The theories posited by TRP and RPW are not really about traditionalism, and a lot of outsiders to red pill get this wrong. Well, lol, some (male) red pillers themselves get this wrong, but they are low IQ and do not deserve to flair themselves red pill.

Most of what is in the red pill has to do with attraction dynamics. Women largely do like men who are good looking, confident, and take initiative. It does not say that women naturally want to stay home, and indeed, many of the women who participate in RPW are not stay home wives and mothers.

One does not need to cite history to conclude that most women prefer men who are dominant leaders that take charge - most women say this themselves. Hence the burden of approaching first is always on men. No woman has ever said that she likes passive men who don't take charge. And why not? It's convenient.

Multiple things can be true at once. Redpillers get tons of shit wrong, historians get tons of things wrong, and feminists love to try and say that because of the second, we can throw everything out and assume humanity was in matriarchal Garden of Eden until evil nasty men established patriarchy.

For Rome: women straight up had severely low rights. The argument then was that rights came with responsibilities, hence why men had to serve in the Legions to earn their right to vote. Women's rights were so low, that Christianity spread primarily among women because it was against abortion and child murder. Roman husbands often commanded their wives to abort unwanted babies, and it was their legal right to do so. Christianity was wholly against abortion, so the women of Rome were the primary members of the Christian cults that would later become so numerous that it supplanted the Roman Gods and saw Constantine establish the Roman Church that would later become the Catholic Church.

That's right, hilariously, outlawing abortion was pro-women's rights two millennia ago. Now, it's the opposite, and for good reason.

As for prehistoric women, these theories are impossible to disprove at best, and fabrications or stretching of truths at worst. One study that claimed most tribes actually had equal women to men hunters, actually made that claim so long as there was evidence of at least one woman hunter. And women weren't just at home with the kids while the men did everything. They gathered. By some estimates, in many tribes, the women actually gathered more of the tribes consumed total calories through this. Trying to argue they were hunters actually diminishes the very real and crucial role they played.

As for evo-psych, it's a soft field among the softest of the sciences, and mostly relies on intuition, but just think: who is the more likely gender to watch children, especially the youngest ones, the one that produces milk, or the one that doesn't. Now, does that mean men did zero work with children and women only watched children and picked berries, probably not, no. But we can still see that men's bodies evolved for violence, and women's bodies evolved for childbearing. Even things like women getting cold easier than men is down to their circulatory system favoring their torso, likely to protect and warm a fetus, whereas men's is much more spread out. This has the funny paradox that women actually survive better in the cold than men.

Lastly, 'natural' and 'good' aren't synonyms. Evolution is a mindless process based primarily on reproduction, which is why many species have traits that are useless for survival, such as the stunning plumage of many male birds. No one should be basing their morality on what is natural, because the most natural moral system would create a society that looks like a hellscape to most people.

This argument only works by replacing "men and women have recurring sex-based tendencies and roles" with the much easier claim that women naturally did nothing except sit inside a 1950s suburban home. Those are not the same position.

Women working throughout history does not disprove traditional gender roles. In preindustrial societies, nearly everyone worked because households were units of production. Women farmed, traded, produced goods, cared for children, and sometimes managed property. Men and women contributing economically is fully compatible with their labor, responsibilities, risks, and authority being divided largely along sex lines.

The examples of women running estates, owning businesses, or fighting do not disprove a general pattern either. A tendency does not require every individual to follow it. The existence of female warriors no more proves that combat was not overwhelmingly male than the existence of male caregivers proves childcare was never disproportionately female.

The post also lumps several different claims together. "Women naturally prefer certain kinds of male leadership," "men tend to be more protective of their families," and "women should never work outside the home" are separate propositions. The first two concern average preferences and behavioral tendencies. The third is a particular social prescription. Refuting the strict stay-at-home model does not automatically refute every biological influence on courtship, protection, division of labor, or family organization.

It is fair to say the single-income suburban household is not some universal arrangement stretching unchanged across human history. But that correction does not lead to the conclusion that traditional sex differences were invented in the mid-20th century. It only means those differences appeared differently under farming, household production, industrial labor, and modern salaried employment.

So the historical record is messier than the most rigid version of Red Pill history, but it is also messier than this rebuttal admits. Women have always worked, while men and women have also generally performed different work, faced different expectations, and occupied different positions within families and societies. Finding exceptions and previously overlooked female labor challenges an exaggerated caricature. It does not make biology disappear.

TRP/RPW is about mating and sexual attraction and not so much domestic roles. They will posit that women are attracted to men who can provide and men are attracted to women who nurture and look like they could survive bearing children, a slight difference from the promotion of traditional gender roles regarding the division of labor.

I also believe that women have always worked alongside childrearing. Even elite aristocratic women were largely responsible for event planning, social networking, and maintaining the reputation of their family. However, I believe the majority of the labor done by women was in service of their household and that the head of their households were their husbands. I don't think whether a woman works outside the home or not means that the man isn't leading or the main provider.

Yes, women have always worked, farmed (this counts as “staying at home” btw), traded, fought, etc. But not anywhere close to the same proportion as men. You’re citing exceptions and then presenting them as the rule.

In general throughout history, in most cultures anywhere on this planet, women have wanted men to lead and to protect, and have tended to stay home while men are the ones to leave the home to hunt, trade, explore, and fight. The fact that you think this is some mid-20th century invention shows how shallow your understanding of history actually is.

Also, it’s interesting that you believe that “modern” archaeologists and historians don’t bring their own biases to work with them. Archaeology and history are two fields of study that rely heavily on interpretation, which is heavily influenced by the interpreter’s own biases and worldview. Modern historians are just as biased as ones from the 1950s; you just happen to prefer their biases.

The historical record is a lot messier than your evo-psych fan fiction. Women have always worked. They farmed, traded, managed businesses, ran estates, made economic decisions, and sometimes fought.

Ok ok so women were involved in a lot more exciting work than banal chores and home making. My grandma and great grandma must’ve been exceptions.

But I’ve always heard that men, who run banks, kept women from having credit…? They were fully participating in society without credit?
