In Eastern Europe there is often a stereotype that western women are very masculine and men are not “real men”.

But the reality is that both western men and women have no problem finding dates in countries like Poland, Czechia and Ukraine.

I am Thai but have spent years in the U.S. and travelled to Europe and other western countries. I find that western people are varied, depending on the country and the state. There are some race-based differences as well, but this sub prohibits discussing it, so I won’t.

In general, western people are comfortable with PDAs. They are also more straightforward and more likely to say it how it is, which I appreciate. They are more individualistic. They care more about personal space. They are more likely to think outside the box and more daring. Their lives are also less entwined with their parents.

I'm only really familiar with Asians, but it's tiresomely familiar actually.

When the locals are feeling ethnocentric and prideful, both sexes of Westerners are cast unflatteringly as fat, irresponsible, lazy, and lesser generally.

When they're in a more self-critical mood, Westerners can be enlisted as part of their own gender wars. Asian guys will remind their women of how their Western sisters (when young and not fat) are prettier, more buxom, taller, etc. and also have a better attitude than them and how ridiculous it seems for Asian women to have such princess complexes or whatever, and Asian women will go out of their way to say how Western men (when not old and not fat/bald) are more handsome, kinder, better endowed, etc.

Almost literally the mirror-image of how things are in the West, where guys will flip back and forth from metaphorically rolling around in the hwheat fields with genetically superior beautiful blonde tradwaifus, and slating all white women as fat blue-haired feminists who "just want your money" and we need to all escape in favour of thin high IQ modest virgins with perfect skin and eyes ”in Japan" or whatever (for some reason, this idea that Japan in particular is a perfect oasis from every social or other problem is fascinatingly enduring).

I would say, “American” is a better word. Since some European countries are quite different.

I studied Brazilian society and talking with them it made me realize that they view Americans as people who “don’t settle down” easily and are always looking for the next best romantic partner.

For instance, if you are dating someone you might break up with them if that relationship is not ideal in hopes of finding someone “better.” While people Brazil might stick it out since they find they can work on it.

That has been my impression watching videos of Americans and Canadians talked about their experiences in to Brazil and even the rest of Latin America that people there tend to be much more “long term orientated” in their relationships(this happens in some European countries as well) while in the US at least the big cities people are more short term oriented. The Brazilian writer suggested that might be with Hollywood culture where you are always have new up and coming people.

For western men, it depends upon the ethics of the individual woman. Some non-western women from poor developing countries definitely see western men as a tool to get out of poverty and to help provide for their family. Most poor non-western women, though, see western men as their best hope to have a family and children who will do well in life and are definitely in open to falling in love with nice western men with good jobs. The closer the age gap is in the couple, the stronger that the latter is what is happening rather than the formal.

This doesn't apply to non-western women from countries with money, though. Most of these women want a man who will fall in love with them and treat them well and aren't looking for a way to have a better life. They might see western men as men who will treat them in a more egalitarian way than men from their own country, though.

As for western women, I think a lot of non-western men like them because they think that they will have sex with them easier than non-western women. But I do think that most of these men would rather marry non-western women because they see them as more traditional. A lot of them definitely view blonde western women as the gold standard for attractiveness, though.

I mean by size and GDP, the USA is the richest country in the entire world. A fair portion of people can afford international travel to some degree.

Wealthy men mostly marry within their own socioeconomic and cultural classes. Rich Western men are not "passport" bros, those are mainly the "UMC", which tends to be much smaller as a class in most of the rest of the world with perhaps the exception of East Asia, which can't really use economic leverage to get a wife in the same way since it's rarely an "upgrade" money wise for Western women to go East, although Russian/EE "trophy" brides in China/Korea/Japan aren't super uncommon. Kpop has changed this paradigm a bit with Western women and Korean men.

Beyond the wealthy class, if you ask Africans (and to a lesser extent Arabs) going to Europe some of them will straight up tell you one of the main reasons they go North is to try and fuck/marry "Western" (white) women.

In my own experiences traveling abroad there are actually a lot of non-Western men who want to marry Western women and would do so given the opportunity but see it more as a fantasy than an attainable thing. The perception seems to be that you have to be rich, fluent in her native language, and well-educated to even get your foot in the door while all it takes for their women to date Westerners is having a pulse.

From what I've seen, women from other countries are very interested in American men; assuming they're not fat and obnoxious. They like that American men are taller on average, generally have money and sometimes think American men are more chivalrous (which I think is probably not true).

Of course, this isn't ALL of the foreign women's opinion.

There are many unflattering stereotypes about western men and women were I grew up and at the same time, scoring a mediocre western man or woman for these same people was considered an achievement. I remember many guys who would bad-mouth western women, but then drool over average looking Americans. Most people are neutral to westerners, but there was a vocal minority that acted in the way I described.

It depends on what you describe as a western woman ig. I don’t really want to bring up race, but let’s just say the average western woman is more desired by non-western men than guys on this subreddit think. SOME guys here say “our looks are exotic in x place, so we can get the local women’s attention easily” forgetting the fact that technically it can also apply to western women too. I know many guys from my country would def date an average western girl if they had the chance, just for the different “new” looks that they don’t usually see on the streets.

Religion, arranged marriages, traditions, social pressure, not being fluent in a western language, not enough money to travel to a western country, etc. There’s many reasons. At least in my country it’s just not realistic for guys to leave everything behind and go to a western country just to get a woman. Also, deep down these guys know that realistically speaking western women wouldn’t want them anyway.

That they’re statistically less misogynistic than the local men (not that they’re immune to being misogynists, but that they’re less likely to be one in comparison). Also that they’re more attractive (thanks to self hating beauty standards).

Well when I was younger, the women against Asian form of patriarchy would praise western men for not expecting women to conform to their gender roles.

What I experienced first hand... Ehhhh... Selfish and lazy. This is not a gendered thing.

But even a lot of the kids in the east seem to hate accountability and act entitled nowadays, so idk. Unless you are a part of a decent community, it seems to be pretty bad in a lot of places.

Certain groups have a really low view of western women and will approach them constantly because they think they’re ‘easy’. Any sort of rape, SA, or child abuse is okay in their eyes if it’s against Western women. (I know this isn’t the majority but it’s definitely a thing)

I saw a post on a different subreddit a while back. From what they were saying:

Regarding Asian countries specifically: Western men were much more progressive than Asian men. They were less likely to commit domestic violence, were more egalitarian, were less likely to cheat, were more likely to help around the house and do childcare, and were less likely to smoke. (To put smoking into perspective: roughly half of all Chinese men smoke. The rates are high in other Asian countries, too.) I've also heard stories from friends who work overseas. I remember one friend was complaining about her taxicab driver watching porn on his phone while driving her. Basically, Western men make better husbands. (Let's see how many women complain about that characterisation, and how many men point out how under appreciated Western men are.)

Regarding cheating specifically: In some countries it's basically assumed that married men cheat, and I've heard stories from China about groups of businessmen going to prostitutes as a normal way of working together and making deals. I remember one guy talking about how uncomfortable he was being with these businessmen when the group of them went to a brothel, and it was expected that everyone would pick a prostitute. Having a mistress is also normalized in some places. I've heard that numerous times.

I've also heard that non-Western men expect Western women to be easy to get into bed, and they get real angry and frustrated if they can't get those women into bed because "they're supposed to be easy".

I think it comes down to the grass of always greener in a way. I have found as a western women that eastern europen women think I'm masculine and weird however eastern European men often find it extremely appealing. I don't really wear makeup and a lot of them seem to like to compare me to their country women in a favorable way for it. They like the idea that I'm not trying to get their money and that i don't tend to be fake about anything. Game playing is a lot more common in the Baltics at least. I think it's just that you always want what you couldn't have and the praise i get from them always put me off in a way.

Depends on the Westerner. We have stereotypes about different countries. Americans are loud, and obnoxious and think they're God's gift to humanity. The French are uptight pompous snobs. The British think they're better than everyone despite being the same lousy drunks as the worst EE man. The Germans are a bunch of boring sticks in the mud who close their shops at 6 pm like a bunch of grandmas.

But even if we don't use these general stereotypes, it depends on who you're asking. Someone who is pro-Western will most likely have a more favorable view of Westerners than someone who is pro-Russia and thinks the West is the root of all evil. With regards to dating, Westerners are still seen as a good catch by many people, especially people from poorer cities/towns who don't have a lot of opportunities for a better life. I'm from a comfortably middle-class family from the capital, most of my friends are well-educated people who have their own careers, who have traveled/lived in different countries, and none of them thinks Westerners are somehow superior or even impressive simply by virtue of being Westerners.

Disclaimer: I no longer dabble in sex and romance, but these are my views on Western males as a Westernised Asian woman referencing my old dating preferences. I'm just trying to answer your question completely honestly so I'm aware some of this may sound racist, but please understand these are just my assumptions and base feelings about Anglo/US/UK/English speaking French and German (Those are all the nationalities/cultures I've met men from who qualify as "Western") men and I'm fully aware of this, I always consciously tell myself "Try to disregard your assumptions and look at the actual person. The assumptions are just a very loose frame of reference, nothing more."

Also only men, because I didn't date women and with women my views are simply "Is she fighting misogyny or promoting female empowerment? Don't Know/Yes = Good + Comrade + help give her an advantage wherever I can afford it, No = Avoid"

Pros:

More open-minded
More independent and assertive (Not because I want men specifically to be assertive, but I think a degree of assertiveness is good for everyone and I find many Asians have maybe less assertiveness than I consider healthy)
More likely than Asian men to be genuinely feminist/pro female empowerment
More fun to interact and socialize with
More likely to have a more international perspective/knowledge base than Asians
More likely to be romantically-inclined/personally charming

Cons:

More likely to politically disagree with me (I'm staunchly feminist and liberal in a very specific way but also collectivist (Maybe kinda socialist to a degree) and very supportive of just authority and social control. Also more or less anti religion. Basically no one I've met except my female best friend is all in on this, but from my experience Asian men might just "roll with it" whereas Western men are more likely to actively object)
Likely to be less hygienic in general, more likely to have an odour I dislike
More likely to partake in disorderly, rowdy or "laddish" behaviour
Any misogynystic traits are likely to manifest in a more overt, aggressive and immediately threatening/obstructive way (Asian men's misogynistic traits tend to be more covert. Neither is better, but the overt method has more potential to become an immediate problem)
More prone to getting fat (As opposed to Asian men, who I consider more prone to being too skinny/lanky/wiry. Neither is better, just something I note)
More likely to be involved in drugs and alcohol
Less likely to be concerned with personal grooming
