The law is that it's sexual assault, just like sodomy, objects inserted into vaginas and is gender neutral - actually a far worse crime than rape. Rape is a penis forcibly entering a vagina only.

Plenty lawyers want to see rape scrapped from the law books and only have sexual assault as it covers everything. It's just that rape has made it into the common speech of the public and it's been misconstrued.

As per a petition to the UK government

All non-consensual sexual penetration is dealt with by specific serious offences, including those that can be committed by a man or a woman. For example, the offence of assault by penetration carries the same maximum penalty as rape.

Personally i like this article. I've known for years about the situation. This is one of the biggest things that made me aware of the unbalance in many social and legal system.

I think it is a good thing that the question is still being asked as it forces people be aware and the fact that a big enterprise as BBC is the one publishing it, today i might add, is a good thing.

We WANT the question to be asked, we WANT people to talk about it. The worst thing would be for it to become ignored or worse, forgotten, and we'd be back to the starting point.

Real change happens overtime, not overnight, and people forget, new generations might not be aware. This is the one thing i'm aware feminism or any big social entott did right, no matter their intentions or results. They hammered their point, right or wrong, until it became the standard.

It's actually really positive, dispelling many of the myths such as "if a man has an erection then he wants sex". The study was carried out by a woman, and now she's advocating for a change to the law.

But no, you just read the clickbait headline.

EDIT: Why am I getting downvoted? The article does dispel the myth that men can't be raped. It's not dismissive like the title suggests at all.
