I'm a 16 year old girl who is a feminist. I believe that both men, women and anyone who isn't either should have equal rights. A new girl has just joined my class who calls herself a feminist but is one of those full out "Men are evil" kind of people.

I came into school wearing a t-shirt that just had "Equal Rights for Men" printed across it in black text and an anchor. (My brother made it for me) Well, she went crazy. Full on shouting and all of that sort of thing.

I tried to explain to her that there is quite a lot of discrimination towards men in our society and that in some circumstances women are treated a lot better but she wasn't having any of it. She's now going round saying that I'm a neo-nazi (I have no idea where that came from) and as I'm not the most popular of people (I'm pretty weird), it's being believed.

But I couldn't care less about that. My main concern is the bad name her type give feminism and the impact beliefs such as hers can have on equal rights. Is it worth trying to talk to her? How can I change her opinions, or can I at all?
