You may or may not be aware of this, as it is a story currently ongoing in England, about a 33 year old woman who went missing on her way home at around 9 to 10pm. Her remains have been discovered today. A police officer is being questioned on suspicion of her murder.

Women all over my social media are angry. She was walking home. How many of us have to be concerned and scared walking home because we may be literally murdered. So many of my friends are now posting about how women have to cover up, take longer routes home (better lit, less quiet so more people incase), you keep your keys in your hand incase you have to defend yourself, no headphones so you can hear someone coming, change the side of the road to avoid getting close to someone, texting your friends and sharing your location so they know where you are just in case. And then you get murdered by a fucking police man?

I’m just.... fuming. I’m disgusted. I’m angry. I’m sad. Another woman is dead because she walked outside.

I’m not entirely sure why I’m posting this, I just feel sick to my stomach. And all over the world this happens every single day. Raped, murdered, battered, abused. And angry.

An edit to add, for any other UK people like me, that there was a random murder last year of two sisters. They were just celebrating a birthday in a park in London (due to covid, can’t be inside with people), it was late in the night, but they still weren’t asking for it, and were both stabbed to death by an 18 year old stranger. I never even heard about this on the news. Women have it hard, women of colour have it even harder. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-56361782
