Hey everyone, I've been lurking and commenting on /r/mensrights for about 8 months now. I just want to mention one thing, and I just want to know if it has been discussed before.

My brother hasn't had a girlfriend for a while, so he considered buying a fleshlight. This may seem funny and ridiculous, but in all seriousness, what type of social/psychological effects do sex toys have socially and psychologically?

Out of curiosity, I asked one of my female friends how she would react if she went to a potential sexual partner's house and found a fleshlight. Her immediate response was laughter, and she said she would end any activities with that man and described it to be creepy, weird and not normal. She then said she would most likely tell her friends and laugh about it.

If my brother bought one, would buying a fleshlight reduce the chance of him getting a girlfriend?

When the tables are turned, the most common sex toy the dildo, men don't usually mind when their partners have one. Men don't shame them, make fun of them or anything. It's like women are granted the right to own a dildo, giving them the power to use these phallic objects as a replacement of the real thing. With a dildo, women can easily satisfy themselves and have little or no contact with men. How is it that they are accepted, versus fleshlights or male sex toys?

I always wondered this. Got any insight anyone?
