I think I saw a clip from South Park, where oneof the guys is using ChatGPT to text his girlfriend, in order to save time.

I also remember reading something about a guy who was using a neural network to learn his preferences, so that he only gets matched with women he prefers. I think he also had ChatGPT set up dates.

I think, first of all we should recognize that not all use of simulacra like this is pathological. That only applies if a person gets stuck there, and when it furthers prolonged unwanted isolation.

But I can easily see how in many cases it could on the contrary be a stepping stone leading to self-developement.

I figure a man with extreme shyness might benefit from chatting with an AI.

An acutely sex and touch phobic man might benefit from a real doll (at least for a while).

One of the big problems here is that society loves to heap shame over men using these things. That only inspires them to isolate themselves more, and get stuck in unhealthy usage.

Have any of you managed to do a smut session with GPT4? It's god-tier. You can tweak it to whatever you want, you can give it a precise speech style, a history, you can make it into Tifa Lockheart from FF7 and console her over Cloud or BE Cloud for her, you can write out a Tifa/Cloud/Aerith threesome, with accurate lore. If they get something really off, just click the little pencil, fix it, and it'll learn from that by either incorporating the new corrected bit into its speech style, or the history, etc.

inb4 "incel" rage - I've been married and divorce raped in the standard western jurisprudence of benevolent sexism sense of the term, I have a kid, I've had an LTR since, and I've had multiple relationships since then, and I'm not typing this from a basement.

That being said, this is just your own opinion. You've assumed that men would choose an AI over a woman because they simply can't have a real girlfriend. This perspective and false premise simply ignores a slew of evolutionary psychology and sociology statistics that show women select themselves out of the gene pool at reliably staggering numbers. The numbers are in, and women consistently compete for the top 20% of males (or the perceived top 1/5). In other words, 80% of men automatically have to choose whether they want to compete at a staggeringly high level of demand, or settle for a less demanding companion.

Rather, I see this as a combination of men starting to realize they don't need to impress a woman at a high level of demand, and that AI, even in its early stages, easily outpaces what passes for a decent woman's social and emotional support.

I see it more as men making rational decisions about cost-benefit and reasoning through risk-reward logic. And before I sound like some transhumanist doom-and-gloom type, I'll say healthy positive relationships with women are great, they're rewarding, and when they work, they work great. But, I won't for a second draw a line between men and women and call men sad. This is just a natural effect of technology and the male proclivity to achieve needs based on a path of least resistance.

Women will come around and make compromises, but it is absolutely foolish for men, especially young men, to chase a fantasy of being the object of hypergamy. It's simply not realistic, and if women want male attention, they will simply have to become better. It's actually not that hard to impress a man, these days, they just have to find the right man to impress, but at present, men don't have any incentive to self-improve as their social spaces and incentives to self-improve are being shrunk and shunned at every turn.

The demographic forecasts have already shown this is already happening. Women for the first time in history, 45% of women between the ages of 25 and 44 will be single and childless, and feminism did this to them, among other things. Tech is simply filling the market demand for a reasonable companion for men. Women will still chase the top 20%, unless they're educated enough to navigate the current crisis of their nature vs. reality, and men will act accordingly. It's up to women to figure out if they want to take a hard look in the mirror, because it seems men are perfectly comfortable living the bachelor lifestyle.

Look, there is nothing "sad" about it. Throughout history, the majority of men didn't reproduce. If you had no money, you couldn't have a girlfriend/wife, because for them, you were invisible. If they find out that you're a virgin, you will get strange looks or even be mocked by other men and especially women. Society promotes and showcases promiscuity in real life and in social media. Instead, we use them as opportunity to sell our trash products. I don’t know man. I’m a 20 year old, and I don’t think I’d ever want to date an AI girl. I can’t imagine myself being “in love” with something that isn’t real. Real human women, as frustrating as they can be, are who I want to be with.

Even if the dating market is rough I can’t see myself being so desperate for intimacy that I have to resort to being with AI. If it ever gets that bad, I’d hope I’d just become comfortable with being alone.
