I was watching the united states' vs billie holiday recently and wtf the weird comments people throw at black women's hair have been happening forever. If it's natural hair, they will ask to touch, ( in my experience) if it's weave, they will make a comment. Black women can't win, always being gawked at like animals in a zoo smh.

I haven't seen this flag mentioned before, but if they say women aren't funny / make good comedians.

The only men who have ever said that to me could only name at most 2 female comedians (always the same ones) and I'm not convinced even watched their shows. It's clear their real issue is women getting a platform to speak.

“Simple man” by lynard Skynard. Only the messiest, drama-obsessed, therapist-needing guys seemed to whip this out early on. Red flags that he’s not ready to be dating.

Friends who have strong opinions about his ex and share them (positive or negative). He’s choosing which of his friends I meet - I know at least one of them slid into his ex’s DMs the week they broke up. If all I’m hearing is dirt, I know he’s only introducing me to the friends he knows will bash her.

Suggests being exclusive on the second or third date (no way he’s sure enough to give up his options that early - he’s trying to eliminate any competition for my time)

Schedules get togethers the day before - not game playing, just legitimately had things scheduled that I didn’t want to cancel for someone I wasn’t sure of, so it always killed the connection off.

No chemistry at all/signs he’s only there to impress friends. So guys never admit this, but if you are “popular” (or breathing- it’s a low bar) and the most admired guys / a lot of the guys in any given group are crushing on you .... you end up with a lot of rando dudes who previously didn’t know you existed ... suddenly slipping in randomly to shoot their shot. If you say yes .... those are such bizarre dates. The guy obviously isn’t all that physically attracted to you. He’s ignoring a million things that guys with crushes on or chemistry with you pick up. He’s clearly very interested in the hot waitress at your table. He’s a million miles away and his micro expressions are boredom and contempt. And then - sometimes - he dives for a kiss at the end that literally no one (including him, frankly) wants and clinks his teeth against your earring and acts all weird and rejected faster than you can figure out what the hell he’s thinking. 🤣

I finally realized it’s mostly bragging rights with the other guys. You’d see him get a small boost in popularity for getting time on your calendar if he played his cards right. Or get made fun of if he didn’t. 🙄 I was young and totally clueless and didn’t quite realize what was going on, but I did know it had nothing to do with me and wish I’d flagged them as huge “nope”s before they wasted my time. TLDR: status seeking dates from guys who don’t like you. Miserable.
