Just clashed with a feminist friend who despises me.

She knows that I believe women behave transactionally in relationships. However, what irritates her is that I simultaneously hold this belief while maintaining a happy monogamous relationship with my fiance.

I unashamedly treat the woman like a goddess on earth, and everyone knows it. But because of my acknowledgement of hypergamy, aforementioned friend believes it is immoral for me not to remain single.

Now, I know a lot of women on here will agree with her. Some men too - many will say "if you know the nature of women, why pursue relationships which will ultimately not be to your benefit?"

The way I explain it is as follows: I have cats, and I love them with every fibre of my being. However, I know that if someone broke into my house with the intent to bludgeon me to death, my cats would abandon me to save their own lives. If I died, they would eat me. I know this, and I love them anyway.

Moreover, my cats aren't going to live forever. I hope for 20-25 years, but even still I know that the day will eventually come when I'm here and they're not. I love them anyway.

It's the same with women. I have the love of a good woman because at the moment I am attractive, successful, and in good physical and mental health. But some day, one or more of those things will fail. Probably physical health.

I am fully aware that my partner will then leave me, and I'll be alone. I know this, and I still continue down this path because my attitude to life is: use the good towels, don't save the fancy candles, eat the last chocolate, go for the upgrade.

I know it's finite, but I wish to enjoy it while I can. Some don't even get that luxury.

I think this sub exaggerates how much men and women settle. I think the vast majority of people believe their partner is really “the one” when they get married. Now, that could change as the marriage goes on but I do think at the time that’s what they really believe.

Women need to overall accept that attention from men aka male validation is worth as much as a pile of junk mail. They give it away to anyone and everyone. It comes in waves and is easily lost when a prettier or more interesting woman comes along.

And having a man want to marry you isn’t that much of a win either. They’re either tired of being alone or locking you down bc their glory days are coming to an end..or they believe it’s the right thing to do.

Men, on the other hand know that when a woman chooses them then they must be above the rest. Whether they’re chosen for casual or ltr; they’re still being selected above many others as men here know and regularly discuss how all of us have so many options.

Women can never really feel special the way we make them feel special. Even married women who claim to be happy find themselves guarding their SO throughout their relationship out of fear of their SO straying. We are always replaceable to men and it gets worse as we age.

I find it funny when men moan about being disposable because that context is only applicable within capitalism…and that disposability applies to everyone.

Women are the ones disposable to men and if it weren’t for saving face we would already be conscripted in war.

Update on the Botox/Filler Chronicle:

Today I went to a consultation in secret. It was difficult to not mention it to my husband, who uh… would strongly prefer, let’s say, that I not put anything in my face. His primary reasoning is that, given our large age gap, he thinks I’m attempting to preserve my youth and looks for my next husband. (He’s not entirely wrong; I do expect to be widowed at some point. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over him, but I definitely would like to have options even into old age if I do decide to remarry.) Secondary reasons include actually wanting me to age because he feels guilty about and judged by others for our age gap. (I didn’t tell him “fuck that,” but that’s basically how I feel about it. I don’t actually think he wants to be married to an older looking woman, given that he married me when I was young, and he still expresses attraction to adult teens and early 20s women. So in my mind, preservation of my youthful looks is a gift to both of us.)

Anyway, my aesthetician is about 4’8 with platform converse on. The combination of the filler in her cheeks, the deeply-tanned tone of her foundation, pinkish-mauve lip gloss, and the thick, rounded, winged liner applied above her evergreen eyes reminded me a lot of a tigress. She basically took one look at me and said I didn’t need any injectables, but that early prevention never hurts. Apparently my tear trough lines are a result of bone structure and not aging. She seemed to understand my desire for the effect to be very conservative, discreet, and natural looking, and recommended one syringe or less of the filler, and a relatively small amount of xeomin. I joked to her that, just to be safe, I should dye my hair the same day I get work done, so my husband focuses on that instead of the change in my face.

It came out to around $1000, and I paid in advance to make my next appointment more time efficient, just in case. The frugal part of me is internally screaming, but I’ve thought about this for many months now, so I’m satisfied it’s not an impulse purchase. It’ll be worth it, I think.

I have one PRP session scheduled at the other medspa that I’ll get done before I schedule the appointment to place the Botox/fillers. Will update here again with results (not that anyone here probably cares, but oh well.)
