"Those who disparage men and masculinity during good times cannot expect to be subject to their masculine grace in bad times. Those who discourage masculine pursuits and solid male relationships in their husbands' lives have no right to expect their "males" to sudden become Men, just because the power is out and the roof is leaking."

Those who discourage masculine pursuits and solid male relationships in their husbands' lives have no right to expect their "males" to sudden become Men, just because the power is out and the roof is leaking.

Men aren't born, instead they're formed through overcoming difficulties and hardships (i.e. a boy is sent off to warm and returns a man, etc.). Throughout history boys have been "initiated" into manhood by older mature men, often times through elaborate ceremonies and rites of passages. If we've removed fathers from our lives, vilified masculinity, have made boyhood a pathology, and emasculated our young males, what will become of our men?

[–]Demonspawn 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

what will become of our men?

Well let's look at an example.

Yeah, that doesn't look so good, does it?

[–]jb_trp 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eighty percent of the young men I have met in prison grew up in homes without fathers. The problem seems clear. When prisons and police replace fathers, chaos reigns, and promising young lives are sacrificed.

Truer words were never spoken. Warren Farrell describes prisons as receptacles for boys who grew up without fathers.

But...women are strong and independent and don't need no man and Smashing the Patriarchy.

How can this be that they need or want the protection of unconvicted PIV rapists?

[–]modern_rabbit 21 points22 points23 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You misunderstand, men cause all problems in the first place so it's their responsibility to fix them. Any woman attempting to educate and control men is a valiant hero, but no woman is required to do so.

[–]hashtagwindbag 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Any woman attempting to educate and control men is a valiant hero, but no woman is required to do so.

Well yeah, because expecting somebody to do something just because of their gender is wr-

Wait a minute...

To these individuals, strong European women are ‘easy’ and easy victims; they have respect only for strong men – and strong men aren't exactly thick on the ground in Europe.

The deficiency of masculinity in European culture renders it impotent in the face of the political and cultural chaos that has escalated along with growing immigration.

Okay, so... never mind.

[–]theDarkAngle 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Honestly i dont understand what you are trying to say

[–]Retarded_Swede 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which is funny because here in sweden, surveys show that the rightwing party that wanted restricted immigration policies is far more populare among men than women.

It's kind of their own fault for importing prople that have no respect for female rights. All while they blame the new arisen issues on white cis males.

[–]zyk0s 52 points53 points54 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Watch the origin video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYOORimbpUs

It's funny, because her observations are mostly correct, so she proves she's not just mindlessly following the leftist dogma. She's right that the migrants do this because they feel the men are weak and won't really respond. She's right that this little miniskirt demonstration is going to actually make things worse, because it confirms exactly what these migrants felt. And she's right that all this is due to feminist goals being achieved.

But then she talks about restoring a "balance", and that men need a "revolution" to take back their responsibility. She's a journalist, has she ever read or witnessed a revolution where people would demand a heavier burden on themselves? The balance was there, pre-feminism, it had men sacrificing themselves and protecting women in exchange for respect and status in society. The balance is simply what we've all known feminists were after: the perks of traditional gender roles and gender equality, with the sacrifices of none.

The fact she's ready to admit feminism may have done something wrong on the air shows she's actually terrified of what's to come. And rightly so, because while you can shame men into taking the bullet for you, you can't reverse a whole childhood of ideological conditioning overnight. These pansies in miniskirts would likely want to take that bullet, they just don't know how. They've been raised on the idea that "take back the night" marches would solve rape; the march they put up is their best, honest effort to defend their women. And that's precisely what's so scary for this woman.

[–]Dnile1000BC 28 points29 points30 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The damage is done. Less and less men are going to fulfill their traditional roles as protector because feminism has "liberated" them from this.

A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle right? Why are women acting all surprised when the fish is caught in a net and the bicycles are riding off in the sunset?

[–]baraxador 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

This. I don't think any man loved his traditional roles. Doing the hard work, going to work, going to war etc. Now everyone is saying you don't have to abide by your gender roles. And they won't. I love being able to treat a female as an equal.

[–]imba8 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

My Grandpa raised 3 kids on a single income (near Sydney, Australia). It was enough to pay off a modest home, go on interstate holidays once a year and keep everyone well fed / clothed etc.

Women faught for their right to work, have equal pay etc which of course was the right thing to do... But now look what we have. There is no way you can raise kids on a single income and pay off anything other than a tent.

That same family today, Mum would have to work as well. She would have to work full time to give the kids what they had previously on a single income. Or they could go without and have her work part time so she could at least spend some time with them (or Dad works part time w/e floats your boat)

[–]Antrophis 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women entering the workforce chained with atomization screwed everyone over.

[–]imba8 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True... And in Australia negative gearing.

[–]chavelah 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

This is a huge area of interest for me, as we live on a single income so that our children can be homeschooled. (There are other benefits, but that's the big one now that they are all school-aged.)

Real wages have indeed declined over the past 50 years, but IMO that's not what is stopping the middle class from living the one-income lifestyle. We just consume so much more than our grandparents did - starting with the square feet per person and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the average home. Expensive electronic devices for every member of the family, restaurant meals as a regular occurence, "travel teams" instead of sandlot baseball and visits to the town pool, summer day camps instead of running wild in the neighborhood or assisting with household and garden work or mowing lawns for school-clothes money... we SPEND SO FUCKING MUCH. We acquire more material goods than we need or can appreciate. We pay for entertainment instead of letting our kids entertain themselves.

We are lucky not to have money problems, but I know lots of families who live the way we do on MUCH less. Their kids have what kids had two generations ago. They just don't have that PLUS all the other crap that I'm not even sure is good for kids anyhow.

[–]imba8 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think we're I live it's the extreme end of the spectrum due to negative gearing / foreign investment.

The average house price used to be 3 times the annual wage. Today, it's more than 12 times.

[–]Adanu0 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You've found a man who would love a traditional relationship from before the feminazi movement.

[–]Ovendice 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They were all brow beaten, drugged and mentally and emotionally abused by all of their Feminist teachers and raised by single mothers who deliberately chose to be single. While at the same time there weren't even any positive male role models even in the media. They've had no way of knowing how to act and any and every boyish and/or mannish show of power and assertion is quickly knocked back down with threats of calling the police and false accusations. Acting traditionally male is illegal now and is literally legally defined as 'abuse.' So men do not even have any rights or power in their own homes, much less anywhere outside of it. And in Europe even if you try to defend yourself or someone else you go to jail. All due to Feminist laws over time. Made bed = lie in it.

[–]perfectEarlobes 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be honest i think it just comes down to prudence.

You are more likely to have your life wrecked through the legal system, assault and given in Germany's case, i wouldn't be surprised if you faced racism/hate charges because the other person was from a middle eastern country.

The penalty for being a man for any given crime will always be greater than a woman. The standard reaction to seeing any kind of violence is not to help, it is either to walk away or flip out your phone.

[–]BigOldNerd 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But should these attacks happen in the first place?

Good call. Hop into my time machine. We have to go prevent those crimes!

Part of the reason for this isn't the fact that men can or can't do it, it's the fact that anybody trying to protect these women would be called bigots and racists, which is a whole problem in itself.

Not disagreeing with the sentiment, but feminism isn't 100% the issue here either.

[–]superstubb 114 points115 points116 points 10 years ago (67 children) | Copy Link

The author is blaming the "weakness" on rabid feminism. And I agree with him.

If women think equality is stripping men of their masculinity, this is the result when men from other cultures, cultures who not only don't see women as equals, but in some cases, property, get thrown into the mix.

Yeah, what's happening now isn't very surprising.

[–]franklindeer 55 points56 points57 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I would agree that feminism has pushed for the demonization of any kind of traditional manhood and can likely be saddled with the blame for the "weak men" they're referring to.

On the other hand, I don't think men should continue to act as physical shields for women in need either. For too long men have sacrificed their safety unreasonably in order to protect women and that has been harmful to both sexes.

[–]superstubb 31 points32 points33 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I don't disagree with you. Personally, I'd try to help anyone, man or woman, if needed. But I don't think it's my obligation because of some gender role.

[–]bigbronze 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's the irony in this. Any good moral being knows it's better to stand up for the weak. But men are physically bigger and stronger; so it's sorta kinda a gendered trait. As a man, you are bigger than the average woman so you would naturally help them out, same with kids.

[–]68696c6c 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A 'good moral being' would help anyone in danger out, regardless of their size/strength.

[–]Mahhrat 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the basis for whatever patriarchy is though, I wonder?

Men had the physical strength and thus made the rules.

We are capable of more nuanced society now and that should be explored, but that has to include revisiting the role of everyone, and realising most of us arent to blame for the situation we find ourselves in.

[–]redgreenyellowblu 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have some ambivalence over this as well. Would it be different if we hadn't been told all our lives there is nothing uniquely noble or noble about men? That women simply don't need men?

I just don't like the idea of now suddenly being needed as protector when I'm simultaneously needing to be diplomatic on my facebook posts when some stupid feminist bullshit gets posted so I don't appear as sexist. If I have fucking male privilege, then I want the fucking privileges. If I don't get those, then I'm not interested in being the male defender of women. And by privileges, I mean the very simple things like the right to explain something rationally to someone without being labelled a mansplainer or sexist.

In the end, though, men need to defend our nations and our cultures. Women who've been running men down for decades will be a beneficiary, but so be it. I'd rather have a culture that allows people to believe idiocy like feminism than one where women have to wear burkas.

[–]redgreenyellowblu 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Late response, but yes, I do expect women to act somewhat stupid and for men to have to fix things, so to speak. It's not what I wish to be, but it's what seems to be happening. If that's collectivist, then so be it. Perhaps women will surprise me. I hope they do. But so far it's been, "We're strong grrrls and can do everything the men can do. " Followed by, "Now, where are all the real men and why aren't they protecting us?"

[–]Santaball 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think the strong has a moral responsibility to help the weak. But that being said I bet that bicycle is looking pretty good right about now.

[–]azazelcrowley 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not when the weak do absolutely fuck all to protect themselves or learn and abuse your good will and refuse your advice.

[–]Dnile1000BC 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not when the weak hates the strong and destroys the safety structures that protect the weak.

[–]franklindeer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We don't live in a society that requires it the same way we used to and I think that's why we need to rethink old, increasingly unnecessary views of the responsibilities of men in society.

Of course I think all people should do what they can to help those around them but that's different from the old view that women are entitled to this sacrifice and men are required to make it.

[–]killcat 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But good for the species, the individual means little.

[–]franklindeer 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We don't live in nomadic tribes but modern society, this no longer applies in this context.

[–]killcat 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I notice that the language is codified. The article talks about european men being weak and muslim men being strong but we aren't engaged in a bench pressing contest. I'm sure there are more than enough physically capable european men so this woman is trying say something without using the correct words.

Women do this trick when using the correct words would apply some responsibility to them. In this case, the writer wants men to be assertive, aggressive, protective and potentially violent. But decades of lecturing about oppression, violence, sexism and racism mean that asking for those things will make her look like the hypocrite she truly is. Men have no motivation to be any of those things. They know they would be accused, vilified and slandered by the same women who now want protection.

So no, european men are not weak, they are allowing equality, like you requested. Mulism men are not strong, they are sexist, send some feminists to lecture them about it.

[–]azazelcrowley 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right. It's not a case of men not being strong. It's a case of us no longer giving a fuck.

[–]Demonspawn 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But she's saying what she means:

Giving into women's demands is weak.

Not giving into women's demands is strong.

Feminism is a strength test that western society failed: they gave into women's demands.

[–]Demonspawn 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, you don't understand. Feminism IS a shit test.

And it's not "sexism" to understand how men and women are actually different.

[–]linearThinker 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Giving into women's demands is weak. Not giving into women's demands is strong. Feminism is a strength test that western society failed: they gave into women's demands.

So, all women have to do is demand that men save them and they will?

If men are not protecting women, then either women are not demanding it or men are not giving into women's demands that men should protect them.

[–]Demonspawn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, all women have to do is demand that men save them and they will?

Actually, yes. Unless there is some other higher calling for society: what women want, women get.

If men are not protecting women

They are... they're just so emasculated and fucked up from modern society they don't know how. They think marches and demonstrations is how to you do things.... those rubes in the miniskirts? That was the "men" of their society "protecting" women.

[+][deleted] -14 points-13 points-12 points 10 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

So no, european men are not weak, they are allowing equality, like you requested.

Doing something simply because someone requested it is weakness.

If the migrants had any fear of reprisal we would not see such events occurring. No, it is not all men's responsibility, but German men who have german mothers, sisters, lovers and friends do have a responsibility to ensure their families can take a train ride without fear of when they get off the train being met with mobs of groping muslims.

You guys can whine and say #notyourmeetshield, but the reality is, if you are a man and there are other men in your neighborhood abusing those around you, it is your responsibility as a man to take steps to ensure such stops.

Mulism men are not strong,

So what's so hard about standing up to them and putting them in their place?

Women have a responsibility to their species to be good mothers, men have a responsibility to protect the mothers of their children. Whine all you'd like about unfair this and bitchy women that, but whining is what the weak do.

[–]p3ngwin 21 points22 points23 points 10 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

So what's so hard about standing up to them and putting them in their place?

being labeled a racist for one.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

I have a friend who grew up in Saudi, he explained to me how the word racist is a word islamists know people in the west absolutely hate and fear to be called. He explained how it was a tool used to keep those who would rightfully critisize from rightfully critisizing.

Let people throw the term around. The more it is used, the less weight it carries, and we are already seeing the word loose it's meaning. You know who you are, do not let another shame you into behaving they way they want because you're afraid of being called something you know you are not.

Would being called a misogynist for posting on this sub, stop you from posting on this sub?

[–]p3ngwin 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

you're talking to the wrong crowd.

you need to point that intention towards the men and leaders of Europe who ARE afraid to stop the behaviours reported here for fear of being labeled racist and bigot, etc.

[+][deleted] -13 points-12 points-11 points 10 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

you're talking to the wrong crowd.

Seems like it, the men here seem to have lost the thing which makes men men, a willingness to act. It's saddening to see men behave so childishly, pretending they do not have a responsibility to those around them. We are nothing if not responsible for those around us.

If it's women you're mad at, acting like a child will not gain the respect of women you so desire.

[–]p3ngwin 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

i'm referring to the fact the men here aren't the ones being inactive, that you need to direct your attention to.

Everybody is responsible for their own life, and what they hold valuable to them, be it people or possessions.

Nobody has any inherent responsibility to protect anybody else, it's choice. Men aren't obliged to look after "women & children" any more than women are obliged to be "pregnant and serving sandwiches."

If it's women you're mad at, acting like a child will not gain the respect of women you so desire.

absolutely no idea what you're talking about now.

[+][deleted] -9 points-8 points-7 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

This nihilism of no responsibility other than that we place on ourselves is problematic and the type of thinking which has led feminism to behave in a way which is hurting men and society at large. Don't get me wrong, anyone can do whatever they would like, but if everyone were to do only what brought them immediate joy and satisfaction forgoing larger responsibilities we as a species would no longer function.

A woman of child bearing age absolutely does have a responsibility to be as healthy as possible for the off chance she may get pregnant, this responsibility is not to herself, but to the potential child she may bare. Men who enjoy freedoms won for them by the blood of others have a responsibility to support and defend the society which allows them to live freely. Part of this responsibility includes protecting from invasion of those who do not support the same ideologies wbich allows the free man to be free.

i'm referring to the fact the men here aren't the ones being inactive that you need to direct your attention to.

The whining of #notyourmeatshield shows you're wrong.

Everybody is responsible for their own life, and what they hold valuable to them, be it people or possessions.

Right, I value a society free and healthy enough to allow people to walk down the street free from fear of being raped.

Nobody has any inherent responsibility to protect anybody else, it's choice.

We would not have the instinctual response of compassion if this were true.

Men aren't obliged to look after "women & children" any more than women are obliged to be "pregnant and serving sandwiches."

Women do have a responsibility to support good men in their endeavors. Society does function best when we fulfill our respective responsibilities.

Do not let feminist ideologies lead your thinking.

You're playing the she started game while telling me to grow up? Ironic. Men lead, maybe you'll learn that one day.

[–]baskandpurr 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No, I'm not playing the "she started game" as you put it. However, that is how you interpret what I said so I don't think there's going to be much point to debating with you. Maybe you won't figure it out eventually. Yes, men do lead. But I think you haven't done very much leading if you can't tell the difference between that and dictating.

[–]Demonspawn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

pretending they do not have a responsibility to those around them.

That responsibility exists only as long as society doesn't damn men for fulfilling it.

Our society shits on men, and even shits on men that take responsibility for those around them.

There's only so many times we can get smacked for helping others before we realize they don't want to be saved. It's time to leave them to their own devices and wallow in their own misery. This society is no longer worth saving. Let it burn.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I get that, but running away, turning our backs in a time of need is not the way we pull ourselves out and become respected in the west again.

[–]Demonspawn 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is no way to save the west. It is corrupt, imploding, and hell-bent on self-destruction.

I will not save the west. Whatever meager reward (likely being shit on by those I saved) is not worth the effort. Not to mention that they won't stop their self-destruction and will just need me to save them again in 10 years. I wouldn't be helping them by saving them... I would just be enabling them.

Now, if you want to discuss the 2nd American revolution and overthrowing the existing society to replace it with a sane one... that is worth the effort. But anything short of that isn't.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

And others in this thread are wrong for arguing such. They are allowing women to dictate their lives rather than dictating their own. Sad really.

[–]Santaball 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's the opposite actually. Men are deciding not to get involved when women find out the world is not all pink flowers and rainbows.

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Ok, let's follow that logic train:

Some women decided the world was pink flowers, men told women that's not so true, some women mocked those men, women need help, the men who were mocked go we told you it wasn't all pink flowers and refuse to help.

Well, that's certainly not opposite of what I claimed. At some point this tantrum throwing of trying lay blame needs to stop.

If there's a problem, standing around trying to figure out who to blame for the problem does nothing to solve the problem.

[–]Santaball 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We've been inundated with how stunning and brave women were. Publicly shamed and punished by the state at the whim of women via ambiguous harassment, the Duluth model and everything is rape laws. Women have way more power via the state than men. It's to the point where it's actually safer to ignore or be indifferent to what women are doing. After all this state sanctioned abuse you expect men who have lost their families and livelihood to go out there and stop women from being raped and abused? You can't say you can do everything a man can do but better in heels, hold it over a guys head wearing a boys are stupid shirt, then demand help at the drop of a hat. Women are going to have to learn to protect themselves or give men something worth fighting for. Because honestly, they're not even worth getting out of bed for at this point.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Fucking depressing, no not all the things which have and are happening to men, but to hear a man so broken by these things. It's always someone elses fault. You're letting them win with this attitude. It will be men with attitudes such as this who allow for the downfall of the west, but maybe we deserve it if your attitude is representative.

So the article is correct. You are weak men who because some women were mean to you have decided to throw tantrums and walk away. As another post pointed out, respect is earned, and men will not warn respect back by turning their backs on society. Downvote away, but none of you have shown any sort of spines. The author is right, you are weak men and your weakness is what leads you here. Disgusting.

[–]Santaball 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Someone else's fault? In all honesty if you can tell me how to win in these situations such as divorce and false accusations you can easily single handedly get men to consider going back. Until then, let's have the clock reset and see what comes from that.

[–]CyberToyger 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Santaball isn't broken, he's Free. He's alive. A man does not owe "society" anything, especially not his own life. If a man wants to protect his own sister/mother/daughter/wife, then he will. But he is not obligated to protect or help anyone else. He is not a tool to be used by society.

And there will not be a downfall of "the West", because the people trying to cause its downfall are being raped and killed by the consequences of their own beliefs and actions. All you can do is protect the people you love, teach your children and others how to be strong independent individuals, and let nature take its course. History has shown itself to be cyclical yet constantly improving. It is a combination of complacency and ignorance that allows things to become corrupt and brought to the brink of collapse, but then humanity overcomes it and reaches a new apex of freedom and understanding. We have done away with Feudalism and slavery and countless diseases, it simply takes time for progress to be achieved.

[–]redgreenyellowblu 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you. It is weakness. Or, it was weakness. Now it is just as much inertia and living in this new conceptual framework. Many men (like me) have simply grown up in this and are in (or were in) a fog.

When second wave feminism happened men should have laid the law down then. They should have removed all perks like getting married and coming to the rescue of women in any and all manners imaginable. Men tried to accomodate women and were too nice. They were afraid of being labelled sexists. Of course, we are still doing that, but now it is in this fog that seems like the new normal until we have something like the Muslims coming in and shocking us back into reality.

[–]dungone 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who cares what he blames it on? It has nothing to do with either "weakness" or "masculinity". For one thing, it's not men's responsibility to save women. For another, we still don't even know what really happened - if anything. And for a third, we already gave up way too much privacy and freedom for the sake of "public safety" and "anti-terrorism", to the point where we are basically living in Orwellian police states. But this guy doesn't think that's enough to keep the wee womyn safe?

It takes a particularly deranged and dangerous idiot to tie their nationalism to their manhood. This guy doesn't seem to like the idea of living in a democratic country.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Weakness is our own fault where it exists. Let's not blame our failings on others.

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points40 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well - looks like the old tired line of "women dont need a man anymore because they are so strong and independent - dies pretty quick doesnt it? Tough luck and tough love. The thing is - men are stronger today because we've learned to walk away from situations that dont involve us. We've listened, learned, and adapted to the demands of the modern women.

I've walked away from situations where a woman was getting mugged/raped, and didnt care. She would either fight the attackers off or not fight them off, and learn to be better prepared next time. On my end, I didnt get involved in a situation where I could've gotten hurt or be sued by the woman or the attackers. Win-win.

Remember - the good samaritan law only is applicable if you fully understood what you were seeing as an attack. If you ever get asked, just say that you didnt understand what you saw, and didnt hear anything.

[–]dalef77 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I can understand not wanting to become personally involved and risk your safety, life, or freedom. However, I hope if you observe someone being a victim of a crime, that you would at least notify the police.

[–]yummyluckycharms 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Actually the rational course of action is to never get involved at all. Putting aside the moral dilemma of propping up an abusive discriminatory system, I would ask you to consider the following....

Say it actually is a robbery, mugging, rape, etc and you save the person. This means you now have to go to court to testify against that person. Jury duty pay is pathetic - I would lose money just walking through the front door. Also, how do you think your employers feel about jury duty (hint - not well). Employers dont like it when employees take time off work for any reason - whether it be pregnancy, military duty, or even sick days included - what do you think will happen to your career after jury duty? What if the jury duty is over an extended period? Your coworkers aren't going to be grateful that they are working extra hard to cover for you, and your boss isnt happy that his projects schedule is delayed either. You can pretty much dismiss any chance of getting a promotion thats for sure. In essence, interfering to stop that crime hurts one career and financial well being.

But there's more - there are legal ramifications by getting involved. What if in the process of stopping the crime, I injure the criminal. They can now sue me for loss of income, and physical rehabilitation costs. Also, so can the victim if she gets hurt while I'm trying to save her.

Thirdly, there's the issue that I can become physically hurt in the process of saving her, and there is no compensation for me if that happens.

Lastly, there is also the tricky reality that sometimes what you think is rape is actually just rough sex in a dirty alley between consenting adults. I'm sure its the same in most cities, but I remember back when I was in my club phase, it was not uncommon to see people get frisky in a dark corner.

In summary - from an economical, legal, physical and yes moral stance - there is never a good reason as to why a male should intervene to help a stranger.

[–]dalef77 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In my previous comment, I was not referring to testifying in court, serving on a jury, or physically stopping the crime. I was just advocating calling the police so they could stop the crime.

[–]yummyluckycharms 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But what would be the point of calling the police? They would take 10-15 minutes to arrive, at which point, the crime is already finished.....and thats assuming that they even do come.

When I was a few years younger, the cops took 8 hours to show up to stop a home invasion at my cousins. At that point, it was just a courtesy to aid in insurance filing. lol

I liked these lines: The thing is, Whitney: It's the 21st century here because big strong men made it the 21st century and keep it that way. Elsewhere it's the 12th century, because big strong men have made it that and keep it that. The future goes where men go and does what men make it do. If men go down the drain, the future will follow.

In America, God willing, the future includes rights and opportunities for women — because men say it does. On the day American men aren't strong enough to maintain those rights for women, other men will come and take them away.

We are not actively raping people, we are merely withdrawing support and protection from them (its completely different).

Its like you demanding to stay in my storm shelter when all you have done is complain and try to remove it (building regulations), you certianly don't deserve to die in a tornado for what you have done, but you dont deserve to be in my shelter either , if you die via tornado that's unfortunate but not a result of my actions (i didn't make the tornado).

I didn't say anything that implied that. Just that what happened to them was bad. And I agree that it would be good if they too combated misandry. But I also don't cast a shadow over them personally because of things they may or may not have done.

Edit: I would think you're pretty much a rad-fem in reverse if your going to fight misandry with misogyny. And having no sympathy for some women because some different women who aren't them are horrible is petty and misguided.

additionally just want to point the logic out

c'mon getting raped is horrid and no one deserves that

the more true that statement is (i.e the more horrid rape is) then by association the more horrid the insinuation that all men need to be educated to stop them raping and its men and not rapists that are the problem.

The crime and punishment are in equal balance, i.e the stronger the case that they "dont deserve rape because its horrid" the stronger the case that they so deserve to be "Left alone" because "rape is horrid and hence demonising all men as rapists is horrid"

Boom

Well... men are weaker. Masculinity and toughness is discouraged more and more by society. In it's place we get what they ask for: timid, sensitive, girly men who have no sense of chivalry towards women. And why should they? Society wants men to treat women like other men and not only that, society wants men to act more like women.

While women are becoming more masculine and outspoken, stronger and more aggressive, men are becoming more meek, weak-willed, sensitive, and less decisive.

Which do you want? Equality in every aspect? Or go back to recognizing that we are biologically different?

I think we're kinda missing the point here. There's still waaaay too much of MRA's calling European men that they're weak like it's a bad thing. It's fine for them to be whoever they want to be; their gender does not define who they should be.

Then again if gender doesn't necessitate anything, we shouldn't be called upon for defense. Do it yourself, whoever you are.

I'm still pretty amazed that feminists are still pulling the "women don't need men" line. Sure lady, you're right. You don't need a man to help raise your child. But it doesn't show that you're a strong person to raise a child by yourself because you want to. That just shows immaturity. The 7 Habits ranks the three stages of wisdom as dependence, independence, and interdependence. Goes to show how far mass feminism has to go to start seeing men and women as humans, first and foremost.

Oh look a snarky fool.

Can you define socialist? I doubt it.

Let me help.

'Partial ownership of the means of production.'

You are welcome.

European men deserve the blame for allowing their rights to be taken away to such a point where their fellow citizens are criminals for inflicting harm on an attacker when trying to defend themselves.

This is absolutely correct. It is only annoying in that men, even now, risk being vilified as sexist pigs by everyone around them for speaking the truth. And in this environment, men are expected to be defenders? Men in Europe are being labelled as Neo-Nazis for forming vigilante groups that do so much as post flyers. They are getting visits from the police for postings to facebook.

Still, it is men's duty to protect our countries and cultural institutions. It doesn't matter that we will be criticized for doing so. I don't want to live in a caliphate just so I can watch feminists get what they were asking for.

Yes, yes they are the limpwristed liberal men to be precise.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We have all the rights and all the power in society, but we're weak.

It's kind of like that saying about why God invented whiskey, so that the Irish wouldn't take over the world.

hrm, this article, although having a good point as a base is just everywhere and devolves into random buss words etc. The only part i think that is worth anything is the end.

"It's the 21st century here because big strong men made it the 21st century and keep it that way. Elsewhere it's the 12th century, because big strong men have made it that and keep it that. The future goes where men go and does what men make it do. If men go down the drain, the future will follow."

Can you blame the men of the west? If they touch one of these invaders they go to jail. Also, it's not like western women want are hospitable to us also. Feminism and the left has ruined those country down to it's core. The US is not far behind.

Meanwhile, real strong women are putting down the disgusting racists who commit crimes in their name. link And let the "strong independent" women who need protection and guardianship make themselves look like fools.

[–]antarel 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the feminist war on masculinity might be the underlying cause of the weakness of European culture

Very astute observation.

[–]lolbience 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because a strong man keeps his women under lock and key? This sounds like something the rapist Muslim men would say...

What, women can't carry and use knives? What, are the things too heavy for them?
