Whatever. But showing you actually put in work and are consistent in keeping up your financial obligations is important to me. And also having some literacy in knowing how to save, how to not spend over your means often, how to treat yourself within a budget.

Money matters in life. I’m not sure where you got the idea that money doesn’t matter (up to a certain point).

The amount it matters depends on what type of lifestyle you want to live. I like being able to stay home with my babies so it’s important to me that my husband makes enough to provide for us financially. This is what we both want for our family. The key is to be in alignment with your partner about what you want your relationship and lives to be like.

Money does matter in the sense that I want a partner who is financially stable enough to support themselves and treat me sometimes (just as I would treat them). But it doesn't replace true attraction or love.

People (regardless of gender) tend to date (and especially marry) inside their socioeconomic bracket. I don’t think anyone thinks money doesn’t matter.

Also people in higher socioeconomic brackets tend to get married and STAY married (long source for that - https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8179854/ if you feel like reading) compared to people in lower ones.

I can't speak for other women, but I would say money does matter, but not necessarily in the way men think? I've turned down guys with lots of money because it meant our lifestyles wouldn't match or our values weren't aligned.

Would it be nice if a man just had a money tree in the backyard that really only meant a bit of gardening here and there, sure. But that's not how having a lot of money usually works. It usually comes with baggage attached, some women won't mind that baggage, some will.

Personally, the worst guys I ever dated or who chased me were rich kids with daddy's money. Fucking nightmares.

I guess it depends on what you want? For myself, I’m going to date with the intent of searching for my future husband (hopefully). I don’t want to spend time on or get attached to someone who wouldn’t work long term. I’ll be honest: From a financial aspect, I want a man who makes at least what I make ($46,000 CAD / year), so that amount will matter.

In terms of money being spent on dates or all the aesthetic, etc. stuff you mentioned in your post, not important to me. My date showing up in a Walmart hoodie is fine by me as long as he’s clean. I’ll even foot the bill for the first date if it requires spending money. Limited funds for gym, travel, etc? Don’t care. You can save up for stuff you want and get to it when you have the money.

Money mattering or not will be dependent on what someone wants out of dating or a relationship.

I think money doesn't matter in dating the same way money doesn't buy happiness. If you have enough money to cover your everyday expenses and a little extra for savings and the occasional splurge, additional money doesn't make that much of a difference. If you are struggling to make ends meet, money makes you happier by removing financial problems and worries.

Some men seem to think that dating is inherently expensive and requires taking a woman out to dinner and/or a movie, buying flowers or other overpriced gifts, and impressing her with a fancy car and nice clothes. None of these things matter to me personally, and neither do most of the things you listed. If the guy is financially stable (i.e. own expenses covered, no big financial problems), then it doesn't matter if he can afford a nice car, a home gym, or expensive vacations on other continents.

Money matter as in it matter in life. But aside from having a financial stability i don’t choose people based on money, simply because i’ve learned that it’s not the good criteria. If he is greedy then what’s the point, he can have all money in this world, why should i be swayed if i won’t ever see them. If he is generous it’s always with strings attached and usually covertly and he will suck my soul out for every penny he spent on me. If a guy is chill about it it’s great, but how many of those are out there? All in all that’s just not the way. The only thing i’ve learned it’s that poor people spread their misery, so i avoid them.

My husband has a good position, I’m doing well also, by my job and family. You need around 4/5k a month to cover the basics here in the heart of the city, just to exist but nothing fancy.

Of course money matters. I was not raised by my father to let myself be entertained by broke men. Being financially stable was something my parents taught me to look for in a partner, my brother was encouraged much more to be a provider. They taught us both to make financially wise decisions.

Go to your local council estate or equivalent and most people you meet will have relationships and children. In fact, poorer people are usually a bit more likely to have children (unsure if anyone has actually investigated their likelihood for relationships in general). People generally find partners with similar income, so while money does matter in who you end up with, it doesn't actually impact your chances of finding a date at all that much - so unless you want a richer partner there's nothing to worry about there.

I think money is one of the most important things about life. It absolutely matters in all parts of life.

It is one of the best things you can get and have it makes everything easier. It gives you safety security opportunity takes care of needs and wants.It makes nearly every part of your life better.

If you want money get a job .

A job is more stable and better source of income than dating a man.

Though yes you can use men for money but dating them really is not a good source of money cut out the middle man and get a job.

However you can't buy love so in that sense it doesn't matter.

Edit : I already have a job and money give me something money can't buy.

However there are lots of women with the opposite pov.
