We have heaters as a substitute for campfires, light-bulbs for sunlight, pressurized and purified tap water for natural water sources; nutritious, clean, tasty, and soft food for game with parasites and gathered moldy roots and berries, clothes for grass rags and furs full of tick nests. EVERY of these substitutes is a superior alternative that made our lives better.

"But you can't replace a relationship with a real person!" - Can't you?! Do you personally network with local food producers to keep your fridge full, with neighbors to keep streets clean, with craftsmen and factory workers if you need something? - No! You actively prefer depersonalized market economy, automated checkout machines in stores, buying stuff online for lower prices, because it is better than "relationships with real persons". You still can network with your neighbors, farmers, etc., but not out of necessity, for fun, and only until the fun lasts.

I can’t wait for the technological innovations when it comes to « replacing » women(I know this sounds bad but hear me out).. I think it will benefit both men and women alike because women will get the men they want and the men they don’t want won’t bother them..the disenfranchised men will just get whatever they need from technology while women will just be left to deal with the guys they really want while the rest of guys will just be concerned with the new technology ..no one bothers anyone else..win win situation for everyone...and for disenfranchised women (although the number is far less than men) can also get some new technological innovations to substitute men.. everyone’s happy.. but in this feminist driven society..I doubt lawmakers will let these technologies ride..

The way I see it, given the current trends, things can go one if three ways : 1. We see cultural paradigm shift that resembles relationship dynamics of the past ( unlikely, barring some catastrophe), 2. Women as a group take accountability and decide to adjust their standards / self reflect (lol) or 3. Technology fills the void.

Men turning to digital substitutes for real girls is not a first order cause, so it'll have few consequences of its own. Presumable, most of those men would rather have a real girlfriend if they could get one (of a reasonable quality).

Lower level men being excluded from the dating and family market is a consequence of women and higher level men increasingly engaging in polygamous-like lifestyles. It is an unmitigated disaster for social cohesion and public peace and prosperity. Possible a civilisation ending development. We as a human species have been there before. We chose monogamy for a very good reason. Not that it has stopped me from monopolizing more than my share of young and fertile women in my lifespan.

It's almost always pointless to speculate about futuristic scenarios. I believe the far-below the ground root of many of these problems can be found in the alienation and class politics of today.

We should instead try and be well-read, identify current and emerging problems, observe the prevalence/intensity of them, and understand what can be done.

A big problem today is the very close-to-heart apocalyptic and conspiratorial spirit I'm suspecting is growing. But this might just be another re-hash of the moral panics of the past.

Probably less time spent trying for real romantic interactions. It's the path of least resistance. That means that women will also have a smaller pool of men to select from, though the guys that are using digital substitutes probably wouldn't be considered as romantic partners for the vast majority anyway so they're using it out of need rather than preference.

I've noticed that in certain animes targeted at boys/men, like those in the action genre, they often involve harems with the main male protagonist and I think this subconsciously appeals to men who are living through the fantasy of being the hero of the story, and desired by many women. I always see it and it's probably my least favorite part of every show because it's predictable and unrealistic how they play out, though other guys who are unaware of it still put themselves in the hero's shoes.

Demand creates competition, competition drives progress and innovation.

Men will solve the issue through technology like they always have.

An adequate replacement for women will hit the markets.

Romance, sex, relationships, wombs to carry the children, the feelings that come with those... all of those will be just another product to buy in the market.

It will be better that way. The worst part of dating and relationships is the unreliability that comes with dealing with humans and how humans just refuse to provide what is needed out of them.

The replacement will not have those issues.

First, I thought one of the problems facing the younger generations was the overpopulation of the planet, so I guess you could say that is one positive. I think in general women are in for a rude awakening. They have been told that they can "have it all", the truth is nobody gets to "have it all". I think /bluepill just results in weak men that the women pushing that end up despising, the men end up left out. I think for guys they need to pursue excellence in their lives. Quit worrying about women and instead focus on yourself and your goals. Women find that attractive, at least the right kind of women. The others, let them have fun with the cats.

People who are into the digital substitutes bond over it, date each other, and accept the continued presence of the digital substitutes to various extents.

I find that this is more common in the West where there's more overlap between male and female fanbases (as in, women are more likely to watch the shows and play games targeted at men and vice versa). In Japan anime/game fandoms seem more gender-segregated, making it harder for people to form relationships over it.
