Like... they act like men don't go through this but it's worse for men because they aren't even allowed to have an opinion on other men.

At last in the last year or two I'm seeing the "dad bod" thing pick up a lot.

On the shows Project Runway and Making the Cut, they always include a bunch of plus sized women models, but the male models are always tall, chiseled men with <10% body fat. Not a single chubby or out of shape guy anywhere.

It is. I’m not the biggest guy, but I work out regularly and eat right so I think I look good for your average dude. I was at the gym and I was wearing a loser top that you could see a lot of my body in. A very overweight woman who was stuffed into some spandex made the comment, “that guy is too small I need a man who has muscle.” I had my AirPods in, but turned off so I’m guessing she thought I couldn’t hear her.

I just used my phone to fact check this and noticed a graphic image of males as one of the first images and kept scrolling a good bit till I saw a real male person. Girls can be overweight, and "you have to love them cause they are beautiful in all sizes bullshit"

Shaming me for not liking a type of thing not gonna suddenly make me be attracted to that type of think just makes me stay the hell away from those types of people even more.

The weird thing is its fine to shame men to improve and try and be better and aim to be more. But girls dont have to for some crazy dumb reason. And still want and demand the same level of respect and be taken seriously on the same level as men.

Its literally like one side has to do a super hard exam to even get a shot for a job and work super hard for it. And one just has to show up and get it for free. How can you demand the same respect and seriousness. And that's what girls dont understand why there not taken serious. The real reason for this is because this store’s female underwear customers are women and their men’s underwear customers also contain a large proportion of women. The women models look like the customers and the men look attractive. It’s catering to their customer base. It’s why men’s underwear boxes always have good looking men with bulges. It’s proven to sell well to the women who buy underwear for men and the men don’t care one way or the other.

It is one sided. There's almost no such thing as a male plus size model, because men who are overweight are seen as just fat, and they're even called slobs or neckbeards. If you're a woman it's totally fine, and you're even sometimes glorified due to society's double standards nobody talks about.

Eh — one thing to consider is that research shows that men don’t become as self-conscious when shown in-shape or muscular men. The most common reaction is motivation to improve one’s own health. Not that body positivity still isn’t important for us, but there are probably less thin/chubby guys calling in to men’s health because they feel hurt, self-conscious, … by seeing other fit men.

I’ve noticed this too, definitely a thing. Although, tbh, I think there’s reasonably just a lot more pressure from the women because 1. Women’s clothes tend to be more form fitting, so big women need to know when clothes were made specifically for them, whereas there’s more wiggle room on sizing larger men’s clothes and 2. Women have eating disorders like 15:1 compared to men, so it makes sense that women consumers would put a lot more pressure/care about representation a lot more.

Also women just tend to spend a lot more money on clothes iirc, so it would make financial sense to have more granularity in advertising towards them

unpopular opinion I'm sure, but I'd argue that body image issues are much more prevalent for females. That's not to say the issue isn't one-sided but even as a male, this is one battle I'd probably sit out.
