My wife has been approached several times, when she was pregnant, by teenage girls asking for a positive pregnancy test. My wife has told them all to go pound sand and usually gives them a lecture on what awful human beings they are for trying to trick someone into staying with them.

Do any of you ask why--historically--women have tried to entrap men with pregnancy, either real or fake? What I don't understand about this subreddit is what looks like the willful desire to discount or ignore material information that makes other kinds of sense of women selling pregnancy tests than "women can be really shitty and clearly there's nothing they need to be liberated from other than their own cuntiness." Of course women can be really shitty people, and make really shitty choices that often times negatively impact men. Is that an issue for "men's rights?" That is to say, are we talking about systemic oppression that is of the same magnitude as the oppression of women?

Women do not have the earning power of men in our economy. They don't get high paying jobs, they don't get time off to have kids, they aren't paid for doing the lion's share of invisible labor (cooking, cleaning, childrearing) that makes our economy actually run (notice how many commercials for home cleaning products, cooking tools, meal options, child assistance are aimed at women as though men don't participate in such things), and they aren't voted into office at the same rates so that they can make their economic needs more obvious to the state. Historically, a good move for women has been to capture the earning power men have through homebuilding--and that includes having a child to legally bind you to a man's earnings. It's sort of the spoken/unspoken charge around "welfare mothers." The state is stepping in to do what a father should--monetarily support his children and family. What's interesting about this is (and, please, for a moment just consider this before you discount it outright) women get blamed for needing such assistance instead of taking measures to allow for women's free and important labor to sustain them (with money), or taking measures to pay/employ them across the board at the same rates as men. It's akin to the ways that black women (whom our culture assumes are the primary welfare recipients) get blamed for contributing to the destruction of "the black family" because they are raising children without the financial support of black fathers, and instead have become "dependent" on the state. The assumption here is that a woman should have a man to be "dependent" on for her children's needs, and as long as that assumption is the common sense of our culture, women can never have economic legitimacy the way men can.

It sucks that these women are scamming in ways that will entrap men, hurt them, and possibly even steal resources from them. Some people might advocate for such measures to be taken since "the patriarchy is against them" and oppressed people should succeed "by any means necessary." But I don't think that's a feminist position, because it doesn't actually liberate the oppressed class--it utilizes their oppression to "get back" at men. That's not useful for the liberation of men or women from a patriarchy that assumes roles and controls outcomes.
