Blue Pillers: After being on here for a while, does TRP seem less extreme than what your first impression of it was or Reddit's general impression of it is?

The red pillers on here, with an exception of a few, are less extreme than the ones I see on TRP- they're able to have civil debates with people who disagree with them without spouting gendered slurs, so obviously they're fairly reasonable, normal dudes. I even enjoy chatting with some of them. TRP is still just as hateful as I always knew it was, but I don't think that every single guy who reads there is going to be that hateful, especially not the ones who come here.

The actual sub is pretty much as misogynistic as I thought it was, and I still disagree with many of the generalizations and the explanations for them (the age-old EvoPsych vs. Social Learning Theory debate that's likely raged since the dawn of the sub,) but some people who describe themselves as RP have more reasonable interpretations of it, or simply don't subscribe to the things that I have issue with, so I don't have much trouble finding common ground with them.

It's hard to say what I'd change; I don't buy into the core principles, and if you changed them, it wouldn't the TRP anymore. I suppose making the fact that it's basically a ranting ground for a lot of the subscribers more explicit would make it more palatable for a lot of people, but if I don't buy what you're selling dressing it up all pretty isn't going to make it any more appealing to me.

It seems way worse.

At first it seemed like people taking a kind of first step away from thinking love was something they were entitled to, or that they were owed by society. I've had to do that myself, and I was bitter the whole time. However, I sought out help from older men and women who looked like they had it right. I also had the advantage of growing up with close friends who were like sisters to me, so I knew that men and women were pretty much the same, and it was the illusion of how love and sex are supposed to work that made people unhappy and think we weren't all making it up together as we go.

However, The Red Pill funnels in disillusioned people, hurt men, and offers a confirmation - biased new illusion. The Red Pill is for people who want out of the Matrix, but to still play around in it like Neo. They unplug from something like the Matrix from the movie, but plug right into the idea of themselves as the hero of the movie The Matrix. Still going around the same places and trying it on with the same people, but thinking they have some fast-tracked erotic jujitsu implanted from the field reports, people who know how it REALLY works.

One of the things my dad taught me about how to build a strong character was to tell the Microscopic Truth. Not just being honest, but pushing yourself to say what's uncomfortable to say, to learn to search your mind to its limits so you don't hang on to any bullshit. Red Pillers love to talk about their "truths", but only to each other or people they argue with on the internet. There's even a lot of posts about not speaking to anyone about being "Red Pill"!

I don't care about the misogyny, I don't care about the political correctness, I never had a problem with Red Pillers until I saw how they operated as a community. It seems like people who got really into The Secret.

Here's how to be Alpha, but don't outshine the master. Women want men who are comfortable with themselves, but create a username just for this sub so no one knows what you're posting. Do all this for yourself, women aren't the goal, this is what they want, but hide it like you're hiding porn from your mom.

Every time the community starts waking up to whatever contradiction or logical absurdity is inherent in the groupthink, some Flair-bearing username comes and tells them it's because they had it all wrong, and here's the new date the spaceship will come to take them all away from Western Women to everlasting prurience. One even recently compared himself to Moses.

So, in summation:

First Impression: Women and men who thought they could manipulate their way into what they wanted by being nice and kind and playing by the rules who are now bitter and looking to manipulate their way into what they wanted by being callous psuedo-pragmatists, all on the journey to eventually realizing that life is way more complicated than they can plan for, and your heart only gets broken in with time. Harmless, like people who got into The Secret and accidently made their lives better by getting their usual bullshit replaced by bullshit that made them act in a way that would work for them without bogging them down in the details of what's going on. Whatever, I'm glad I worked on building great relationships with people further on the path than me, I can skip this.

Impression after a while: A psychological pyramid scheme, pragmatic but reactionary, an open-source cult where the leaders are whoever has come up with the latest patch to fix the bugs that pop up whenever you try to run any other application. The emperor's new gains. Latter Day Kings. World Of War craft for your genitals. A hole young men fall into, and scramble all over each other trying to get out of, pulling each other down the whole time. It may not even be a problem with the philosophy (however that's supposed to be interpreted this week), but just the general problem we all having with searching for answers in the little computers we keep in our pockets, in the self-published, self-help section of Amazon Books.

Go get your heart broken til it's fun, til it's useful for anything but getting you in trouble. That should be all that's returned when people Google The Red Pill.

If anything, I've realized that most of TRP is comprised of common sense advice with a shit ton of bigotry and conspiracy theories piled on top. There have been a few moderate RP folk on here who are pleasant to read such as /u/BakerofPie (I hope i spelled that correctly) but all in all I've found that most RP members are just outraged carbon copies of one another. I think it's still pretty extreme, since most of its users spout the same shit and blindly buy into its dogma.

Pretty much filled with "macho guys" fawning their "fuck bitches, go lift" mentality when really they are all washed up Nice Guys who want to imitate the "assholes" that they so vehemently disagreed with in their "BP phase". They are just looking for a "magic pill" to cure all their ills while becoming a parody of themselves.

It seems scarier, especially after my talk with the RPW mods. I knew TRP was bad, but when I found out that there were women who ardently believed in it I cried. I just wish they can see that there is so much good in feminism but they loathe it.

TRP is scary because it teaches men how to abuse women. It's a support group for rapists and abusers, and it has convinced some women (rpw) that what those men do are okay and that those women should be accepting of it.

I really don't know why a woman would believe in TRP. It's so misogynistic and hurtful.

I think at first I thought all terpers must be 14 year old bitter outcasts. The way it has got worse over time is posts have come up over reddit about actual lives ruined by it, either wives and girlfriends whose partners 'swallowed the pill' and became abusive assholes, or guys coming out of the pill who realised it had given them a toxic attitude towards women and relationships.

Purple pill has helped me to understand the mindset and reasoning, it seems to me that RPers have a fundamental lack of logic and empathy. I find that reassuring. I don't think misogyny is on the rise in society, its just that the internet makes it more visible. Ive never known a terper in real life.

If I could change anything about the RP it would be to change the language from 'women' to 'some people.' Some people act like children, some people are shallow, needy, unreliable etc. Self improvement is fine, demonising women is stupid and unhelpful. Oh and I would also emblazon the textbook definition of feminism on the front page, its so tiresome having every discussion derailed by crazy misconceptions about an equality movement.

I disagree. The times when rape is encouraged are pretty awful. For example, there was a topic only a few days ago in which the OP expressed his only reason for not raping a girl was the accusation. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised to see the top comment was actually calling him out for wanting to rape.

I think it's a function of who chooses to post here from TRP.

TRP is loaded with over-the-top language intended to be as harsh & grating as possible.

There's also some really ugly political & social philosophies simmering just under the surface (Reactionaries, neo-nazis, racists, etc.)

Those types are going to have no interest in engaging in a sub like this so we tend to see the "well-dressed representatives".

It did clarify why "feminine" and "masculine" are inherently damaging notions.

But pretty much TRP are brobots. Kind of the same guy over and over again, with the same half baked ideas. Some are more 1) offensive, some are 2) kids, some are 3) sulky and hurt, some 4) want to come across like they are college professors, some 5) are a bit dumb.

Beyond that it's like a Borg army. You're all kind of the same with minor details that are different.

It is as bad as I thought it was, but also more constricting than I thought. It seems to make people boring replicates of one another.

It may be bad but it is incredibly repetitive and the TRP members all look the same after a few months, with the five variations above.

For me TRP has come to mean those 5 personalities. That's what I see there, and a repitive rhetoric (I think of it like zombies yelling "braaaaiiiiiiins") that is TRP philosophy or arguments.

I don't know if I'd say I found it to be 'less extreme' as I was subbed to TRP unironically for quite a while. But this sub has definitely helped me gain further insight and have more of a look inside the minds of RPers.

By actually being able to have certain things explained to me from their POV - which of course tends to be more...shall we say, tempered due to the nature of this sub - I'm definitely able to view much more of TRP through a far less hostile lens. Or rather, my reactions to the "extremes" are less hostile.

Plus I certainly don't feel outraged at the thought of RPers employing the worst of its doctrines/tactics/strategies on women anymore. I mean hey, if even the worst of the worst works that's not the fault of TRP but her own.

yeah its got a lot of men with misogynistic ideas. but is it as horrible as some claim it is, no. they have a good side for self improvement and sheer confidence building. plus some of the things they say about women are true.

but let's set red aside for a bit. what of the blue? from what I see its mostly women angered by the existence of red and boy bitches who hate on em for fucking their women. I wont say red is full of assholes so I wont call blue as full of losers.

if I have to weigh both, and apply both sets of ideas out there in the real world. in the open world, not in limited spaces confined to nerds , meat markets and dating scenes - but business, life in general and decision making. I wont be surprised if the reds can find more general use of their ideas that lead to better outcomes.

Some legitimately offensive and misogynistic stuff does get posted and upvoted on TRP. I don't see any other way to spin a post which is all about how women are the mental equivalents of children.

However I agree that it is not extreme as I was led to believe. I actually saw TBP before the actual sub that it was making fun of, where the most absurd quotes are cherrypicked for ridicule. I was like, how is this TRP sub seriously a thing? So I went there and actually read, surprise surprise, a lot of it turned out to be reasonable--not politically correct--but reasonable. And a lot of claims, such as active support for physical abuse or being rape-apologists, are just completely false.

I came across the RP just occasionally while searching some info about gamergate just out of curiosity. I have already heard before that Reddit is such a "scary evil sexist site" (which is not true actually), but when I was reading local redpillers in my first visit of Reddit, all these stories seemed to be true. I'm Russian and there is a belief in RuNet that western AngloNet is considerably friendlier with less amount of aggressive conservatives and traditionalists. We also have some MRAs, but for the majority of people they are no more than trollish nuts. It was a bit upsetting to discover a big population of such kind of folks here and on the other related sites. TRP, MRAs, neoreactionaries and all other patriarchy worshipers, who regret that women gained the right to vote, work and study at uni. I even started collecting their quotes and maybe soon make a special blog for it. Concerning the RP on Reddit I can say that from my point of view it's a kind of a sect. 1)They promise some wonderful Truth to men who suffer from bad relationships or are unable to find any, such men who are often insecure, damaged, resentful, self-hating etc. 2) Their "Truth" consists of women-bashing and praising the nature of "alpha male". Newcomers learn that they can quit being "omegas" and "betas" and become "real alphas", and as a result they'll never have problems in relationships any more. 3)Their ideology is very indulging for the participants of the sect - women are to blame almost for everything, women are inferior by nature, men are leaders by nature, men can divide women into 2 types: "plates" and "wives", it's ok for men to have many partners but bad for women, also double standards are in many other aspects of life. 4)"The Truth" is based on pseudo-scientific animalistic explanation reducing humans to mere apes, which is easy to understand and believe, giving the green light for justification of things from the point.3. "It's nature" - dogmatic answer to all questions. 5)Special sectarian notions and terminology. 6)Dividing the world in two parts - blue and red pill. 7)Belief in the inevitable collapse of modern westernized society due to feminism and other "deadly sins". 8)Messianizm - a man who "swallowed the red pill" is encouraged to introduce pill to his friends.

I take stuff from the Red Pill stuff I can use, like I would a salad bar, or a Subway sandwich: Stuff I like (the tough love aspect, the self improvement, how to deal with shit tests, etc) but I leave the stuff I don't like (AWALT, women cannot love, men can never be vulnerable, etc). But yes, I think there are a LOT worse things on the internet than the Red Pill. Trust me, even on Reddit, there are far worse things that are hurtful to a lot more people.

My first impression was it was a bunch of sexists, misogynists, bigots, etc that need a scapegoat for their problems - it's not just generalizations about women - it's hateful generalizations about women. KKK style.

But the more I came to talk with RPs here, the more I realized that it's much worse than the misogyny.

No, the worst that TRP does is make its adherents stupider, and incapable of relating to women or having intimacy. Ironically - inability to relate to women is one of the reasons they turn to TRP in the first place.

The women they have superficial contact with move on. Their lives are not going to be greatly altered by bumping into an RP in the wild. The RP men though? They've damaged themselves. Seems like it would be very difficult to come back from that. Especially since it would require a great deal of introspection and accountability for their problems - their self esteem is entirely dependent on blaming women. They need to bring others down in order to feel better about themselves. It's not a healthy mindset at all. I do feel bad for the men of RP at times. My time spent on PPD has made me pity them more.

And it just boggles the mind the stuff that RPs believe. Like, scientology stupid. Tin foil hat stupid. Like, I read some comments and I cannot believe that thinking human beings in 2015 really buy it.

Such is life. There's all sorts of types. The internet lets you peep in on what's going through their heads.

Hm. My view changed in this that I don't really believe trp men are bad and vile, I actually see them as victims of those puas or whatever that make money out of selling their books. I also think trp is dangerous for them because it follows a very strong perfectionism path that can hardly be fulfilled by the average bloke.

What I'd like to change is their pessimistic view on the world and their lives.
