There's talk of skinny men being unattractive and I have a theory that what a lot of people say is skinny here just means not clearly fat as per american standards. Like they have the body and appearance of someone who isn't necessarily a landwhale but also has no other appeal like being athletic, muscular, nor the sculpted look of actually lean men. IRL men who are actually skinny (but not methhead skinny) usually have an easier time dating provided it's from being physically active and not in a flabby noodle type of way. The worst are the skinny-fat men with double chins lol.

Women, I need clarity regarding this:

(This was initially a post, so apologies if some things confuse you)

Okay. I'm not talking about the ONGOING of relationship, no, I'm talking about putting the foot in for the personality to shine. I have researched and skimmed through many posts from several subreddits and it seeks that 95% of women WANT an INSTANTANEOUS physical attraction to start worrying about personality. And majority of them won't even allow giving them a green card for dating or offer them their number if they don't find them instantly physically attractive.I asked this on another subreddit, and according to them, it is instantaneous too, but it is not just about genetics, but also about the movements of the person, the way he interacts, the way is walks and stands, and very importantly, his smile. These determine the instant physical attraction. But I don't agree that most people they meet and don't find attractive had a bad smile, or their posture was bad, or they dressed bad, so my first point I want opinions on is, what is all the fuss about "You'll get a girl through your personality" if most women find most men ugly/unattractive and instant physical attraction is what gets women go further into the interaction.Also, some women defined that for them the feeling was lightweight, like, "yeah, he's cute and kissable" and it is his responsibility to alleviate this feeling into sexual attraction. So that really shows that you have to be genetically good looking, AND in the top above decent margin to find a girl. Aftet all of this, hearing that "personality is what reigns" is much of a disappointment, where women come on reddit to try to prove that if they have fought their way throughout the centuries to be respected for what they are besides their looks, they are supposed to treat anyone else the same way too, but in reality it is in fact all about looks.What are your opinions and personal experiences on this? Because I suppose I am missing something, am I missing that women are generous enough to find someone physically attractive at first sight? My mind is projecting it is as if its too hard to win that luck.

Looks reign supreme. I probably look the best I have looked in my life (lots of weightlifting, then dropping to low BF). grew into my extreme babyface over the past few years. women were not really into me in my twenties at all.

Now I'm juggling 3 women - and im not sure if any of them really like me as a person or if they just want to get physical. I honestly think they just want a fun distraction from their daily busy lives- but women are different in that they at least want more of an experience - dates/etc for casual sex. online dates come stupid easy - I could get a date a day with an objectively attractive women if I wanted.

things were never this easy, im going to enjoy it while it lasts. looks can change rapidly depending on weight gain / hair loss / or even facial features changing.

I have talked with girlfriends about it. Was talking about the friendzone and such. And they pretty much verified that personality is worthless, it's all about looks. I have good talks with them, mutual hobbies and sense of humor. But it's all worthless, it has no impact on attraction.

They mostly say it's because of the age difference, since they are 10+ years younger then me. And saying they are'nt ready for relationships and want sexy, hot boy's.

So yeah, personality is worthless.

CMV: Mildly overweight, fat and obese men are drastically handicapping themselves in dating

…and the body fat percentage to get to ‘traditionally’ attractive is relatively low — lower than most would guess. I’d guess ~18% body fat is bordering on attractive, but more likely men need to get to sub 15% a baseline to attract a majority of women in most environments.

Now, it goes without saying that… *Some men with enough charisma, charm, engaging personality, or status and wealth etc. can overcome higher levels of body fat *Some men were in shape, attracted a devoted woman, and can retain her devotion with children/provisioning and then let themselves go, perhaps skewing perceptions a bit (“this chubby guy is with a decent looking girl”) *Some men are lean and fit and still struggle with women, perhaps due to repulsive / boring personality traits, introversion, bad luck, etc.

But GENERALLY SPEAKING, once men get to the point of having any kind of visible gut and ESPECIALLY if they do not have proportional levels of muscle mass, their sexual appeal is drastically reduced.

A probable ‘black-pill style reality’ is that men can rightfully be annoyed with ‘blue pill society’ for - is not clearly and unappologetically informing them of this mildly unspoken harsh truth: visible guts, that generalized skinny-fat appearance — and then anything worse than that — you are on a path to being completely invisible to women, and from there, dependent on the rizz/warm approach/jestermaxxxing/beta-buxing strategies we all hate — effectively long game attraction scenarios with very high failure/success ratios to attract women, let alone retain them if a fitter man ever shows interest.

Red Pill dudes will talk about their grandfathers had women twice as good for half the effort, etc. etc. but men in general have simply not grappled with how obesity and modern eating / lifestyle habits have absolutely decimated male sex appeal. Our grandfathers were almost surely far fitter and less fat than our generation is.

Related, due to a myriad of psychological and physiological factors, body fat on women does not necessarily hurt female sex appeal as much as it does for men (although it obviously can). Many women store body fat on their tits, ass, thighs, etc. or are simply smarter about dressing themselves/presenting themselves such that they can remain attractive with even moderately high levels of body fat. And on top of that, high levels of body fat in men are correlated with drops in testosterone, a lack of which is a bio marker for numerous struggles in dating for men.

It’s at this point some of the incel types will put on their subconscious blue-pill hats and start whining that women are getting just as fat and men still desire them, but what to say guys? See the last paragraph. Life isn’t fair sometimes. Embrace the probable assumed red pill / evopsych reality that fatter women had some evolutionary advantages for child-rearing, staying alive during lean times and seasons, etc. whereas fat men give almost no evolutionary advantages in war, hunting, and tribal leadership unless that fat came with accompanying strength.

That is to say, Red Pill dudes will talk about social trends in the last fifty years adulterating the quality of women, but a harsh unspoken reality is that increasing body fat percentages over time have harmed men much, much more significantly than women. The typical Red Pill style heros on YouTube and elsewhere (the Tate brothers, Rollo, Rich Cooper, Fresh and Fit et al) actually tell you guys this, often bluntly. Such that most men should get the message. But then spend the rest of their audience’s attention lashing out at modern women etc etc. in ways that I suspect clearly mislead men into where a significant, fixable problem exists in their lives.

I used to think I wasn’t shallow and that it was pure coincidence that my exes were all very good looking. Then I tried dating an objectively unattractive guy who seemed nice. I could not even hold this guy’s hand let alone kiss him. And he was such a nice decent guy too, I felt so bad. I've noticed a lot with both celebrities and people I've seen IRL, goodlooking people often don't have siblings of the opposite sex who are equally goodlooking (or at all). For example, take a goodlooking guy and his sister probably doesn't have the same appeal, and vice versa. I'm guessing it's because a guy is goodlooking b/c of the same features (masculine, robust, angularity) that make his sister look kinda off or manly. Conversely with a lot of attractive women with brothers, you'll see that the dudes look kind of blah, potato-ey or soft in the face, and it's this same softness that makes the woman attractive.

Also from discussion in another thread, I haven't noticed much of a correlation between the attractiveness of a pair of parents vs their kids either, just going by people I know and looking at their parents (pictures of when their parents were in their prime). There are probably good celebrity examples as well but I haven't searched extensively. One that comes to mind is Rob Lowe who is handsome but his sons basically look average or model Daniel Henney whose parents look average.

All that matters at the end of the day is whether or not your preferences prefer you back. If your butt ugly and you only date 10’s, what’s important here is if that 10 wants you back. If they do then there’s no reason to lower your standards, it doesn’t matter that they’re not your ‘looks match.’ People can complain that this isn’t fair but they should be promptly ignored.

How much variety do you think there is in terms of who we consider attractive?

Like I know when it comes to body type there’s pretty much a universally agreed ‘most attractive’ for both genders(give or take a bit in the weight or muscle department for preference)

But there seems to be a big difference in what people find facially attractive.
