That entirely depends on how homosexuals are perceived by any given culture.

I have noticed that the homophobia of today is NOT the same as that if our grandparents. Today's homophobes hate gays for a totally different reason than 50 years ago.

Today it appears that people hate specifically this "LGBTQ+LMNOP7QZ#Derr..toInfinityAndBeyond!!" shit because it behaves, and is thus treated as, an enemy ideology much like the Pinko Communists under McCarthyism. Notice that nobody says "Gays" anymore. Gay men have started being ostracized within their own category ever since the Alphabet Soup Brigade started to dictate who is or isn't gay enough.

So it is not that men hate homosexuality in and of itself. They hate the bullshit culture, the groupthink, the fascist ass totalitarian and witch hunt mentality of the Wokesters, and anti-masculine and emotional micro-managing behind this click of hyper sensitive crybullies who leverage both the State and Corporations to use as megaphones and sticks to whack their agenda on everyone's head. Men hate the agenda, not "the gays."

Every major corporation, news outlet, movie, tv show, celebrity, most politicians (even republicans) are pro lgbt. There are no people being kept in the closet because of random guys like me who are anti-lgbt.

Some straight men get SA’d by gay men. Sometimes when we are boys or when we are grown. We don’t report because people care less about it when it happens to us. I could forgive a man for being homophobic towards gay men if I knew he was hurt by one. Doesn’t excuse the rest of them, but if I knew that happened to one I’d understand.

I will correct you- I’m queer and have found that while straight men do self reinforce toxic masculinity in some amazingly un-insightful ways, such as making it harder for themselves to get laid, homophobia is an equal access hate and I personally have been bullied and fired for being queer by women! Yay equality! Everyone can be an asshole.

I think the homophobia comes from a personal fear, especially when done by sexist men. The idea of "That which I find attractive is beneath me and it's okay for me to harass it", and they don't want that pushed back on them. I don't think they care about the gay men and their women beards or whatever, it's just a personal worry of being treated like how they treat others.

Some humans are significantly less adaptable to vast shifts in their way of living/overall perception. That's pretty much all there is to it. One very prominent sheep within society declared that the LGBT community should be considered unethical, and all of its other little sheep follow along willingly.

Straight men are the perpetrators of most hate crimes to the LGBT community, that's true. But that doesn't mean that they are the main perpetrators of homophobia per se.

For instance, when contemplating a relationship with a bisexual person of the opposite sex, women are much more turned off by the idea than men.

Personally, I think women are just as much if not more homophobic than men. They are just less dangerous in general...

I’m pretty indifferent to the gay agenda, and I have my share of issues with what’s going on in the trans movement. It has never had any effect on my dating life whatsoever, and I imagine that the Chaddiest of Chads and douchiest of douchebags, who are still mowing through women’s vaginas, aren’t exactly at your local LGBT protests.

Also, regardless of their political beliefs, I’m willing to bet that most men know how to toe the line enough to get laid. For those who can’t get laid, their stance on LGBT issues isn’t at the forefront of their problems with women.

Depends on what kind, if it is a violent hate crime sure but that is because men commit more violent crimes and violence in society. If it is social ostracism and othering, I'll say it is about equal.

Generally attitudes towards LGB men/trans women are a lot worse than the other way around (many countries still criminalize sex between men but not between women).

Yeah this is wrong, as someone who immigrated from a pretty homophobic country it is equally seen as wrong and an abomination over there. Even in countries like Saudi Arabia and the like it is the same, gays and lesbians get the same punishment.

I find this attitude to be strange and self-defeating. Many straight men today complain about not being able to find a partner, but if attitudes towards LGBT people improved, more guys would feel comfortable coming out of the closet, which would reduce competition, and improve their chances of scoring. From a rational perspective, straight men should be the first in line to promote LGBT rights.

Only a very tiny percentage of the population is gay and if you compare the western world where homosexuality is legal it is consistent between nations. So even if you are in a country were being gay is a crime, you would just remain single or become a monk/priest especially as a man since most of the time men remaining single is less stigmatized than women. Even if all the gay men entered relationship only around 2% more men will be in relationship plus 2% more women would be in the dating pool so your point is moot.

I don’t think this is true, especially when it comes to bisexual people. Of the people I know (biased sample, I know) I don’t really see a difference in homophobia towards gay people. But bisexuals is are different story.

Many straight women will preach pride and inclusivity, but are turned off my a man who is bisexual or has experimented. Whereas the inverse is not the same. Most heterosexual guys could care less if their girl is Bi or Pan.

I'm not "homophobic" because what consenting individuals do in their bedrooms doesn't matter to me, and I haven't been conditioned by religion into thinking otherwise. The advocacy definitely spills out of the bedroom and is often over-the-top but I have nothing against non-straight orientations in of themselves. I don't need some self-serving motivation to feel this way.

I think Bi men might display the most severe homophobic behavior because they are disturbed by their own bisexuality and are trying too hard too act straight.

In my 20s gay men often hit on me. I was even offered money for gay sex on 2 occasions when I did not think I had done anything to make anybody think I would take money for sex.

I had the yuck disgust reaction minus the fear that teenage girls have when old men hit me n them. An inappropriate sexual partner hitting on you is sort of like being offered spoiled food.

I never got mad a gay men for hitting on me. I just wished more women would hit on me as directly and out of the blue as gay men did. A couple courageous women did hit on me as courageously as gay men hit on me.

Also, it’s interesting that all the letters are smuggled in together, when in fact, most people only take issue with T. I literally know no one who gives a shit about homosexuality, because sexual preferences are, by definition, subjective. I couldn’t care less about sexuality and I never have, because it doesn’t affect me, and because you’re not making claims about objectively reality that extend beyond your own skull.

People take issue with trans, myself included, because A) it makes claims about objective reality that I do not think are true. B) I am required to play along with what I consider to be obvious delusions, because C) activists have hijacked a large portion of our cultural discourse to the point that I will suffer very real life consequences simply for disagreeing unless I protect myself through anonymity.

A few things to unpack here.

Your title is what doesn't make sense to me. Of course a straight guy won't be into gay relationships. That's what the term means.
What are "LGBT rights"? What rights do LGBT folk not get in your opinion?
What is "homophobia"? If, as a straight guy, I say I am repulsed by gay relationships, is that considered homophobic?
EDIT: also, the reason you give for straight guys to promote LGBT isn't viable, either. If some guy is "closeted", he's probably not interested in women anyways.

Globally, probably. In the US, I've been called f**got more by women than I ever have by men (unironically anyways). I'm a straight guy, nobody in my friend circle gives a shit about if someone is gay. I regularly train BJJ with a gay dude with no problems.

You're right that more gay men is good for straight men, but that is insignificant. Men do bully unfitting people because if too many weirdos invade the social space then the women just go away. You can notice this in any mixed group in highschool, the men are keeping the weird losery men away so the girls stay, if they don't, the girls leave. Now it doesn't mean that behavior is always relevant and making sense, but the idea is that this is a guarding instinct.

I don't necessarily think men have perpetrated it more, in the sense of voting for and supporting politicians/parties who are against gay people.

In the sense of more slurs thrown around then, yes, at least historically. Men used to call each other "gay" as an insult a lot. I don't think this "insult" was spoken by or directed toward women nearly as much. This kind of thing has reduced significantly in my lifetime and is only openly done in smaller and smaller circles.

Its not just straight men but society in general. It hasn't been long that LGBTQ has been popular. In the 80's gay men were being blamed for a certain for a certain disease that became rampant that time. Then you have certain countries that are very conservative that they follow toxic masculinity so strongly that homosexuality just doesn't make any sense to them. Yeah it sucks, based on my own personal experience.

Dunno, women can be pretty homophobic too. Many will refuse to date a man who's had a sexual experience with another man, for instance. Their equivalent of n-count standards. See also comments like this from r/askmen about how straight women behave in gay clubs.

It's an odd thesis though, that somehow hordes of closeted gay men are preventing all the straight men getting women. It's not like there's some massive social stigma that comes with being gay these days. It's a badge of honor if anything. Heck, some famous men come out right before a scandal hoping it will garner them more sympathy.
