Every time I post stats about rape or violence in this sub, people don't believe me. Since a new report came out from a reputable organization, WHO, today, I thought it would be a good opportunity to discuss.

WHO is the World Health Organization, an agency of the United Nations focused on international health. They just released the largest-ever study of the prevalence of violence against women and they estimated 736 million women — almost one in three women globally — have suffered intimate partner violence, sexual violence from a non-partner — or both — at least once in their lives.

6% of women who took part had reported being sexually assaulted by someone other than their partner — and that estimate is believed to understate the real number because of stigma and underreporting of sexual abuse.
