This is a good point, as an ICU nurse & emergency nurse for a long time, I have witnessed men literally be having heart attacks and multiple broken bones and refusing to ask for help.

"Sir, do you need help using the bathroom? You just had major surgery." "No I'm good." Actually it's a big challenge for many men during their recovery to deal with thr loss of autonomy, especially when it comes to toileting and hygiene tasks.

I do get approached by random people in the parking lot from time to time usually looking for the hospital entrance. This was a good reminder to stay vigilant.

Wow this reminds me of a few weeks ago when I was getting gas and the man at the pump next to me was sitting in his truck and said “excuse me miss, I have a broken rib, I can’t reach my car door, would you close it for me?”

And I froze. I was so suspicious, I felt uncomfortable and I almost ignored him and walked away. Something so innocent and simple, and my reaction was to run?! I did end up closing the car door from the other side of the door where he couldn’t snatch me up. He thanked me and drove away, so it was clear he wasn’t trying to abduct me or anything, but man that was an eye opener as far as the climate surround women’s safety around men.

Recently rewatched The Silence of the lambs, and that's exactly what happens to one of the victims. I remember thinking "why would a guy ask a woman for physical help, whn they pride themselves in being stronger all the time ? " Well I have the answer now I guess.

lol a guy asked me for help for directions and i said "sorry, i don't know". then he walks in the same direction as me mumbling how i should help, so i say "how am i supposed to help you? i don't know" to make some noise to alert others around me and walk a different route. so yeah, i will not be helping any man. they think they are entitled to my help

One time I was in a grocery store and there was a man by the exit with his arm in a sling. He was having trouble pushing his cart and asked me if I could help him to his car and load his groceries. I said sure and waved over a man in the store uniform. I said happily, here he can help you out! I didn’t want to walk away with some strange man. I had a doubt in my mind that his arm was really broken and needed to be in a sling. I think he just wanted me to think he was the weak and vulnerable one so I would feel bad for him.

Ladies, it is never our job to help a man out. If there wasn’t another male employee to flag down just say, sorry I’m in a hurry and continue walking. If he really did need help, that ain’t my problem. We gotta be cold, sorry bout it. I don’t want to end up raped and tied up in someone’s basement, being sold into human trafficking. Picture that scenario when a man asks for help. They are never helpless in this world.

What a great tip, I’ve been only asked for directions from random men (super rare), I was sussed out then and kept my distance but now it makes sense because men never like to ask for directions.

LVM exclusively listen to men. For advice, admiration, insight, EVERYTHING. They only care to rely on other men.

When a man asks a woman for help, this is HIGHLY unusual. Especially if it’s a strange or quiet, isolated setting. For example, on the side of the road, an empty parking lot, a quiet street.

Be mindful of this PLEASE. If a man approaches you, a woman, for help, he is almost certainly trying to harm you. In this day and age, he has access to his male friends and family by speed dial, or 911.

He does not need or want your help. He wants to harm you.

this is not just hybristophilia at play, this is social engineering at its finest so labile women fall into these traps. a history of abuse and violence will push the most labile to worship the "manliness" of serial murderers. 2017 - 2019 was a terrible couple of years that has seen movies such as "my friend Dahmer", "Manson's lost girls", "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile " (the latter about Bundy).

what would explain the media's sudden interest and desire for a revival of Serial K movies and shows?

IDK but it sure affected teenage minds into worshipping these figures indiscriminately. they put a reasonably good looking actor in the role of ted Bundy and all of a sudden you have teenage girls women saying that they would love to be his victims.

Whenever I see men in parking lots asking for money I always see them go up to women that are alone. They don’t approach men and they don’t approach couples. They only target women that are alone. After I noticing this disturbing pattern I now ward them off from a distance and get very loud. I tell them to leave me alone and go ask a man for help. I yell at them to stop targeting women. Then when I am safely in my locked vehicle I call the store and report a solicitor.

EVERY TIME Bundy gets mentioned, his good looks are talked about. That's what the media said and that's what people repeat all these decades later. I remember posting in some true crime sub a few years back and mentioning that this fucker is no model cause OP brought up his great looks(lmao) and I was heavily upvoted by people who OF COURSE agree and people who had a wake up call lmaaao. They were also blindly repeating it cause it was told to them. I genuinely think this man is ugly. If I knew nothing about him, his face is unattractive and he looks fucking old. My mother always warned me against this. She said to never ever ever stop if someone asks for help. Tell them you are busy and walk away. If you stop for any reason, take the most physical distance you can, and don’t let them take you anywhere to “help” them.

My mother also always educated me to not give a shit about being nice, people can fuck off with their opinions. I think that’s the best she did as a mother, and saved me a lot of times. I’ve always been polite to men, but the moment they requests were out of my safety reach, I would stick to my guns.

I think is sick men are allowed to SO OPENLY deceive us, and people still blame us. Absolutely disgusting.

Men have cell phones nowadays. They can call police, a friend, roadside assistance, find directions, pretty much anything on their phone. Pretty much everyone has one nowadays. If he insists he doesn't have one, move along, that's not your problem. He can head into the nearest business or find another man to help him. If you two are out in the middle of nowhere and there are no businesses nearby for him to borrow a phone? All the more reason to not stop and let him use yours.

If he's having a heart attack, had a wreck, fell, broke his leg, etc. there's no reason to physically help him. You're not a doctor (unless you are), what are you going to do? Call 911 for him from a safe distance.

Yep, a major male tactic is to use women's empathy and kind-heartedness against them. This is why good boundaries are so important. Men claim to be so superior and look down on women (even though men commit the vast majority of crimes, cause/wage all wars, are terrible drivers, are the main vectors of STI transmission [lesbians have the lowest levels of STIs] and despite women literally creating them [their gods]) so don't have empathy for them, they can handle whatever life throws at them, not your problem.

Every week it seems, there's an ask reddit thread about the scariest thing that happened to you.

A recurring post is people driving along a desolate road and encountering either what looks like an accident (with people laying on the road seemingly knocked out, car doors open) or a driver in need (stuck on the side of the road.)

Often the redditor will mention they had a bad gut feeling, so they'd keep driving. Then in their rear view mirror, see the "injured" people get up, sometimes jump into the car to give chase. Occasionally they'll see more people coming out of the surrounding bushes - as in, it was clearly a trap.

Yeah, don't stop to help people. If you do, stay in the car, crack the window ONLY enough to talk, and offer to call the cops.

I was in grad school and headed to the library early one morning to study for exams. It was about 7am so early and no one really out and about as yet — and it was a weekend too. There driving out of the parking lot was a white van. He stopped the van and asked me if I knew where to find a particular building. The campus is big with the undergraduate campus and other schools and I only knew where my grad program was housed so I said I couldn’t help. He then asked me if I’d mind going around to the passenger side of the vehicle and picking up off the floor some directions or a map that he had. He said he was injured or hurt and could not bend to pick it up off the floor. I could not believe what i was hearing. I didn’t skip a beat - I said “the campus police is right there (I pointed toward the building), you can head there and someone will help you retrieve the map/directions from the floor”. He didn’t say anything. I walked off and he drove off. I’ve had three scenarios in my life where I just know in my gut that I escaped something horrible and that was one of them. I don’t help men with sh*t.

Wow I have had several men ask me for help when walking around in my city. I was chatting with my dad on the phone as I was walking to my gym and a car full of men pulled over to ask for general directions and my dad asked what was going on and then said “THEY ARE LYING”. He also told me not to walk and talk so I can stay vigilant. Sadly dads know their own kind

I had a dude roll down his window and ask me for directions to the dollar store at an intersection. He definitely caught me in a moment where I couldn’t get out of there as he was in my path.

I kept walking, but he kept asking. So, kept my distance, told him to drive south or go to a gas station and figure it out. ‘Where’s south???’ ‘THAT WAY’. And kept going. It’s balance of not angering the men because yes you should tell them to fuck off, but also they can get out or their car and ‘teach you a lesson’ because that’s been happening where I live. A woman was stabbed yesterday. I circled back and watched for him to make sure he didn’t follow me home.

I had my dog with me, too.

I love how the media always blames us, but men research this for a LONG time before they ever execute their plans. They look for women's weakness. Men are extremely dangerous. As sexist as this sounds, it's never the woman's fault for when something happens to her. Unless she's completely naive, and even then it was her upbringing. When I was 18, I went to the laundromat to do my laundry. I lived on my own. A man in a wheelchair asked me to help him get his clothes out of the dryer. I said I'll call the number posted on the sign for assistance, and several times refused his requests. He got REALLY mad and wheeled out. I was really suspicious of that.

Oh my goodness.... This reminds me of another horrifying story in my life... Lol....

A little over a year ago I was walking home from work. I was only five minutes away when I saw a car pulled over in the middle of a busy street. A shirtless man was pulling items out of his trunk. I tried to walk faster to just get passed him. I had headphones in. (Not smart.. I know) He quickly comes up to me and demanded that I to call 911. I think his car broke down judging by the hood being open. He had put a gas can and other random items in front of the car in the street. The passenger door was ajar on my side. I became suddenly freaked out and needed to just keep walking. He ran at me and began yelling all sorts of insults and that how dare I ignore his need for help. I bolted down the street all the way home. I tore both of my calves up so bad, I limped for over a week after that. That was the most terrifying thing I have experienced in the last year.
