In an AskReddit thread that made it to popular one of the comments was about a horror movie called Dead Girl. Just reading the plot on Wikipedia made me nauseated it was basically just torture porn. Absolutely disgusting I’m grateful I’ve never seen it

I also hate shows that use the nude female body to make up for not having an interesting plot, or to make up for anything else that is missing - just using female nudity to keep it “interesting”. So dumb. I hate constantly seeing female objectification.

Yeah this is why I stopped watching horror. To much of it can just be summed up to "bad shit happens to woman".

Also movies about demonic possession are boring as hell. You never see men get possessed, only attractive young women.

This reminds me of "The Shining" (1977 i think?) where how the main actress was traumatized from the director. It's almost as if he depicts her trauma and stress for men's entertainment

Have you seen Love Death & Robots? I was so uncomfortable watching it and my ex LOVED it.

I can't even describe how much violence towards women it had, it was basically just rape and murder porn.

Horror movies became mainstream when women were gaining more independence in the 60’s and 70’s. The ‘final girl’ trope was popularized in the late 1970’s at the height of second wave feminism. It featured mostly white, brunette virgin women who were brutalized by men who killed their non-virgin female victims with phallic objects. The 80’s and 2000’s were so tacky and horrific for the genre. Fuck torture porn and Eli Roth in particular.

My favorite 70’s horror movie has to be The Stepford Wives. A near perfect satire of men’s response to second wave feminism. Men hate that their wives don’t want to be bangmaids anymore so they create sex slave robots to replace them. They should re-make it to erase the horrific 2004 re-make and to satirize the new trend of “Tradwife” BS.

I’m gonna go re-watch that, Midsommar and You’re Next later. I need more feminist horror movies.

God this was like a whole TikTok comment section I saw yesterday talking about the movie Megan is Missing. It’s about a teenage girl who’s kidnapped, tortured, raped and buried alive while her parents look for her. It’s gruesome and I won’t go into further detail, my friend told me about it years ago and it upset me for days just hearing about it, it’s truly worse than it even sounds. And all the comments were making jokes and saying “lol just watch it, it’s not even that bad”. Meanwhile just seeing them joke about it upset me. And I actually like horror movies.

I stopped watching movies including horror for my procrastination habits but I decided to watch one after so long cause I missed them and a "friend" of mine recommended one called "Martyr". Please for the love of God don't watch it, it's not a bad movie regarding the plot and the acting but holy shit it's actual torture pornm. You simply can't avoid them sadly, some more extreme than others.

(Warning: spoilers for Carrie, 21 days later and Clockwork orange and evil dead I may be wrong here, but its just an opinion after all but I think real messed up stuff like rape should only be in movies/shows if it actually serves an purpose: like for character arcs like showing how the world is like in the show (eg clockwork orange, this is an anarchist distopia and the protagonist is a psycopath with no care for other people, so yeah theres a lot of rape and murder and other messed up things, but its there to show how horrible main character and this world really are, and makes us feel so good when seeing karma finally catching up and messing up this monsters life) Or if it ACTUALLY makes sense/progress in the story (eg: 21 days later, we barely see anymore humans, and when the main group that has a woman and a teenage girl found other survivors (that were only military men) they wanted to keep the women in there for themselves in order to continue the species, I mean its rape, its obviously horrible and all, but AT LEAST in this context it has logic why characters would do it in that situation) or (eg Carrie being a child of marital rape, thats why her mother is super religious and see Carrie as a walking sin and mistreating her a lot, and tho its obviously not Carries fault, we can kinda make sense to this treatment after knowing about the fact) Or bases in real events that had it (eg a Ted bundy documentary/movie, and you know, cant omit the fact)

But then there are movies using rape just for the sake of rape, aaaaaand yeah. Its bad. Unconfortable. Gut wrenching. I love Evil Dead, I can take my dosage of gore and demons, but the scene of the beggining of the movie with a woman being raped by a posessed tree is is just so unecessary...I always have to skip that part because it not only has 0% PURPOSE, it is beyond unfonfortable. Scenes like this should only be at most into directors comentary, storyboards or deleted scenes

A really good horror movie that I love is Hush! It’s about a novelist woman who lives in a remote cabin. There’s a really neat twist (she’s deaf) and it actually functions in the plot really well. I don’t want to spoil too much, but she has to fight off an attacker using her wits and quick thinking. For me, it was one of those movies that made me feel strong, since she isn’t the damsel, she’s the hero. I hope y’all like it!

My channel is permanently stuck on dabyl with Martha Stewart, kitchen night mare with Gordon Ramsey is the most violent show on this channel as he berates the restaurant owners , then saves thier ass..then we have fugly ass Emeril cooking up delicious looking food, a bit of this old house, loving you gotta eat here..dabyl channel is running in my background for 2 months straight...Its been a soothing decision than rather being bombarded with male hate spew.

Years ago my friend suggested we watch this film called “I Spit On Your Grave,” and it was the most disgusting movie I have ever seen. I still feel sick to my stomach thinking about the scenes in that movie, just pure torture/rape. It was absolutely horrible
