I think OLD has really upset the narrative that men age well. We are used to seeing male celebrities that can pull off aging. Most men on social media and old have grey skin from not moisturizing, out of date facial hair and clothing so they look like dorky dads, blurry photos, aggressive/unpleasant/unattractive bios, and no friends/hobbies/anything good or interesting going on in their lives.

There’s no social pressure, training and the marketplace doesn’t sell appearance products or values to men.

It’s video games, porn, expensive shoes and watches. It’s unflattering clothes, it’s passive screen based activity. It’s junk food, bacon and booze. It’s hangovers and energy drinks and fast food. It’s high blood pressure before 40. It’s beer belly and dad bods. It’s blackheads, bad hygiene and preventable decay.

It’s gay to wash, eat healthy, get medical care or care about grooming or what you wear. Having more than one towel, sheets or a toothbrush that’s isn’t a decade old is also homosexual. It’s manly to be ugly, fat, unhappy and unhealthy.

True story men are sold the exact opposite of what women are pressured to buy. Men don’t value their appearance and generally don’t get proactive about their health. All that stuff is emasculating.

Women’s whole job is based on appearance so every aspect of life that affects that outcome is how we live our lives. The older we get the more we see how diet, health care and exercise along with wardrobe and beauty hacks really improve all lives in an overall way. Average looks attractively maintained is the majority of women across all demographics.

OLD men’s pictures demonstrate the vast demographic of men online seeking women do not consider their appearance a factor.

And ironically, incels and other manosphere types blame women for being shallow instead of doing literally anything to improve their image. They revel in their ugly and use it to become even more ugly like it’s a contest.

You're not wrong at all, it's bizarre how aged younger guys look these days. Almost every time I see a healthy or well-put together man out and about these days, I see a ring or a partner/family with them. It's s not an even a lament like oh, all the good men are taken. Good for them and good for their families, really. They clearly put in the work. But it really makes you wonder what went wrong with all the rest of them.

Lmao. So I’ve been saying this for some time and I’m in my 40s. Women keep up with themselves - hair, nails, apparel, not to mention pleasant personality.

I meet a lot of people in the high school/college age range as they're the primary demo for my business.

I can tell easily if a girl is in that age group. Most of the boys could pass for late-20's already. Not in a "polished and put together" sort of way, but in a "I binge drink every weeknight, Juul more than I breathe air, and haven't eaten a vegetable since 2006" sort of way. It's really scary.

Nah, it’s not you. I think that men tend to look down on taking care of their appearance as girly and end up taking this “manliness” to the extreme. Although I imagine some are just lazy and since they’re not bombarded with the YOULL BE ALONE FOREVER IF YOURE NOT A MODEL messaging women get, they have no motivation to even try. I wish they knew how UNATTRACTIVE it actually is. I know multiple guys in their mid 20s with crazy wrinkles just because they REFUSE to put on sunscreen. Friggin sunscreen. Apparently even that’s too much 🙄

Honestly just since I joined FDS - I've noticed and become more critical of guys.

We're taught at a young age (and continually through societal expectations) to take care of ourselves. Sunscreen, moisturizers, exercise, eating healthy, etc. And now we take pride in self-care and preventing aging, and will continue to look great well into our 40's, 50's, and beyond.

Men don't get this same external pressure. More smoking/drinking, shittier diets, less exercise, no skincare, etc. They age so quickly and it's definitely off-putting.

You are not going crazy. Me and my husband talk about this from time to time. He’s often presumed younger because he’s one of the seemingly few men in his 30’s who knows how to have abs and can dress on trend/fashionably. Balding is uncontrollable, and it helps hubs look younger that he’s not, but all the other stuff men can control and just DON’T. Diet, exercise, fashion, haircuts, skincare—men can and should pay attention to all these things just like women do, but they just WON’T 🤷🏻‍♀️. What’s worse is when you find a guy who does, and does it WELL, and then everyone wants to say he must be gay. That not only deters other men who want to from trying, but it also makes women feel that such men are only reserved for other men, and it tells those fit trendy guys that their efforts will only get them male attention. Men need to start digesting the messages that: a) women experience visual sexual attraction too, and no, personality alone isn’t enough, and b) a man can care about his diet, having abs, dressing nicely and taking care of his hair and skin while still being heterosexual.

They are worse in every way. Not just looks and health but also intelligence and success in life, work, relationships.

Because of entitlement and patriarchy that allows that entitlement men are getting more mental illnesses, paraphilia, and compulsive issues that affect the prefrontal cortex. Their actions are correlated with reduced gray matter in the prefrontal cortex.

Of course it reflects on how they look and every other criteria they come short in, including the widespread erectile dysfunction.

Men regularly accuse me of lying about my age (it starts with a 4, they don't believe me). Nah son, you just don't understand the wonders of skincare, good hydration, and being an unproblematic human.

I'm part of a subculture with a fairly specific style for both men and women, so the men tend to look a little bit more polished. But your average man on OLD puts zero effort in, and it shows.

They are looking really bad. I'm in my fifties and would like to date a man somewhat close to my own age. The last time I was on Hinge I set my preferences to age not being a deal breaker. I would get men of all ages in my feed. On Hinge you can't see their ages unless you scroll down. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was looking at a guy over 40 only to scroll down and find out he was under 30. It's rough out there.

Yes. I’m at the age where I match with anyone from 25-50. I don’t see a big difference in attractiveness when I lower the age- the men are only more immature. In fact, men above 45 tend to either put in a lot of effort or none at all and so they are more attractive on average than the 28/30yos I’m matching with.

Bad genes+ bad diet+bad environment+porn+immobile lifestyle. We live in the most comfortable yet toxic era, our bodies haven't evolve to withstand it. To age gracefully in this era, you really need to take care of yourself, which means having discipline and high self control. Guess which sex are more prone to impulsivity and inability to take care of themselves?

The past world wasn't bad, you can actually live through your life aging gracefully with little effort. Today's world is severely unforgiving, only those with the highest effort (time, money, self control) can age gracefully. Men are too lazy to do that.

Nope, not just you, it’s been like this tbh. My friend and I have had a running joke for years now that there are literally no attractive men in our town. Even when we go out of town, we have a game where we count the number of attractive men we see. To date, we can count this on one hand. We aren’t even looking for model level attractive either - just like a normal attractive man who is clean, has a haircut/beard that compliments him, isn’t overweight & dresses well. We aren’t looking for 6 pack abs and a Rolex on his wrist and a jawline like a god. Literally the bar is so low.

It’s lack of caring imo. No one is attractive in all their unwashed, uncared for glory. Women are conditioned from an early age to care a great deal about their appearance tho, whereas men are taught entitlement to women’s time/energy/attention just by virtue of existing. They think we should just accept them as they are, putting in literally 0 effort and letting themselves go, while we bust our asses trying to meet their unrealistic beauty expectations. I have no doubt that they feel they “don’t have time/money/energy” to clean themselves up bc they are too busy spending their time/money on watching porn & playing video games.

Funniest thing is, I feel like there’s a stereotype of unattractive men making good partners, and that’s not even the case either. They will treat you just as bad as v attractive men will.

I thought it was just me that found men to just be so unattractive these days. Before I gave up dating altogether, I wasn't seeing anything that made me feel hopeful for my romantic future and the few guys who were decent looking had the the nastiest personalities, it all just made me realize that I was 100% justified in not dating at all. I don't miss it and I don't miss men. I'm grand the way things are now.
