So many men call her entitled for assuming she wasn't paying for the trip.
[–]donttextme_kFDS Newbie207 points208 points209 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Safe to assume most of them are stingy as hell. I’m getting second hand embarrassment, like you really send your girlfriend a bill ....

He should have communicated before the trip. You know they'd shred a woman who tried this shit on.
[–]biggestsighFDS Newbie[S] 74 points75 points76 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah they would be but you didn't "ComMUniCAte"
[–]Summerisle7FDS Disciple29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
haha no doubt, they'd put it on her that she should have cOmMuNiCaTeD that she didn't expect to pay for the plane tickets that HE probably volunteered to buy

Shortly before the end, my ex told me he wanted "to take [me] on a trip" but he didn't want to plan logistics. So I plan a lovely trip for the two of us, thinking he might propose, factored in his tastes and mine and honestly hit it out of the park. When I gave it to him with the fruits of my efforts he hits me with "how do you want to split it".
It wasn't too long before he became more blatantly abusive. Stinginess in wallet comes from lack of generosity of spirit. I'm super frugal in everything except when it comes to social bonds. I would have happily paid my share, but then I would have expected him to do his share of the other work too.
[–]dembar126FDS Newbie70 points71 points72 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Honestly that's fucking embarrassing. If I were a man I'd be so embarrassed if I told a woman I was going to "take her" somewhere and then asked her to pay.
Literally how are they not embarrassed by this shit?
[–]donttextme_kFDS Newbie35 points36 points37 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Imagine them as husbands and asking “hey so the water bill, how do you want to split this?” 🤡
[–]mostlycoderFDS Newbie29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like how you phrased your frugality. Its being frugal but not cheap, I am the same way. I stretch my money but still buy thoughtful gifts, meals out, etc where socially appropriate.
[–]popsthrowsupFDS Newbie148 points149 points150 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Of course they are, my Bf took me to Mexico on my birthday last year (before covid)
If he sent me a bill I’d be in jail for murder.
I’m assuming this is how it went “don’t worry babe I’ll plan everything it’s all taken care of”
She probably paid for meals and misc. throughout the trip, but he’s retroactively asking her to pay for shit she had no idea she needed to pay.
You’re allowed to assume you aren’t paying for something if you aren’t consulted about the purchase. Wtf is wrong with men
[–]t3ddiFDS Newbie26 points27 points28 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"I'd be in jail for murder." 😂🤣
[–]pet-fouffeFDS Newbie17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They are so dishonest. I'm not against paying for my part, but either a) you don't mention any costs to her and it's then assumed that you pay for both since you invited her or b) you want to split the bill in which case both partners have to discuss about it before the trip and agree on the budget, who pays what etc. You don't get to make her believe you're paying and then asking for the money.

$10 says he's now got "post-nut clarity" and having enjoyed her sexually on the trip, he now wants to break up with her, so he wants her to pay. He invited her, and never asked her to pay until the trip was over. He basically wants his travel subsidized.
Nope. I"d block and delete. He doesn't get a dime.

I'd block his ass with extreme prejudice. That doesn't even occur to her.. but it damn well should lol. Men have taken so much from me and I can proudly say I didn't let them anywhere near my money.

You don't owe him shit. You never agreed to pay for it.
On that note, you really shouldn't give him any more of your time either - he sounds like a stingy prick with awful communication skills.
[–]venomous_gFDS Newbie52 points53 points54 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]jargon_explosionFDS Newbie74 points75 points76 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't pay in general, but also I would absolutely not pay without receipts. Trusting a person you've known for only months when they request 1800$ without ever consulting you? Hard pass.

Oh wow. This reminds me when I was 23 years old and dating a ewww 51 yeat old.
I wanted to SpOiL him so took him on a holiday. I booked and paid for flights, a 5 star hotel, a car rental included drinks and meals in our hotel etc. The weekend cost me a small fortune, like, I literally could have bought a second hand car.
Anyway, we get home and he has a go at me because "You said you wanted to take me away and it ended up costing me money!"
What money you ask? He paid the parking at the airport and paid for ONE lunch.
I was so devastated that I RuInEd his holiday.
I've never paid an extravagant purchase for a man again. I bought my current partner some take away last week, he almost fell over in shock. Fuck spoiling men and being 50/50 financially. I'd rather be 100% alone then have a man only willing to see me as a 50% share.
[–]zorra666FDS Newbie27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What a nightmare! I just can't even wrap my head around how a man could do this to a young girl. I hope you were able to recover financially and, hopefully, this experience saved you money in the long run because NEVER AGAIN! Our generous spirits work against us.

Ohhh he got his. He wanted to buy me a ring, he ended up trying to impress the sales woman and spent just over 10k on this quarter carat of diamond (ha!) from some over priced jewellery shop. I didn't even like the ring that much to be honest.
Anyway, while he was flirting with her and paying for it I was dealing with another lady who was filling in the paperwork for me. "Let's put the ring in your name". Um... okay. I didn't really understand.
Anyway, fast forward a couple of weeks and he decides that I don't deserve the ring anymore and takes it off me and puts it in the safe. He tells me I'll get it back when he thinks it's the right time.
While he is out, I take the ring out of the safe and sell it. He goes mental when he discovers it. Tells me he is going to call the police etc because I stole it.
My parting words to him were "I left the certificate of ownership in the safe. Look who's name is on it".

Was it like a Tiffany or Cartier?
[–]2021IsOurYearToShineFDS Newbie25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Tiffany. Overpriced and pretty poor quality.
My new partner listened when I told him I like lab grown ethical diamonds (look them up if not familiar, they are real diamonds, just a more ethical choice and a fraction of the cost!) and so for Christmas gave me 1 carat earrings with a higher grading then that piece of crap ring and they were only 2k. He snuck off and bought them as a surprise, it wasn't that he was buying them for me, he was giving me a real gift.

Wait, it gets worse. I saw this one and the same user had posted a few days pripr that she was in a hotel with her "boyfriend." IIRC, they were a previously online/LDR that had only gotten together in person in this hotel for 2 weeks and also were visiting his friends, a married couple. She overheard him talking on the phone to his friends saying that things were "rocky" and other negative stuff.
So there's further evidence, even though it's obvious from the venmo request alone, that he is about to dump her, she means absolutely nothing to him and he has so little respect for her (and himself) that he's just going to toss out this money request first and see if she'll pay up. He was probably already planning to visit his friends and just thought hey free sex and a 4th person to round out the couples - why not.
Poor girl.
[–]biggestsighFDS Newbie[S] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]blilolaFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn’t give this man a dime. How can you ‘invite’ me out but still expect me to go dutch. However, if he does show signs of violence, aggression or anger, then I wouldn’t want to be caught up with such a man. So I’d pay my share if that were the case then block him. The only thing worse than a stingy man is an unstable one
[–]biggestsighFDS Newbie[S] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
She's not in the same city. They had to go LDR so she really could just block him from everywhere and he's out of luck.
[–]blilolaFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That’s way better. I was scared that he was emotionally unstable and would try and use violence. Thanks for the clarity!

[–]NoneOfYourBusinessPSFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If he had told her beforehand that this would be a SHARED expense and she agreed, then this would be understandable. But having not told her anything? Is she supposed to look in her crystal ball and guess?
No fucking way, don't give him anything. If you plan a trip that will be paid by both (which is of course absolutely fine, I have my own money and don't need your handouts or charity), then say it in advance and I will gladly pay for myself.
They truly are morons.
